morning there's a little north well breeze. but once it comes still you feel the she mudity and going through the afternoon because the winds will turn to the southwest and it's going to feel more sticky outside. but, for right now, this is the type i day -- type of day where you do the outdoor activities in the morning and maybe sit in the air conditioning as you head into the afternoon because temperatures are really going to soar close to about 100 for today and that's the actual temperature. let's see what's going on right now as we look -- and basically we can see the hot temperatures the warm temperatures from the eastern seaboard all the way into the middle of the nation. you are looking at 80s from minneapolis over to buffalo coming in at 82. and then we head further out towards the west there where we are dealing with the cooler weather. yes, that puts a smile on everybody's face. some of that weather will be work its way into us heading into the weekend. we have cooler times ahead. but first, we have to get through this heat and humidity that we will be suffering through today and also

tomorrow. let's get a check of the abc2 timesaver traffic with lauren cook a water main break still talking about it this morning. >> reporter: yes. it's really causing headaches for anyone headed downtown. traveling in an area, expect closures light street will be shut down between redwood and pratt and there's a live look at the inner harbor. we have an update from the state -- the department of transportation where two lanes of lombard street have been reopened. there at light street you will want to expect heavy delays in the area. stick with a mass transit and you can take mlk or franklin street as your alternate routes. but leave yourself extra time. the water main won't be fixed for a couple days. so, this will be an ongoing pattern. no problems to tell you about on 95 moving through the white marsh area and crash cleared from the south side of the beltway on the inner loop at peninsula expressway. as we check in and look live at west side of the beltway at liberty road, traffic is starting to pick up on the inner loop. it will be slow from here at

liberty road down to route 40. that's a look at your abc2 timesaver traffic. now over to you. 6:31. people say the pilot was responsible he was experienced and what caused the small plane to crash in the wood area in montgomery county. one person is dead and another seriously hurt and investigators are looking for answers. abc2 news sherrie johnson is here with what happens today. >> reporter: well, there are still a lot of-answered questions. -- of unanswered questions. they were going out on a flying lesson and landed and took off again. today the federal aviation administration and ntsb will try to figure out what caused the crash. one person died and another severely injured. the seng ill engine plane crashed near the davis airport. montgomery county fire crews pond -- responded to the scene in a wooded area on the edge of the airport. one man was dead at scene and the other man was flown to

shock trauma. man who died in the crash was the pilot. witnesses say they could hear the crash from a mile away. >> i heard like a rumble you know and i felt like the earth shake. >> he had been known to have 18,500 flight hours and was incredibly experienced. i learned to fly from him and was one of his last students. >> reporter: the identities of the pilot and passenger have not been released. sherrie johnson, abc2 news. news time 6:33. and the police chase caught on tape. authorities say this guy was driving a stolen car. hitting 90 miles an hour and here's the kicker. a 2-year-old was in the back seat. the chase lasted about 12 minutes and the car slammed into the side of the bus. police say the 21-year-old driver was treated for minor injuries and he was slapped with charges including grand theft auto and child endangerment. that toddler appeared to be okay but was taken to a hospital as necessary precaution.

three more men say as young boys they were sexually abused by convicted child predator jerry sandusky. according to the harrisburg patriot news the new accusers say they were molested in the 70s and 80s. last month, sandusky was found guilty of 45 counts of sexual abuse. he has not been sentenced yet but when he does get sentencesched he could get life in prison -- sentenced he could get life in prison. there's new information to tell you about in the george zimmerman case a woman interviewed as part of the case against the neighborhood watch later -- lead are accuses the familiar live racism and says zimmerman molested her when they were kids. zimmerman's attorney responded to the allegations. >> they are not admissible and won't get it into a courtroom or before a judge so the frustration that i have is the allegations which george contends are untrue now we need to spend resources and time rebutting that. >> george zimmerman is charged with second degree murder in the shooting death of trayvon

martin in florida earlier this year. he says it was in self-defense. this is the hot topic on the tuesday morning. what do you think about a dress code for shopping? a store owner in one new york town is trying to fight crime by posting signs about what customers can and can't wear. at this drugstore in ralph's point the signs are asking customers to not wear hats, shades or hoodies while inside. >> i don't think it's a big deal. if it's going to make everybody feel safer why not. >> a person comes in dressed with the hood and the glasses and the caps, and they don't like it, then leave. >> the owner says the intention of the policy is not to discriminate against anyone but the created the policy after robberies at two area walgreens. stay with us this morning. a lot of businesses give employees paid vacation time. >> one denver company taking a step further. what the business is now doing to keep the employees happy.

morning, but it's bad when the morning is warm and you might not want to do anything except lounge around and relax drink plenty of fluids and stay in the ac. if you have to go out and about, seek lots of shades as you do that. now, let's show you what's going on in terms of temperatures this morning because we are dealing with a warm day on tap. look at glen bernie 78 close to about 80. churchville coming in at 75 and annapolis at 76. so that's what we have. humidity will be up or also -- and we will be dealing with a dry day. be prepared for that but the wet weather will return. details on that coming up. but right now, let's check the abc2 timesaver traffic with lauren cook good morning. >> reporter: good morning. yesterday's water main break causing a headache for drivers in downtown bolt light street is closed between pratt steed and you want to stick with ml -- pratt street and you will want to stick with mlk. mad vac responded to a scene in

a accident -- medivac responded to a scene in a accident. traffic picking up towards lock rain and this is what the west side looks like the traffic is starting to slow down here that will continue on the outer loop towards route 40. now over to you. an exchange of gunfire at a crowded outdoor party in toronto. killing two people and injuring 19 all of this because of the late night block party that got out of hand. we told yoi this overnight and -- told you this overnight. 21 people have been shot and 19 including a infant have been confirmed injured from bullets and also two people they have been confirmed dead a crowd of 200 people were at the party. witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots police say they had one person in custody right now. and they are looking for additional suspects. >> i heard the gunshots and

then i heard everybody screaming and running past my house, so, first i thought it was fireworks and than i realized it was gunshots and people running by. i called three girls running by and it was a 14-year-old girl that got shot in the arm. >> we are getting more information as it becomes available. we are learning now that the injured include a mix of gunshot wounds and injuries from the mass panic that followed. the story is available for you at abc2 news.com we have a like to what's going on from the canadian websites their news bureaus are following the story. to video of a massive fire happening -- now to a video in a massive fire in turkey. this is courtesy of youtube. let's show you this. look at this. massive 42 story building burning in istanbul. the clip was upload within the past hour. the towers are partially residential and occupied by

shops and businesses. firefighters in turkey have contained the fire which has been burning through the building's exterior installation. faned by high winds many and no one had reports of major injuries. once again, some dramatic video to show you. and the cause of that fire has yet to be determined. we are closer to home fireoutside the abc2 studios. this came in overnight around 3:30 this morning in towson. all of this started in a vacant house on bellonna avenue near lagrange lane. nabs say the owner passed away -- neighbors say the own aer passed away and -- owner passed away and the kids have been trying to sell the home. it's 6:48. look at this. it's a mess. if you are taking the kids to the harbor or work downtown, this is the warning you need to know about. a huge water main break and it's creating a lot of traffic tieups. lauren had more but linda so is live there this morning whenw what's going on. >> reporter: megan, we are here at the corner of light and redwood.

this whole area is still blocked off. but one thing that has changed in the last 15 minutes that is lombard street over there. they have two more lanes opened so you can go straight on lombard. but just about 15 minutes ago, you can only take a left there on lombard. so, again, they will keep the two additional lanes opened for the morning commute. but a word to the wise. this area is still a mess. you can still see the big hole here on light street where that water main ruptured yesterday sending tons of water through the area and backing up traffic. you turn that commute into a mess and you can also see how that pressure from when the main broke caused the street to buckle. they have a lot of repairs to make all night crews here have been pumping the water out of the hole and so they can get to the bottom of this. this main sits pretty deep and they have a lot of work to get to. they don't know the exact reason why this main broke and if it was from the hot watt he or because the pipe was old. that's one thing they will get to the bottom of today. hopefully, but again this road

should be closed for the next couple days. it's going to take a while to make the repairs complete. so word to the wise avoid the area if you can. it will be a mess. live in downtown baltimore, linda so, abc2 news. 6:49 and new this morning a man who is part of a group targeted in an attempted robbery of pg county. he died after the woman he was with ran over him while trying to get away from the crooks. all this happened sunday night on oat street. the three gunmen order the group to get on the ground a woman inside the vehicle tried to get away from the crooks and accidentally ran over the man killing him. >> what can you do? where canny where. >> the crooks got away from the van that he used for work. no arrests have been made. this story is going to make you think twice about eating airline food. some passengers say they found needles in their sandwiches when they were on a flight. the fbi launching a criminal

investigation because the needles found over the weekend inside sandwiches served on board delta flights from amsterdam to four different u.s. cities. they were trying to learn who had access to the food on board the planes. and listen to what one passenger who ate a needle had to say. >> i felt a poke in the top of my mouth when i pulled it out of my mouth, it was very clear i cleaned the food off and it was about a one inch long straight needle. >> delta airlines says it has taken immediate action to ensure the safety and quality of its food. well folks out there inconvenienceed by the rash of storms and major power outages. more than 700,000. it seems like many of us may be kept holding the bag and all things are -- when all things are said and done. sherrie johnson is here to explain what we could find in our bills in the future. >> reporter: bge will collect as much as $600,000 from customers for not providing power after the storms. pepco will also make even more

pony because it has larger -- money because it has larger customer base. they will charge customers for the first 24 hours of the massive power out aims. some -- outages. some people suffered for a week, a maryland regulation called a bill stablation adjustment a-- stabilization ajustment allows them to charge customers whether or not they had coverage 24 hours. it will be 50 cents per customer. pgi has 1.2 million customers and some customers have mentioned emotions. >> i think people -- have mixed emotion. >> i think people are finding out about it. >> the storm is unseen or unheard of and no one could predict it. >> reporter: the fee will be be appear on september and october and it will be calculated whether you experienced an outage or not. sherrie johnson abc2 news. ray rice became richer this after signing a five-year 40

10,000 firefighters will come to baltimore for the annual fire expo. downtown landmarks will be lit up in red. the expo runs through saturday. the american diabetes association of maryland host an event to raise money. doctors say diabetes is the second costliest chronic disease costing more than $4 billion a year. the two hour event begins at maryland science center in baltimore at 6. charley sheen doing help -- charlie sheen doing help for the uso. actor now pledging to give 1% of his profits from the new fx show anger management to the military aid organization. the monies will fund an entertainment facility for injured troops in bethesda. all right. so take a look at what's going on right now as we look at mount airy. we are looking at some beautiful skies this morning. we do have a nice sunrise across the area. we are going to see that going throughout the day. plenty of sunshine with a few

high clouds which are making their way in across the area this morning. we look at temperatures right now where they are at 78 degrees. and baltimore and we are at 75 in hanover. upper 60s in glenwood and thomas point coming in at 80 degrees. it's been that way all morning. so we are going to soar with the temperatures. moisture content is up there once again. this morning, as we go into the afternoon it's going to be humid. not as humid as yesterday. but still humid nonetheless. so be prepared for some of the balmy weather. high pressure is the reason for the heat and humidity for today. and then we will see the cold front begin to move through the area. and as we look ahead, that cold front is going to bring some showers and gusty thunderstorms as we go through time. so, this is what we have to look forward to as we head into tomorrow and possibly thursday. future trend not picking up on a lot for today. we should stay dry heading out and about and then the wet weather will move in as we go into wednesday. but for today, that temperature coming in right around 98 degrees and that's the actual temperature some spots will hit about 100 degrees. but we will definitely feel

like about 101, 102. we have the potential for strong storms going into wednesday and thursday and we dry out and cool down by the weekend. time to get a check of the abc2 timesaver traffic with lauren cook. good morning. >> good morning. >> reporter: a medivac responded to a scene of a serious crash up in har forecounty. it's on woodsdale road at route 924. heading into the city, expect heavy delays downtown. it's due to yesterday's water main break. here's a live look right now. notice a lot of activity different than yesterday. but still keep in mind light street closed wean redwood and pratt. two lanes are now opened at light street but traffic really conjeffed in the area. use mass -- congested in the area. use mass transit or mlk as an alternate. a lot of congestion at liberty road continuing to route 40. new york city housing authority worker had to dib intobushes -- can be dive into bushes to rescue a girl who fell out of the widow.
