83 on the way for 99 degrees. we will talk about the pore forecast coming up in -- more about the forecast coming up in a minute. lauren cook with traffic. >> reporter: the water main break causing problems into downtown baltimore. between redwood and lombard street, light street is closed. if you are heading out to 95, this is what it looks like at 395. no problems to report in this area. it will be a easy ride through the fort mchenry tunnel. drive times to check in and see how the beltway is shaping up. 11 minutes on the west side, on the outer loop from 795 toward 95 and no concerns using the jfx to get into the city. 11 minutes from the beltway to downtown. megan, over a you. the problems caused by the water main break in the heart of downtown baltimore are shining a light on the city's aging infrastructure. we know the city plans to

replace two lines something that is going to take three weeks and charley crowson is live with the work being done on light street. this is going to be a mess because there's so many plans to go downtown over the next three weeks including this weekend with artscape. >> reporter: that's coming up this weekend. people may begin to change their plans. the two lines being replaced this is the ground zero issue of this massive hole on light street. crews not out right now and willcome out as the morning progresses to get the two lines replaced. one of the lines more than a century old. now today on the agenda, for the board of estimates meeting, there's an item for the bureau of waste water and water. this is a group in charge of getting things like this fixed including working on water treatment plants. the request is for 30,000 dollars to work on emergency repairs, things like this but work on light street is continuing two lines are being

replaced. you talked about that and this is going to take a number of weeks to get repaired. right now, we are being told it's going to take three weeks. >> we are going to remove those lines and replace them with new lines so once we go in, we can close this road and not have to come back again. >> reporter: the main reasons why dpw is asking for additional monies and they want to progress this weeks, months and years down the road megan. right now they are repairing 5 miles of water lines per year and want to up that to 40 miles to get the aging water lines repaired. like you said, these down here, one of these pipes dates back to 1914 and the other back to the 1880s. the concrete almost brick cast iron mesh that got the pipes going. time not being good to them and we are feeling the effects. 400 reported main breaks up to june alone. >> all right.

we will check in with you in a bit. thanks so much. today marks the 11th anniversary of another paralyzing event that happened in baltimore that involved a water main break. the howard street tunnel fire created gridlock for delays in 2011. it created we are talking 60 train cans to derail. the national transportation safety board determined the fire caused a main to burst making the cleanup incredibly difficult. today in an -- an annapolis man is is sentenced for his role in a paving scam. he pled guilty to acting as a contractor without a license. he had dozens of victims in maryland and florida and north carolina and dozens of other states. whoa offer to do -- he would offer to do jobs at a discount price and bump up the price later on. state general wants him to pay half a million bucks in restitution and penalties. also happening today, two men accused of a racially motivated shooting spree are

expected in tulsa in a courtroom. the judge will decide if prosecutors have enough evidence to go to trial. they confessed to shooting at five people killing three all of their victims african american. the two denied the shootings were racially motivated. and now the latest on the search for the two missing girls in iowa. searchers there are using scent dogs to try to find them. although the dogs pecked up a scent trail the fbi isn't saying what if anything that means. the cussin a8-year-old elizabeth collins and lyric cook were soon by their grandmother on friday. their bikes were later found near a lake which is being drained. a manhunt underway to fiend those responsible for a deadly shooting at a party in toronto. we brought you this story as breaking news yesterday morning. one person is in custody but police believe others may be involved. two people died dozens more were injured. witnesses described the chaos

at 4:30. extreme heat is keeping road crews busy all over the country trying to smooth out what they are calling pavement explosion. this is marathon county in wisconsin. crews are expected to be working on a highway for the entire week. that's because crews say they have had to repair several sections of the road that buckled through the 4th of july. and look at this. the intense summer heat forcing the animals at the zoo to phoned ways to cool down. zoo -- to find ways to cool down. animal could be seen hanging out in the shade or enjoying the water. the snow leopard get misted with cool water and others get ice treats. the polar bears spend more time in the water than the other animals. but for monkies and wolves they are iced to the hot weather. not us humans. >> my dog hates this heat. he is in the air conditioner laid out on his back and is

light of a report concluding that paterno and top university officials concealed information about sex abuse about jerry sandusky. time for health news this morning. could the weight of your baby that you give birth to actually put you at risk for breast cancer. well, scientists say yeah. they found that a study on women who delivered babies weighing in at least 8 and a quarter pounds were 2.9 times more likely to develop breast cancer. they found that mothers with the heaviest babies were more likely to have a biomarker level associated with breast cancer risk. researchers say hormonal changes could be the huge responsible factor for the increased risks. one down side of summer, ticks. thr so gross and if you -- they are so gross and they carry lyme disease and rocky mountain fever. doctors now suggest that they can also cause allergic reactions. they found that some people have a reaction to eating red
