sunshine coming up. look at temperatures starting out this morning right around 80. 81dc and a little cooler toward the mountains. 78 heading towards the western portion of the state. let's time out what's going on today. we will hit 100 at most spots hit 100. that's a line of gusty showers and thunderstorms. watch how it sags towards the south through the evening going into tonight. the temperatures start to fall into the 8 0á. but again it's -- 80s. but again it's overrunning heat and humidity. that's stability firing off showers and storms. everything clears out nicely but going into tomorrow there's the threat of a scattered shower and storm but we chip away the temperature by 10 degrees. break down the full forecast and show you that weekend forecast if you will hit the beaches we will share that coming up in a little bit. >> thank you very much, mike. traffic is starting to pick up this morning. we have a serious crash up in baltimore county in phoenix on old york road at glen berry court many we will bring you latest as it becomes available. more problems in northwest baltimore where there's an

accident on garrison boulevard at calloway avenue. and heading over on the beltway, this is what it look like at baltimore national pike. nothing to get in your way. it will be nice and clear up towards 795. and as we head on over to the parkville area this is what itlooks like at harford road. mog to get on your way towards 95. outer loop clear -- nothing to get in your way toward 95. outer loop clear. the water main break shuts down light street. charley crowson is live in downtown baltimore with an update on when the repairs will be finished. good morning charley. >> reporter: hey, good morning. the timetable we are hearing is three weeks until this water main is fixed. two pipes down there. 20 inch and 10 inch. both of them ruptured. and that caused major problems on monday afternoon. as a result, a number of blocks are closed down to lombard from lombard all the way up to baltimore because of that

detours are being moved all around. we are seeing foot traffic coming in and around the downtown area. we haven't seen as many cars. you know the headaches are going to be numerous today. but one gentleman we talked to is richard may. you make this walk every day five days a week. >> that's correct, sir. >> reporter: so monday, when all of this starts happening, what's going through your mind? >> well, i didn't really see it until yesterday morning. and i was like while it looked like a war zone yesterday morning, with everything being blocked off it's to walk down a block and back around to get to the transamerica building where i work. and i keep thinking of things like well, the temperatures are supposed to be in 100 degrees. and how long is this going to take to get fixed. the grand prix is coming up in another month or so, and it was just almost overwhelming. >> reporter: we have heard

reports 400 confirmed main breaks of some type in baltimore since june. this is an aging problem. that is result of age. these pipes date back to the 1800s and early 20th century as well. as the taxpayer are you getting tired of this? >> yes. this is something with a lot like with other things. if it had just been for a little bit of forethought and not what are we doing right now to try to catch up and get things taken care of but, gee whiz further down the road we will worry about this, this and that. and it seems like we are never going to get to a point where we really can address these problems before they become problems. >> thanks so much for your time this morning. we will let you get back to the truck and work. coming up later this morning at the board of estimates, water officials here in baltimore city will ask about 30,000 dollars for emergency repairs. we can only assume megan it's to continue fixing the issue.

three weeks out, more detours going into downtown baltimore in the inner harbor. and megan, a lot of people will be concerned because we have got festivals coming up this weekend. the o's are back in town next week and you have the general weekend traffic coming down to the inner harbor. >> we will have to keep on top of that. so many people head downtown baltimore for artscape which is this weekend. looking at news around the nation, surveillance video he caught a motorized school -- caught a motorized scooter mishap. woman tried to take the up escalator despite the fact there was a lift just 50 feet away. you can see her tall back -- falling backwards on other passengers a subway worker pushed the escalator emergency stop button. it turns out the woman managed to walk a-- or the worker managed to back away from the incident. pretty amazing sight. a man near pittsburgh jumped on from a moving vehicle to get away from some kidnappers. the whole thing is caught on

camera and it's incredible. you see a maroon van goes through the intersection and the man jumps out rolling on to the ground in his underwear and he starts running towards police to get help. >> i just seen a guy flying out the van running in his boxers like they just robbed me and they just you know robbed me help me screaming. >> the man said the van pulled up someone inside asked him for directions to a bar when he he told him he didn't know they grabbed him. they forced him to take his pants off and robbed him. then one gunman said they were going to have to kill him and they drove around the man jumped out as soon as he saw police and tried to get some help. other news this morning a. robbery suspect in columbus ohio you have to see this tried to get away from police by stealing one of their cruisers. take a look. that guy was one of two suspects wanted in connection with a burglary in an apartment. police approach the scene and shots were fired. and a man was killed.

been a controversial topic. maryland dream act. today president of the university of maryland baltimore county will join advocates for the american dream act. they are launching educating maryland kids. he will be beyond by auxiliary bishop of the catholic arch diocese and other folks. now the group is advocating for a yes vote in november to uphold the maryland dream act. the law ensures that maryland's students whose family play maryland state tax and gad waited from -- shall graduated from maryland high schools can play in-state tuition. the focus is building the momentum after announcement of the president protecting dream students from deportation and providing work permits. the event runs today at 12:30 to 1:30 on umbc campus on hill top circle. sherry jonson -- sherrie

are at 80 and the city limits checking in at 80. we have an excessive heat advisory in effect from 11 this morning right up until 8 tonight. just be advised this heat could become dangerous. we do have good news. maryland's most powerful radar has a cold front about 7 hours north and west of us. this drifts towards the south and will bust the heat out. but it will come with a gusty costs and shower and thunderstorm we forecast during the course of the day. future trend showing us well into the 90s to around 100 through the $200 hour. but see the storms lined up -- 2:00 hour. but see the storms lined up. 6 or 7:00 that's time to see severe weather and the line will cross through the eastern shore into the overnight. not as hot tomorrow. daytime highs around 90. just be aware gusty storms in the mix could be dangerous lightning and certainly the possibility of a little flash flooding. forecast for the afternoon 99 degrees. hot and humid.
