astounding way they got back in their cage. remember that cabbie who dropped the deuce? now he's a man on a mission to get it cleaned up. >> did you ever thing a pile of poo would get you so riled up? >> no, but my friends joke about that. >> it's a makeover of the scary kind. >> he's tattooed his eyeball. >> how this tough guy is going to top himself now. >> why would you do that? and a tiny car, a tiny space and some rowdy soccer fans. [ whistling ] >> see if she can parallel park it and share some driving secrets here at rtm. >> nick's an angry driver. >> you know that's not true. >> get out of my way! here at "right this minute" we're all about videos first. right now it's time for our first video of the day and this one has a pretty amazing story behind it. this is footage shot from a zoo in germany. >> that's a chimp on the loose.
4:32 pm
that's not a didngood thing. >> not just one chimp, five chimpanzees got out of their enclosure. according to the report from "the daily mail" which is where we got the story, these chimpanzees climbed out of their enclosure with a makeshift ladder with tree branches. this video was shot by a guy who just happened to be a tourist at this zoo when this happened. >> beth, please tell me they didn't attack anybody. >> luckily these chimpanzees did not attack anyone. people were wrangled into different areas of the zoo, like the gift shop. there was a 5-year-old girl that had some minor injuries and they say it was because one of the chimpanzees knocked her over. >> don't tell me the chimps got hurt? >> this is the other amazing part of the story. four of the five chimpanzees went back to their enclosure on their own. the other one was the leader of the pack, according to zoo officials, and he was easily coaxed back into his enclosure.
4:33 pm
>> i wonder what they'll do to prevent this from happening again. >> get rid of the branches. >> maybe next time they'll make a makeshift elevator. according to some reports, the zoo may have to foot the bill for all the police cars, ambulances, fire trucks, the emergency vehicles who came to help with the situation. an investigation is currently under way to determine exactly what went wrong. >> i wouldn't say what went wrong, i would say what went right. i think this was fascinating the chimps were able to do this and i think the zoo can obviously learn something from their behavior. remember this story that i showed you guys yesterday of a cab driver in philadelphia that pulled over to take a poop? >> yeah, leave a big old steaming pile of disrespect in the sidewalk. >> it got a lot of attention and created a lot of outrage. right this minute via skype we
4:34 pm
have thomas vander griff who shot the video. >> what did you think when you saw what this cab driver did. >> when i watched the video, it was very disturbing but at the same time it was quite funny for lack of a better word to describe it. >> it's so wrong in so many ways. >> it seemed to be too big for any of the animals that are in our neighborhood. >> were you surprised at the cab company's reaction. >> at first they were very pleasant to deal with. by 2:30 nobody cleaned it up and when i called back it became very heated. >> freedom taxi association sent this man out to clean up the mess and this is what nbc 10's cameras caught. >> i said i will get the pressure washer. i need a [ bleep ] connection. >> this is what i'm dealing with with freedom taxi. >> if i were that guy i'd be pretty upset too. i'd also understand why thomas is upset. >> as of right now it is still not cleaned up. >> really? >> no one wants to take
4:35 pm
ownership of it. >> a local tv station went to talk to the taxi company and an employee that did not want to be identified said that the driver had been fired. we have made several calls for the taxi company but have not heard back from them. >> are you happy the driver got fired? >> that was not my intent. what i would like to see happen is keep his job but make him do community service in this neighborhood. he told the cab company he was sick but he did finish the rest of his 12-hour shift. >> gross. did you ever in your wildest dreams think that a pile of poo would get you so riled up, and on national tv now? >> no, but my friends joke about that. only you can turn poo into something that everyone is talking about. i don't know what to think of it, i just want it cleaned up. got a little double dose of some scary surveillance video
4:36 pm
for you guys. the first is from houston, texas, as a convenience store. we see two suspects talking to 43-year-old clerk mutaza. they jump through the manager's window, follow this guy to the manager's office where they order him to open the safe. then they shot the guy through his arm and into his stomach. e clerk was able to tual ef he was taken to a hospital where he will make a full recovery. >> well, it's a good thing they were dumb criminals. number one, they didn't pay attention to the fact there were cameras everywhere, and number two they fingerprints everywhere so there's proof in the pudding as to who was responsible. two guys bust into the palms internet cafe in florida. one of them has a gun, another one has a bat. you'll never believe who comes to the rescue. a patron at the internet cafe, samuel williams, all 71 years of
4:37 pm
him, starts shooting at both of these guys. you see them running. he shot both of them. they trip over each other on the way out. samuel williams will obviously not face charges. he did have a permit to carry the weapon and his actions were justified. >> did they find these guys? >> the wounds were not life hef threatening. the two guys were arrested hours later and charged with attempted armed robbery. >> you can tell that guy had been to target practice too. that first time he almost gets down on his knees and starts firing. >> what a bunch of cowards. they couldn't run fast enough to get away. they're tripping over each other, running each other over out the door. >> he's standing like do i have to do some more? we have to thank our soldiers who are working in harm's way because they have to encounter a lot of dangerous stuff. this is in southern afghanistan where they're clearing up some ieds at meal time. >> did you see that? >> he's eating baked beans while they're taking out some ieds.
4:38 pm
>> i got your stuff. >> he goes back to eating right after the explosion. >> it's crazy how casual these guys are. like we eat sometimes at our job but our job is watching internet videos. >> that just shows you how good they are at what they do. this is their every day. they have got to have meal time while things are blowing up. >> now listen to what the guy said on youtube. i know it's crazy to be standing out in the open like i was, but at that point in the two-week clearance operation, i didn't care. lol. >> they said it was a two-week clearing operation of a bunch of ieds, so here they are eating their baked beans waiting to blow these things up so they don't cause any more danger to our service people serving over in afghanistan. >> it definitely shows you how powerful these ieds are because we often see the videos from the vehicles coming up right on them. >> hopefully he didn't get any dirt in his beans.
4:39 pm
some dudes duke it out on the subway. >> you're thinking, man, these two guys are attacking this guy with the long hair. >> the story behind the smackdown. and little birds with long little legs. >> they like their ants. >> it's like a little spatula. >> a rare look at the rare spoon-billed sandpipers, next. what makes a sleep number store different?
4:40 pm
you walk into a conventional mattress store, it's really not about you. they say, "well, if you wanted a firm bed you can lie on one of those. if you want a soft bed you can lie on one of those." what we do is, we provide the exact individualization that your body needs. never tried this before. this is your body there. you can see a little more pressure in the shoulders and in the hips. now you can feel what happens as we raise your sleep number setting and allow the bed to contour to your individual shape. oh wow, that feels really good. it's hugging my body. take it up one notch. oh gosh, yes. when you're playing around with that remote, you get that moment where you go, "oh yeah"... oh, yeah! ... and it's perfect. they had no idea that when they came to a sleep number store, we were going to diagnose their problems and help them sleep better. once you experience it, there's no going back. wow. right now, save $500 on our exceptional p6 bed set.
4:41 pm
and hurry in for the final closeout of our 2011 flexfit adjustable base. only at the sleep number store, where queen mattresses start at just $699. my opinion, golf just got a lot more watchable and a lot less boring. check it out. >> ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the mini golf open championship. >> yeah, mini golf championship. >> it's a spectacular day for mini golf and a new champion will be crowned. >> is this real? >> sadly, no. this is improv everywhere, the comedy troupe. they decided to bombard a golf
4:42 pm
course with all the trimmings of a pro sports event. >> we're going to have caddies, a huge imbalangallery of fans, scoreboard. >> here's the leaderboard. they even cutaway to a field reporter. >> the weather is difficult. we have some wind making it difficult. >> can you imagine if you just happened to take your kid to play on this particular day and this happened. >> you might think your kid was really on it. >> they crowned a winner as well. >> he got it! >> they even brought the claret jug from the open championship. >> the winner of the gold medal, champion golfer of the year. >> here's isaac in his post-win interview. >> who do you dedicate this victory to? >> my caddie. >> you dedicate it to your caddie. >> of course at the end of the
4:43 pm
win, your family joins you. >> isaac's wife and son are coming out to the court. >> i love improv everywhere, but i'm in love with them now. commotion on the subway in new york, this time at the lorimer station in brooklyn. it's all cenring with the long hair. these are other passengers tackling this guy. you might be thinking, man, these two guys are attacking this guy with the long hair, but no. >> he robbed me! >> apparently two women claim that this guy sexually assaulted them. one of these women said that this man groped her waist and buttocks as she was walking off another train. these two women chased this guy, identified as 30-year-old victor sigler, on to the el train, began screaming that this guy just assaulted them and that's when these two other passengers
4:44 pm
jumped in to sort of get ahold of this guy. the thing is, this kind of stuff happens on the train in new york if you ride the subway. they even make an announcement about this stuff. they say because the subways can get packed, if somebody is inappropriately touching you, say something. >> why are you going to do that to a woman in an enclosed space? that gives everybody a really good time to beat the crap out of you for sexually molesting a woman. >> the guy was arrested. we talked to the police and they said that victor sigler was charged with forcible touching, which is a class a misdemeanor. >> a lot of weird stuff happens on the subway and people just turn their eyes. i've got to hand it to these two guys to help these ladies out and get this guy to the authorities. >> they're like modern day knights in shining armor. check out this video. >> those birds are like all legs. >> how cute are these little guys? these are spoon-billed sandpipers, and this is only the second flock to be hatched in
4:45 pm
captivity. these little birds are actually critically endangered. most reports say there are less than 2500 of them in the entire world. >> where do they typically live, do you know? >> they show up on coastal areas, china, taiwan, vietnam, japan. asian countries. >> they like their ants. >> they scoop it up with like a little spatula. >> they look like something from a dr. seuss book. >> this little guy gets tired and he sits down. his little legs are out f front of him. look at him. >> i would love to see what they look like when they grow up. >> i expected them to be a lot taller. >> this hatching happened at the wwt wetland center in the u.k. this is part of an emergency conservation breeding mission because they are trying to make sure that this species continues to exist. >> cute chicks. >> they're interesting birds, man. i hope that they are able to keep them going becau.

it's hot, it's desirable, but it's tough getting it out of the box. >> people really like, they enjoy that unwrapping of the new electronic device. >> see the toy they all want and hear from the "l.a. times" reporter who thinks it could play with the ipad. breasts are the most amazing thing in the world because they may save lives. >> lula is back. see what he's got to say about the, you know, the whole breast thing. and don't forget, "right this
4:49 pm
for tech enthusiasts across the world, sometimes the best part about getting that new gadget is taking it out of the box. people really like, they enjoy that unwrapping of the new electronic device, the new item, right? this is a montage of people with their brand new nexus 7, which is the new seven-inch tablet from google and asa. now, the people in this video, you see them taking the tape off like it's christmas morning. all sorts of different people slowly unveiling their new device. some people even commenting that it's a very sturdy box, almost difficult to get into. >> first let's get this sucker out of the box, which is no small feat. >> one of the people you see is
4:50 pm
salvador rodriguez, a staff writer for the "l.a. times" and salvador has his own review of the nexus 7 and is joining us to talk to us about the procedure of opening up your new electronic device. why do tech people love unwrapping their n adts? expiee bause y onouly take it out of the box one time. for a lot of people, how it's presented to you sets the tone for the rest of your experience with the device in a lot of cases. >> what is it about this box? some people were saying it is challenging to open up. >> i was kind of surprised by the quality of it from google. it was really, really well presented but it seems like they kind of went over the top. >> i need a knife. >> so when i saw the video, i was happy because i thought it wasn't just me, there were other people having issues getting that thing -- letting you get to your toy. >> what's so cool about the nexus 7? >> it looks like it might be the first tablet besides the ipad that is worth buying. i played with it about two weeks and it is a pretty cool gadget.
4:51 pm
google is doing a good job competing but now they're really owning that top spot even ahead of apple in many cases. >> what are you going to do with the box even if you hold on to it? >> there's two reasons to save the box. if you do have to transport it, maybe you're moving and you don't want to go out and buy a case, your box is built to secure your item. the other thing is if you hold on to your box, especially with tech, that might get you an extra $20 to $30 if you try to resell it on ebay or craigslist even if it's used. >> you can see the video on our website, rightthisminute.com. we have more video of a woman parking. but this woman makes me proud. these are german soccer fans encouraging her to park this little car in this tiny space. [ whistle ] >> i think they're expecting her to fail and i think that's why
4:52 pm
they're all standing there. >> oh, but she doesn't fail. she uses a maneuver that i absolutely love. watch. she drives up on the curb. >> smart. >> she's not done. >> and the crowd goes wild. >> she nailed it, that's for sure. these guys probably could have picked up the car. >> let me say something here. i'm not sure if i'm prepared to say this. she was a good parker. she obviously was attempting this before the video started. this could be the last 45 seconds of a 15-minute attempt to get the car into this spot. >> it doesn't matter, she got in the tiny spot and i would like to applaud her courtesy. people drive the way they are in the world. a great example of how someone is, is to watch them drive. this woman is a kind woman. nick is an angry driver. road rage. >> she knows that's not true. >> it is true. >> where? >> one time i'm in the car, you're like get out of my way!
4:53 pm
