street signs and unmarked police cars dotting the road suggest the serious nature of crime but it's vi ripkens neighbors who heard it. >> i came out here about 7:25 to turn the pump on to the pool. if i saw what happened, i would have called police or would have been laying dead here. >> reporter: police say the maxed man demanded mother and ordered her back into his car at gun point, bound her hands, blindfolded her and drove away. 13 hours later police learned of the abduction for the first time when the suspect stopped for food and gas and a man spotted the 74-year-old woman with her hands tied inside the road on ebenezer road in baltimore county. >> he saw her tied up and cy said -- and said why is she tied

up. he said it's my mother and she has alzheimer's. it sound suspicious so he called the police. >> reporter: police checked the tag number on every vehicle. the victim left her purse and two cell phones at home so they couldn't track her that way many wednesday morning the suspect mysteriously drove ripken back to her block, got out of the car and simply disappeared. >> around 6:15 this morning she was located in her vehicle unharmed, not injured, in close proximity to her residence. >> reporter: at this poapts it's not clear that his abductor knef baltimore's icon. >> this is a crazy world after the shooting the other night.

all right. we want to go back in time to where police said the 911 call was made that started this unbelievable story. brian kuebler with more. >> reporter: all police will tell us is there was a 911 call describes a suspicious vehicle. that call came in from the ebb ben niecer -- ebenezer road and whitemarsh. federal authorities stopped by earlier in the day asking each business about its surveillance video. managers at both locations said the feds were interested in any cameras that had any view of ebenezer road. authorities wanted to know if a camera caught it. both businesses said none of their surveillance cameras are trained on the main road and may not be of any help. right now we're left that vague description of the suspect who

hours after failing an exam for a doctorate program back in june. according to fox news holmes isn't a notebook that contained details on how he was going to kill people but the package remained unopen for nearly a week before it was found on monday. after the initial shock and horror of another mass shooting here, the focus turned to the nation's gun laws. neither president obama nor mitt romney have made it a focus. we look at the colorado shooting and the public's sentiment on gun control. >> reporter: americans have a historic love affair with guns and fierce keep your hands off of them attitude. in the wake of the horrific colorado shooting, some politicians, mostly democrats

we have newly released video of a 10-year-old being bullied on a school bus. it's from may of 2011 and shows two teens abusing him. the abuse includes name calling, racial and sexual slurs and they hold a hot lighter to the boy's skin as the boy screams. the mother wants others to see

williams is a recovering drug addict. after 18 years on drugs she's turning her life around at marion house. >> we want them to come in knowing that they are individuals who have worth, individuals who have the ability it do all the things that they want to do and that there is a's they can call home, a place where they will get the love and support and also, they will be held accountable here. >> reporter: carol has been clean for nine months. she takes it one day at a time. marion house provides housing for homeless women, those recently released from prison and drug treatment facilities. women find love and support here and the knowledge they can succeed. >> i couldn't do it alone. i needed more support to help me get through all the things i was going through. wanted that long term care.

shows a group of patients have a higher risk of heart attacks. patients over 60 years old were more than 25% more likely to have a heart attack within two weeks of surgery. six weeks after surgery, the risk of heart attack dropped. summer is a great time for kids to get out and play. sometimes accidents happen. it's best to prevent injuries. the type of shoes your child wears is important. >> wearing closed toe shoes is key. flip-flops or sandals make injuries more likely if you were to trip. >> first stop the bleeding. clean the area with soap and wart and protect it -- water and protect it with a band aid. you always want to cope your family safe. that includes your pements.
