that allows for us to get to 98 degrees. we'll be into the 70s. showers and storms in the mix. we'll track it and your seven-day weekend forecast coming up. an update to the breaking news we have been following all day. police say they have threatened a man -- arrested a man who threatened a shooting. he worked at pitney bowes. the investigation started on wednesday and ended early this morning. >> reporter: an early morning raid on park ridge circle turns up a virtual arsenal of weapons after a disgruntled employee threatened a mass shooting at his workplace here in pg county's county. >> he said i'm a joker. i'm going to load my guns and blow everyone up. that initiated a 36-hour

investigation. >> the unidentified man worked for years for pitney bowes at an industrial park in capital heights but the threat came over the telephone hams the supervisor advised him he was fired. at a moving company next door she reflected on the threat which struck so close to home. >> that is so scary that people are actually going that way, that route to want to harm inknow sent people because they lost their job or the boss, imitating what some other psychodid in colorado. that's just crazy. >> authorities in pg county contacted anne arundel police who con fronted the man at his home. during a field interview the man was wearing a t shirt that said "guns don't kill people, i do." the judge ordered a search warrant. when officers and federal agents

entered the home in the wee hours of the morning, they were surprised at the firearms,. >> firearms were semiautomatic rifles, semiautomatic pistols. >> the suspect was taken to the anne arundel medical center for psychiatric evaluation. >> while the man is in custody, they are withholding his name. this comes one week after the massacre at the theater in colorado. we learn the accused gunman was being treated by a psychiatrist before the shooting. today holmes' lawyer filed a motion to find out how it was he sent a package. it was discovered on monday. it's not clear when it was sent. police say the supervisor at pitney bowes respond correctly. the threat was made so they

called police but the warning signs are not always quite that obvious. joce sterman picks up our team coverage oar loor there are always questions after a mass shooting. could this have been prevented. were there red flags. in the case of the fort hood shooter, even column bean, experts say things that should cap your attention, seeing people with chronic depression who isolate themselves from others. and when others begin blaming others. if the person is convinced that the world has done them wrong. experts say there's some type of catastrophic event, for example, losing a job or the relationship ending. if you notice someone is experiencing the symptoms, you have to speak up. just because someone is depressed doesn't mean they're

state. however, not everyone is a wi -- happy with that idea. >> i want to avoid that emergency and keep that from ever happening again. >> republicans aren't sold on the idea. they say this shouldn't go forward so quickly and should be debated a little bit longer. there's little time for public comment. two crooks apparently knew exactly what they wanted out of a home in hanover. police say two armed men busted into a house in the 7800 block of clark road about 6:00 yesterday and stole prescription meds. police said these were not random acts, that the two victims were targeted. police received several tips but still looking for the man who ab dpuctd violet ripken.

aberdeen police say the man abducted cal ripken's mom from her home tuesday morning. she was found down the street in a car a day later. we're learning more about the hospital worker police say caused an outbreak of hepatitis c. he was found drunk in a hotel room a week before his arrest. -- a week before his arrest there was a suicide note that said he couldn't handle the stress anymore. he's a medical technician and accused of stealing drugs from a hospital. he worked in hospitals in seven states including right here in maryland. those thunderstorm that is rolled through our area last night had one harford county scrambling to trito save their home. around 10:00 last night a lightning strike set their

interior gas line on fire. there were some -- was some fast action and smart thinking. they were able to knock the fire down quickly. >> the most valuable lesson is how important it is to have a fire extinguisher in the house. this was a matter of seven minutes topped and this was all engulfed in flames. >> there were several lightning strikes in the harford area during the storm including one near per kens police and in morrisville. mazda announces the recall of 200,000 tributes. it comes on the heels of ford's escape recalls. there are acceleration issues in the ford escape and the mazda tribute as part of the

investigation of a crash. mazda is recalling 200,000. the father had mixed concerns. >> it's a shame that my beautiful baby girl had to die. >> the automaker said the problem is caused by a speed control cable getting stuck when the gas pedal is almost fully depressed forcing the throttle wide open and the car to spin out of control. some auto safety experts are calling it insufficient saying ford and mazda need to replace the cable itself. they will continue investigating despite the recall. remember, if you can't stop an

that's our daytime high. 0 -- 70-degree dew point. all the moisture in play could laid in storm development. 90 in town. 91 in easton. 97, impressive with all that sunshine. it feels like it's 103. feeling like 97 in town. it feel the like it's 95. maryland's most powerful radar is clear. as you head toward the south look at the big storms. it's shelf clouds and another powerful storm moving through parts of cincinnati, toward cleveland. that's what we will be watching. 8:00 hour going into the 11:00 hour we'll get back into the 70s. start your day tomorrow morning. we're on our way to 91 with humid conditions. humidity in play could allow for more storms. you can see the cold front just

out toward the west. it's a slow mover interacting with all the humidity coming up out of the south. that's the ingredient for the garden variety pop-up showers during the course of not only saturday but indications are maybe sunday could feature a shower. the real heat over the center portion of the country, that stays to the south and the west. the next several days will be normal temperatures. the humidity increases as we head into next week. a few of the showers and storms popping up. lower 70s for tonight. by tomorrow afternoon back up to 90 degrees. notice some of the showers and storms starting in the western disoams. even the eastern shore, along the delaware beaches. here's the prime one into sunday evening. more storms possible with temperatures into the 80s. your shore cast for tomorrow, 87, 88. that water temperature a beautiful 79 with the afternoon
