conner drowned 6 years ago and serves as a safety net for a boy who nearly stuffed the same fate. conner played a role in saving someone's life. >> this is such an amazing story, charlie. this weekend, an 8 year old boy was found lifeless at the bottom of a pool. cpr saved him and a back up plan helped. he was playing with a friends. a lifeguard noticed him in the deep end. he got him breathing again. an aed added protection. the incident happened after conner's law went in to place mandating defibrillators. conner drowned at crofton country club in 2006. >> we feel a hand of conner reaching down and helping this little boy. the family is going to have a

school year to plan instead of a funeral. people as v aspirations for conners law. >> trying to get the word out. conner's law mandating defrib raters is considered in queen anns county. the goal is to take it nationwide to save more lives. prince georges county police officer is recovering from injuries after shot. this happened early saturday morning in langley park. authorities say 3 people left a galaxy nightclub, they drove around the parking lot and opened fire out of the car. the officer was hit in the leg by a bullet. the is the 5th time, in a little more than 18 months that a prince georges county police officer has either been shot at or shot. this is unprecedented. >> police pulled the car over a mile from the nightclub, all three people were inside. officers say the gun was

recovered. a baltimore man has been arrested, police say the 24 year old brought three women back to his home for drinks, raped one, fired a gun at all three and held one of them at gunpoint. more on the story at abc2news.com. 7 people are dead after a semi truck collided with a van on a highway near phoenix arizona. all killed were inside the van. a semi truck crossed the media and crashed head on with the van. the two people in the semi, the driver and his wife were taken to nearby hospitals with serious injuries. a scary ordeal for people riding the super man roller coaster. they got stuck at the top of the ride for an hour and a half sunday. rescue crews had to bring in a crane to get the riders down. the ride opened a month ago, a spokeswoman says the ride will remain closed until they get a

today. >> lots going on in court today. today the prosecution will formally charge james holmes for the shooting death of 12 people and wounding 58 hours. holmes could face hundreds of charges including 12 counts of first degree murder, 58 counts of attempted murder, reckless endangerment for the explosives found in his apartment. some victims and families will be in court. at the center is a notebook holmes sent to a psychiatrist, the book includes plans for a massacre. >> if a psychologist or psychiatrist feels someone they are treating, a patient, may pose a threat in most states they are obligated to do something. >> holmes' attorney claims seizing the notebook is a breech of confidentiality between a patient and doctor. they will argue over it today in court. >> the images of holmes in caught, the red hair , the eyes

we are expecting for today. >> reporter: race organizers will be here at 11:00 this morning, to tell us about what will be happening over the next month, placing the first jersey barrier to mark the start of construction for the racetrack. most of the construction will happen in the final weeks leading up to the race on labor day weekend. you will see jersey barriers and fencing, along streets where the race will happen and putting up several grand stands. race organizers say the work will be done at night so it doesn't affect commuters. in the week before the race, streets along the course will be closed so crews can work through the night. this year's race will be on friday, saturday, and sunday, of labor day weekend. tickets are still available. live in downtown baltimore, linda so, abc2 news. five things to know before heading out the door, 400 pilots will be in front of the white house protesting, they are calling for the outsourcing
