identified himself as a joker and would shoot up the workplace. it comes one week to the day of the colorado movie theater massacre. now we learned that neil prescott will only face a misdemeanor charge. prosecutors made it clear, they feel this punishment will not be enough. >> reporter: i feel when people like mr. prescott threat enviolence, he ought to face felony charges, but the state does not make it a felony. >> a warrant has been issued for his arrest. he will be taking into custody as soon as he is released from the hospital. all the guns found in prescott's

home were obtained legally. we'll have much more including how prosecutors are working with state lawmakers. police say that 40-year-old jonathan blankenship was killed after officers were called to the home for a family fight. the first officer struggled and was on the ground with blankenship when a second officer found a knife nearby. the shooting is under investigation and a report will be handed over to the police department and the state attorney's office when this has been completed. lots of clouds mixed with blue skies. we have a look at the forecast.

we have storms over the extreme northwest corner. our employed map shows numbers ranging between 69 and 73. when we do bring this out we're headlining humidity. the humidity in play could bring in storms during the course of the evening. we're clear across baltimore and much of baltimore county. let's slide it toward the north. upfind spotty storms. this storm, once severe, we could see a pop-up scattered shower or thunder shower. there's a decent amount of lighting in. 5:46, taneytown. if are a going from the northwestern part you may encounter the storms. let's go back over to the

academic instead of enrichment programs. during the summer months young ladies get a chance to take advantage of educational opportunities at the north baltimore campus. abc2's sherry johnson has more. students are working on projects with clay. this eighth grader had so much fun he's back again. >> i like how there's more independence rather than being in class tend gives us a much longer time. we're here for two and a half hours as opposed to 40 minutes. >> this clay course is designed to teach students about hand building techniques but it's in the just about art. students also take advantage of academic courses. students are working on circles

and initial properties. the summer session offers enrichment. >> i think they had fun, hopefully, while they were learning something new and being challenged to see what their limits are and their ability. i would say the academic programs probably help the students be prepared. >> reporter: during the school year, the gill man school is all boys. during the summer months, young ladies take advantage of it. students enjoin everything from stem courses, art programs, math and s.a.t. prep courses. this 10th grader decided to take a summer school course to get ahead. >> i like my class. i like my receiver and it's a lot of information in one day, but the thing is it's only a two-hour class. i go home and i have all the time to study and do everything. >> reporter: thanks to this wide

in tonight's health alert, just a few cups of coffee could possibly make a difference for people with parkinson's disease. the disease atacts the nervous system. people who consume caffeine are less likely to get parkinson's. now a study shows caffeine can relieve the symptoms. two to four cups of coffee a day had a modest improvement. everyone has heard of the freshman 15, the pounds, the first year college students are expected to gaifnlt it's supposed to be inevidenten but do students really put on that much weight? they say the gain is more like seven pounds. in a recent ohio state study, it found the number to be lower. if you want to cep your college
