a 15 minute ride and as we pull up other drive times you'll notice the beltway is in great shape this morning. and here you're taking a live look actually at 95 at eastern avenue and you'll notice everything going to be up to speed. but back@drive times 695 no problems on the outer loop from 95 up to 83. just 11 minutes for that stretch and the west side also going to be nice and clear. traveling on the outer loop from 795 down to 95 you're looking at an 11 minute ride as well. megan and charlie, over to you. we may say that baltimore city streets are beginning to look like swiss cheese as yet another water main break lauren was just telling you about that. this one in kent avenue the northeastern part of the city. abc2 news linda so is live speaking to neighbors the morning. also, they're familiar with something like this too. >> reporter: yeah. because their basements are flooded because of this water main and it happened three years ago. the progress they've been able to make, crews have been here all night since the main broke at 11:00 last night. you can actually see the crack

along that pipe. it's about a nine foot crack to this 16-inch water main. what they've been able to do. they've shut off the water and pumped a lot of it out. they're now getting ready to cut off that bad section so they can replace it with a new one. they're just waiting this morning to get that new section so they can replace it. in the meantime water has been shut off here along the 2800 block of kirk avenue. joining us this morning is kim collins. she's been with us all night sending us pictures of her basement that's been flooded and joined by a neighbor here to tell us what happened. first of all let's talk to your neighbor first. you have flooding in your basement. >> yes, ma'am. my name is denise taylor and i live at 1520 and my basement is so using stump hole and still not working. we called the baltimore city -- and they can't bring nobody out to come and suck the water up. but it's not our faults, that's coming from inside the bottom of the ground.

so why can't we get help with sucking the water out if it's not our fault and they won't help us pay for our damages if it does get messed up and i think that's totally wrong. >> reporter: that's got to be frustrating. >> i sleep in my basement and i have my shoes and clothes and everything is in my basement. it's like if that's gone i don't have no way to replace it. >> reporter: kim you were telling us the same thing happened three years ago almost to the day. another water main break back then. the flooding was a lot worse. you've been frustrated it's like deja vu for you. >> exactly. deja vu all over again. especially because i know -- the city may come back again and say well they're not responsible for the damage. but i'm still living with the mold and mildew from the last flood. >> reporter: all right. well thank you for joining us. again we'll stick with you throughout the morning and hopefully get you some help out here but back out here live on the 2800 block of kick avenue. public works crews are doing their best to fix this water main. until they do water is shut off

to the homes in the area and also you should know that the roads around here, kirk avenue and the 2800 block where it meets abbotston street will be closed until they can fix this completely. live in northeast baltimore, linda so, abc2 news. annealed ily michigan got couple on -- an elderly michigan couple got an overnight surprise. he had been drinking and he hopped into bed with the couple. they quickly jumped out and immediately called police. the house was double the legal -- the legal limit for being drunk and also told police he left his children home alone. he's charged with burglary and child neglect. walgreens employees in trouble this morning for stealing money but this is no run of the mill crime because they actually left behind an iou note. matthew cumberland was caught on camera emptying the cash out of the register and took nearly $700. police say he worked at the

store and was upset he couldn't get more hours. he said he quit which i guess would probably be assume after he stole the money and the place was a joke. >> ironically that night he was in contact with a night manager. and actually brought money back. when i picked him up on the warrant tonight, i asked him about that. and he said that he brought most of it back. he went and paid his cell phone bill first. >> cumberland was charged with robbery and he will not have a good reference from that place of course. the place of employment probably won't be doing that. >> not at all. news time this morning is 5:34. just in case you can't wait we have some fashion news. >> only august right now but let's talk about who's best dressed for the year. we'll take a look. >> also twitter now getting into politics. how the blogging site is using tweets to share how you feel about the candidates vying for the white house. morning to you. 67 west friendship. 67 frederick. we're seeing more 67s in goldsboro also northeast. 68 in norrisville and 72 in glen burnie and annapolis right now. 71 degrees. we will be keeling with a little bit -- deal with a little bit of visibilityishes in some spots this morning. only about three miles in york but that's better than the two we saw the last time i showed you. once in fred hundred -- one in frederick and culpeper at three miles of reduced visibility. so we're speaking of the visibility and it's time now to get a check of the traffic with lauren cook. good morning lauren. you've been talking about a water main break what's going on with? yes, it happened actually last night and it continues to impact traffic in northeast baltimore. kirk avenue is closed right now at abbotston street as repairs are underway. so you will want to stick with harford road or loch raven boulevard as your alternate route and linda so is on the scene and she'll update you on the repairs and just how much damage that burst did cause. if you are headed out to95

though we are dealing with disabled car southbound at the fort mchenry tunnel. fortunately not having much of an impact on traffic because speeds are locking in at a very nice 57 miles per hour. if you are traveling on the jfx, everything will remain up to speed and here's a live look at the topside of the beltway in towson at delaney valley road. the reduced visibility in the area but no real traffic concerns. it will be a pretty easy ride up to 83. megan and charlie, over to you. yesterday cars were lined up at chick-fil-as around the country showing support for the president of the restaurant. >> when supporters of same sex marriage turn out tomorrow to protest the restaurant. back out here at the abc2 news live desk and traffic alert you need to know about if you're heading in east baltimore this morning. a third water main break in as many weeks now causing some serious problems living for people in those issues, this one along kirk avenue and abc2 news linda so has been there and for just a few hours and linda how have things improved since you arrived? >> reporter: they've made a lot of progress. let me show you where we are. we are right behind city college. this is the 2800 block of kirk avenue. where public works crews have been working throughout the night since last night at

around 11:00 when this 16-inch main water main broke. you can see this is the hole where it happened. you can see that crack it's about a nine foot crack. that caused this water main to flood the city streets. right now they are pumping out the extra water. they've been able to turn the water off. so that they can get that water down cut off that broken pipe, and replace it with a new one. you can see crews have been out here all morning. the problem that this is causing for area neighbors right around the corner is abbotston street. the 1500 block of abbotston street can this morning we actually talked to two people who lived there who say their basement has been flooded with water. this is a problem they dealt with almost three years ago to this day when the same thing happened. a 16 inch main broke back then flooding their basements. but again right now, today, the problem they're dealing with they've got -- you know, a mess

in their basements. some have lost their clothes, shoes, things that they keep down there. and again, the problem is because this water main break is something that obviously happens naturally the city won't be able to help them as far as cleaning up that mess. that's leaving some of the homeowners frustrated but again, city public works crews tell us they've been able to make a lot of progress and right now they're waiting on this new section of the pipe to get here to replace this cracked piece. again, this is about a nine foot crack along a 16-inch water main break. water to the homes in that area has been shut off and you can expect the roads in this area along the 2800 block of kirk avenue to be closed until they can completely fix this water main break. we'll have another live update for you coming up in about 15 minutes. we're live in northeast baltimore, linda so abc2 news. five things to know on this thursday.

a beam signed by president barack obama and the first lady in june will be put in place today at one world trade center to the 105th floor of the building. lieutenant governor brown will be holding a public forum on the initiative to improve health care for underserved areas. now the goal of the health enterprise zones is to enhance health services and reduce health disparities using incentives like tax breaks for medical providers who work in the area. well, if you own a home in frederick county you may soon get property tax relief. today the county commissioners will vote on whether to refund over $6 million in surplus revenues to the homeowners. each would receive about $100 check. house lawmakers passed a plan to keep your taxes lower. the measure keeps bush era tax cuts for all americans not just those who make under $200,000 a year. president obama promise today veto the measure and he wants to keep tax cuts for the middle class. former nfl running back and baltimore raven jamal lewis is back home this morning. he was arrested tuesday night

accused of not paying child support. he was released on bond from a georgia jail after midnight wednesday. tomorrow is a protest expected to be held at chick- fil-a restaurants across the country. gay rights groups are having what anyway calling a -- they're calling a kiss in sending a message against the company owner but a show of support wednesday for that franchise. check out the line of customers at a location in forest hill. it was called chick-fil-a appreciation day. and thousands of people came out to get a chicken or buy chicken products to show their support for president and coo dan cathy. he doesn't allow his chain open on sundays because of his religious beliefs. well the medal count for the u.s. at 29 right now and each winner is going to owe the government some money when they bring home the medals! this surprises people. the olympians. >> they are not tax exempt. florida senator mark rubio wants to change that. he introduced a bill that would exempt medal winners from

yesterday. >> you have to call me from now on. because if i'm home watching the same thing i can't watch this alone. >> okay charlie i love it. okay let's talk about what's going on root now. because we are dealing with mainly clear skies and we do see a few high clouds off back towards the west there. and we will get a little bit of a sun/cloud mix throughout day. mainly we should be dry and also look at what we're seeing as we step out in urbanna. frederick, we have some patchy fog. reduced visibility about one mile across that area. so as you head out and about this morning, take it easy on the roadways. look at the temperatures right now in baltimore. coming in at 70 degrees there. 60s from york to frederick. upper 60s in hagerstown right now. and we're at 76 degrees in d.c.. culpeper coming in at 70 degrees. now as we walk you through the day, we are looking at your neighborhood forecast. so hampton at lunchtime coming in at 88 degrees and partly cloudy skies. 89 in glen burnie. as we slide a little bit further to the south, looking at temperatures around hills mere shores 87-degrees there

and we'll be right around 88 degrees in shadyside at lunchtime for today. so it's going to be a good day to eat the lunch outdoors and i say a good day because it will be dry and you shouldn't be getting wet out and about. but you could stay wet in a different area because we are going to be humid once again. that's going to stick around for the next several days. you can see temperatures will remain hot in the 90s as we head into sunday. temperatures will drop back down a bit as we go into your monday and tuesday. but then temperatures will pick back up as we head into the middle ovination week. so we're sort of on a roller coaster ride into august. let's get a check now of the abc2 timesaver traffic with lauren cook. good morning. how are the roads looking? good morning lynette. well, there are a few things that could get in the way this morning. in northeast baltimore we are dealing with a new water main break that shuts down kirk avenue right at abbotston street. in the area stick with harford road or loch raven boulevard as the alternate route. and unfortunately we're still dealing with the water main break in downtown baltimore that happened last month. so light street remains shut

down that's tight between lombard street and baltimore street. stick with hopkins place or mass transit to get around the mess. if you are using the tunnels everything up to speed through the fort mchenry tunnel and the harbor tunnel and here's a live look at the south side of 95 just not guilty of interstate -- north of interstate 195. no problems getting down to d.c. this morning or the city. drive times and 38 also going to be nice and clear. that jfx just 11 minutes from the beltway all the way downtown to east fayette street. no problems on 695 that outer loop from 95 up towards 83 no delays whatsoever. an 11 minute on the west side to travel the outer loop from 795 down towards 95. megan and charlie, over to you. well, zebra either certainly cool to -- they are certainly cool to watch at the zoo or the "national geographic" channel. >> but in the backyard? where one zebra is living now. no plans upon going to the plains -- on going to the plains. details on this straight ahead.
