of baseball vi ripken. cal will talk to us for the first time. we have all played detective, trying to piece together what happened. she was driven around, bound and tide. you've seen the pictures. tomorrow cal will be the lone ripken to speak and give us an update on this case. it will be held at 10:00 at warehouse at oral park. before the news conference you'll be able to see cal on abc2. he will be on "good morning america" at 7:30 tomorrow morning right past good morning maryland, which starts at 4:30. weeks of detours came with the recent water main break on light street but problems with the aging infrastructure continued on a daley bay -- daily basis. it flooded customers and left customers in the dry. the same pipe burst three years ago causing similar flooding.

>> two inches of water in some of the basements. we have pumps to help pump out. housing working with us so we can dry out the basement, providing claim forms. >> the city has about 4,000 miles of water pines -- pipes and average about three water main pipes a day, about 1,000 a year. what you should do if you are living in this row home. >> reporter: this is cell phone video taken last night after a 16 earn water main broke in northeast baltimore. neighbors say this isn't the first time this main has broken sending water rushing into the streets. for kim collins, it's a problem compound by the house next door. >> what happened three years ago when this was vacant when they were pumping all of our basements out, they couldn't get

into the house. they weren't going in because they felt it was structurally unsafe. they never pumped the wart out. that water sat there, eroded the ground, the basement and of course i'm next door. >> reporter: this video shows water coming through the vacant building next door right into kim's basement. >> we use this space like a family area. no one can live down here at this point because everything gets mold on it because of what's going on at the house next door. >> reporter: the owner of that vacant house -- baltimore city. kim contacted the city several times asking that something be done about it. the city acknowledged her request but she's still waiting. >> abandoned. no one cares about it. it's falling apart and a liability to my house. it's going to affect my house, which is going to depreciate.

>> reporter: we contacted the baltimore city housing authority. they said they were at the property two days ago and are cleaning it up. they say they know that's a problem and they will stablize it. in northeast baltimore, i'm manny locke. >> the city said if kim's home has any damage, she needs to submit a claim to the law department. the department of public works said those of you -- there are reports of cloudy or discolored water. they say that's nothing to worry b it's from naturally occurring minerals and coming from the loch raven reservoir. the department of public works says it will not hurt you. if you are concerned about your water call the water and sewer maintenance department. you see the number 410-612-1612.

police in anne arundel county say this marks 25-year-old kyle tanner went no an annapolis movie theater and created a panic. halfway through the showing of madagascar three he sat in the front row and began talking loudly to himself and to the characters in the screen. witnesses satanner left the movie a few times, came back and began pointing his finger like he had a gun. he began cursing at people. in the dark people thought he had a gun. people panic and ran out of the movie theater. police found tanner a short time later. police are not taking it lightly. >> we take these matters extremely seriously. >> tanner is charged with reckless endangerment, assault and disorderly conduct.

police are investigating an overnight shooting on parkton street just off frederick avenue. officers fond an ambulance on the scene taking care of the victim who was take on it shock trauma where he died. police have not released the name of the victim or the motive. in our consumer alert, every time you walk to the thermostat and turn down the ac bge says your august electric bill will be high. the extra hot summer meant high ac usage. even those without power, the storms in july will see a bit. bge says you may be able to cut your bills by enrolling into the smart energy savers. abc2 is working for you. set your air conditioner at 72 or higher. wait to use appliances like your stoves, ovens, dishwashers and clothe dryers until after 9:00

at 9:00 and get your ac inspected and seal off gas. speaking of bge bills, we have a warning from catholic charities about a scam going around using bge bills and its names. catholic charities said somebody is making posts on facebook promising to pay off their bge bills. all you have to did is give them $150 and your bill will disappear. this is a scam. they are trying to take advantage of people had have fallen on hard times. >> when we see scams like this it's disturbing. it's our obligation to not only protect our name but to seek out to people so they know what services are available to them. >> they say they never ask for donations over the phone and they don't solicit people over facebook. with the tight economy we see scams like this all the

time. if something seems too good to be true, this probably is. >> first of all for example, if somebody out of the blue calls a mnd promises to pay a utility bill or told you have been awarded a grant. say why me. why i would be selected. >> abc2 is working with you with the better business bureau. first, never give personal information over the phone. do your roi. call the company in this case catholic charities and ask if the offer is legitimate. if you find yourself a victim of the scam, call your bank and put a fraud alert on your credit report. we're about to reveal the like results. so turn down your tv and look lay way for 30 seconds if you don't want to know what happened. michael phelps added to his medal collection today with another gold. michael becomes the first male

that will bring in the storms once again for tomorrow. out to the west there's a cold front that's starting to slip through the u.p. of michigan. that's going to allow for some scattered showers and storms. look at temperatures, 87, 89 into d.c. let's hope to -- hop to the west and south central plains. look at this heat. 108. earlier 110. some of that is in our direction but not extreme heat they're dealing with in oklahoma. 74, 78. the numbers through midnight into tomorrow morning. by 9:00 89 degrees. this model is indicating there could be a scattered shower with temperatures that are into the 80s and we're back i into the 90s as we segue into friday and saturday. be aware of spotty showers in

the mix. we have a new system, tropical storm ernesto that's making its way toward the west at 19 miles an hour. the hurricane center as it at 50 miles an hour sustained winds. in terms of the track, it will be interesting. the closer it gets to south america, this will be torn apart. right now we'll continue to watch it. this is indicating could be up to a hurricane status south of cuba. 73 for the overnight. partly cloudy, very muggy. it's mild. in some cases it's hot. 94 with afternoon storms developing. weather in a word on this seven-day is unsettled. 94 on friday. saturday 93. isolated shower and more numerous showers on sunday. 89 on monday, still the chance for a late day shower. indications are maybe this lingers into tuesday and wednesday with temperatures near 90. if you're making the weekend plans, which day should i have
