charley over to you. a small community in wisconsin trying to coming to terms with the senseless act of violence that resulted in 6 people dead a gunman walked into a sikh temple yesterday morning in the oak creek area and opened fire. he then started to fire at police when they arrived and an officer did shoot and kill the shooter. there's no connection twoon the suspect and tem bell but -- between the suspect and the temple but many who lib in theneighbor -- live in the neighborhood believe they were targeted because of their religion. >> they shouldn't be mistaken by us because we have turbans and our religion is very peaceful. >> one office wears injured during the shooting -- was injured during the shooting. investigators willer is. gunman's home to find clues ofwhy this happened. oak creek which is conmay be hundreds of miles away but the sikh community is close- knit. linda so is here to tell us how a local sikh population is hoping to reach out to those affected by the shooting in

end. leave a comment on abc2 facebook fan page and let us know what you have to say. police are vetting two -- investigating two stabbings. one at bar in edgewater during the weekend where police say 64- year-old roberto garcia stabbed a mane was drinking with. the victim is expected to be okay. garcia is charged way tempted murder and assault. police are also trying to figure outd william brown at an apartment complex in annapolis that happened early saturday morning. an elderly woman live alone is dead following a fire at her home in reisterstown. investigators are not sure what caused the fire on saturday. it broke out at 426 main street when crews arrived, heavy smoke could be seeing pouring out of the back of the house. it took 15 minutes to get the fire under control. it is believed it started in a bedroom in the back of the home. we still don't have that woman's name. and new video this morning of a fire at a denny's raft runt in harford couldn't --

restaurant in harford county. it started in the bathroom on the 1300 block of edgewood road and spread to the attic and roof. this is who police say is a person of interest in the fire. the photo is blurry but they want to speak out on the man in the orange shirt in the lower right hand corner of the photograph. if you have any information, call the number on the screen. 800-492-7529. well children of illegal immigrants pay the same in state tuition your child play. those in favor of the dream act came out in support of a rally in silver spring which allows undocumented immigrant children to pay in-state tuition some say that's not fair. but students say it's their only chance at going to school. >> they don't know what student go through when they find out they can go to school they can pursue higher education. >> maryland taxpayers are

we have unsettled weather toward the west and unsettled weather close to home here. we are still dealing with a few showers trying to move across the bay. this will linger heading through the morning and that cold front has not cleared the area and won't be until later tonight and then we will feel a little less humid heading into tomorrow. right now, though, temperatures at 72 in west friendship. millersville at 75. rock hall close to 806789 more in goldsboro. 76 in galena and good morning northeast you are at 74. charley. well, it's fair to say michael phelps had a good run in the pool and now the golden olympian is hanging up the goggles. he ended his final olympic run with a gold in the 100 meter butterfly this weekend. his career includes 22 medal 18 gold. he is look forward to the reteens that don't include weightlifting or early wakeup calls. >> that's one thing i will not miss. you know, jumping in the cold pool in the morning is the worst thing about the sport.

nation oklahomans being returned home but the fires are still burning. it's described as a monster of a firelight rain including temperatures gave fire fighters a break sunday. the wild fires burned around 91 square miles so far. more rain is in the forecast but that's not until wednesday. and the search is on for a florida man accused trying to trade a baby for food. sur villains video shows the man going door to door officers don't know who the man or the child are, but they are worried about the baby's safety. they are not sure if the child was abducted if the child belongs to the man. well, these certainly never get old. soldier from afghanistan surprises his daughter at a black belt ceremony e watched her test and at the end of the ceremony he called her name and the tears started to flow. >> you can talk on the phone or psych them but there's nothing like holding your girls in your hands. feels good. >> just got in today. >> his dad works with the army,

things going through the next several days. that's what we are continuing to watch. but for today, we are watching the temperatures this morning. that are on the uncomfortable side. humidity in there once again. wind light right now. and they will be out of the northwest as that cold front makes its way through. 74 in glen oak. this is your forecast going through the afternoon. lun. time forecast coming in around 87 degrees. brooklyn park dundalk around 87. and chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms in the forecast once again for today. as we slide in further to the south we are looing at lake shore right around 88 and 88 heading into shadyside. take the rain gear in case because we could see spotty shower pop up as we go through time. here's a check of the 7-day forecast as we start you out for today, again, 87 degrees. we should be right around 86 for this time of the year. we are seasonable but yet we won't feel like that because it's humid outside. as we head into tuesday, things should dry out. we will be a little less humid but also we are going to be

in illinois. piece of debris fell into a courtyard and water started to pour into the building. >> i heard a big noise and saw a roof falling past my window. i live in the back part where it fell. i heard this big noise and then the water started coming in. i am going with my daughter. >> those who can orr staying with relatives -- are staying with relatives and others are staying in unused units in the complex. and this is what it looked hike in pittsburgh a truck stuck in high waters came in too quickly for the driver to get out in time. slow moving storms caused more than an inch of rain to fall in a short time period. crews spent hours clearing off the mud from the roads and several businesses. they were damaged as a result. and lynette joins because check of the forecast. we didn't deal with any of that. but we had heavy storms. >> we had heavy storms and if you got trapped under one of the storms you knew what it felt like. we had lightning with thunderstorms and actually still lightning on maryland's most powerful radar right now. let's show the you what's going on as you head up to new jersey, you can see some of the

lightning strikes that cold front still back across the area. we will wait for that to pass and things will improve as we go through your evening time frame. but right now, we still are looking at few showers right around the bay area trying to cross across the -- head into the east here and as it does that, that's when we will see a few more showers in the forecast as we go throughout the day. i am not going to rule that out. but as we look at what's going on in terms of temperatures this morning, we look at 71 in millersville and only at 74. and 76 degrees right now in edgewater and the winds in the southwest will turn to the northwest and that's indicative of that cold front slide truing as we go through after the noontime frame. your forecast trend looks like. this 87 for today. temperatures start to level off a bit and go back down by saturday. that temperature at 86 degrees. that's when we -- where we should be for this time of the year. let's check with lauren cook. good morning. >> reporter: good morning.

heading out to the harrisburg expressway, we debris along the northbound lanes at beltway. that could get in are way. no delays traveling southbound. and as we head on over to howard county, this is what interstate 70 looks like. here at columbia pike no delays. it will be a easy ride to 695. and here's a live look at the southwest corner of the beltway at wilkins avenue. you are looking at an 11-minute ride on that outer loop from 795 down towards 95. and the beltway will remain clear on the outer loop from 95 up towards 8 3. that stretch will take you 11 minutes and there are concerns out on 95 traveling southbound from the beltway allot -- all the way downtown, a 15-minute ride. that's your abc2 timesaver traffic. a mile long stretch of owings mills boulevard opening today. it goes from lions mill road to wieans road. construction began two years ago connecting owings mills with the liberty road business corridor. that road is expected to relieve traffic cong
