police and chase. sirens could be heard around rosalynn avenue. a gray honda was there. it brought arthur paul out of his house eye guess he jumped on the ground. next thing you know police came down the street. the helicopter came. the next thing, he tried it get away. >> reporter: the suspect, 25-year-old tavon williams was trying to get away from a warrant for his arrest. he was in court for one case when police noticed there was a failure to appear warrant for another. >> the suspect was apprehended, place n. handcuff -- placed in handcuffs. williams ran out the front door and across the parking lot with officers on their heels.

police say then he tried to get away. the suspect jumped into a vehicle, backed up and tried to run the officer over. the officer fired three rounds, striking the suspect in the right arm. williams led police through rosalynn avenue where he gave himself up just down from arthur paul's house. >> it's real quiet. we never have noise around here. we never have no trouble around this neighborhood. >> reporter: williams is in the hospital being for his wounds. police say charges are pending. roosevelt leftwich, abc2 news. >> between 50 and 60 people needed to be checked out and one man was sent to the hospital after a carbon monoxide like in the loading area. kind of a scare. >> absolutely. didn't know what we h fire officials said it started around 5:30 this morning. an employee was hurt.

the crew was sent to the post avs in the 900 block of fayette. when the paramedics arrived, they found a map who had fallen but they also smelled something. >> operating at the scene they did observe unusual odors. >> reporter: fire officials said the task force determined there were slightly elevated levels of carbon monoxide in the air. the man who had fallen was taken to shock trauma. his blood shows higher than normal levels of carbon monoxide. lot incident is still under investigation, officials believe that some generators near the entrance was probably responsible. jamie costello, abc2 news. >> things didn't stop. things got busier. about an hour after they got a call about the carbon monoxide incident, another report came in for a gas look.

fire officials said around 9:30 at the montebello filtration plant authorities said two employees at the plant were burned by chlorine gas. they believe it happened while a valve that was being repaired sprung a week. the department of public works said the gas did not like out and was never a danger to anyone outside. both of the men were taken to the hospital for treatment. >> our continuing coverage of the sikh temple shooting in wisconsin. we have the latest on the investigation tonight. >> reporter: abc2 news has learned that the gunman, 48-year-old wade michael page served six years in the army. >> there was a lot of information to decipher, to put it together before we can tell you what the motive is. >> reporter: officials are treating it as a case of

domestic terrorism. page might have had ties to white supremacists. authorities are looking for this man who acted suspiciously. they are calling him a person of interest. >> he left the scene before anyone could ascertain what he was doing there. >> reporter: witnesses said they were getting ready for a sikh worship service when the shooter approached. he opened fire, killing two before entering the temple. when the gunfire ended, several lay injured. the temple president was among the dead. >> the blood battles, so that when he dragged himself away -- >> reporter: among the wounded loot brian murphy. today visiting a sikh center in new york, mayor michael bloomberg brought up the recent movie theater shooting in colorado and said the access to

guns is too easy. >> every day 34 americans are murdered with guns. the fact that terrorists, criminals and others have access to guns is a national crisis. >> reporter: investigators believe page used one gun, a 9-millimeter semiautomatic handgun that was purchased at a local gunshop. the associated press is reporting that trayvon martin's mother has applied for victim compensation benefits in connection with her son's death. if her application is granted, is a brin na fulton would get the money from a florida state fund. george zimmerman is charged with martin's death and has pleaded not guilty to a second-degree murder charge and maintains he shot the teenager in self-defense. closer to home, as state lawmakers prepare for a special

session to add a sixth slot, the state's first casino wants to cut back on some of its games. jeff hager joins us with the proposed reductions. >> reporter: for almost two years, slot parlors hit the jack poment now the general manager is calling on the lottery commission to let them cut as many as 500 of the 1500 machines. the perryville facility knew this would eventually compete with those in anne arundel county and baltimore. revenues have dropped as much as 40%. he said the move is not a foreboding sign of things to come. >> this is not a death penalty. this is just us doing the physically responsible thing to make our property the right size so we can maintains our level. >> reporter: he said returning some of the machines to the state would save taxpayers money

since it would have to purchase some for other casinos when they open. he said it has nothing to do with expanding table games. there's in way to gauge any impact it may have. jeff hager, abc2 news. >> right now hollywood casino has 1500 machines, and given those 500 back would knock it down to 1,000. here's what the rest of maryland's current and potential casinos would va the one at oceans down as 80. maryland live! has 3200 slot machines but will have 4700 by october. and the one in allegany county has been approved. har rods would have more than 3700 slots once completed. so whether you are for or against them, maryland casinos have already generate lad lot of

it's hot and humid there. a couple of showers and storms down in lower, the lower eastern shore of virginia. those are clearing out. ocean city has been cloudy. other than that maryland's most powerful radar not showing much. 75 in oakland. 86 in dover. winds are generally shifting northwest. that will bring in some slightly drier air tonight. we're seeing the dry air knocking on the door from york to hagerstown, fairly humid. so i think it's going to be generally muggy. where it is muggy, heat plus humidity is up. it feels like the upper 90s. 92 in pape -- in annapolis. frontal boundary has pushed through to our south. storms are focusing on that slow

moving boundary. however, i will say this, it looks like we will be close enough to the boundary for still continued cloud cover to blow. we're seeing that, cloud cover coming in out of the south and west but the main focus has been staying to our south. a lot of active weather around georgia and carolina. dry air trying to get in here, knocking on the door but the humid air is pleasant, just fairly but reaching up into baltimore. the most northern spot is giving it high humidity. now a lock at the setup as we go into the next 24 to 48 hours. now as we go into the day, the front will lock up and stay stalled to our south. we stay dry, relatively sunny. however, into wednesday that front will begin to mix out and shift further north. we could see pop-up showers pass we go into wednesday. wednesday a better chance for

pop-up showers especially in the late day heating. then we've got to talk about ernesto, tropical storm becoming a hurricane as we go into the next 24 hours. so it's a stormy time in the care bone sea south of cuba as ernesto pushes further and further east, but no threat to the u.s. mainland. overnight 72, generally quiet, i think a decent looking tuesday, 88, sun mixed with clouds, warm with a light breeze. tomorrow night down to 70, variably cloudy. let's look ahead. you can see that really we're talking about more of the same for the most part a drier tuesday and then a slight chance for showers and storms on wednesday. now as we move toward friday that looks like the best chance for significant storms all week. we think we could get a system threw that last day of the week
