start could -- to congest a little bit. that is a look at your abc 2 time saver traffic. >> we've been getting new details this morning about a shooting that happened at the family research council head quart enters washington, d.c. not far from the verizon center. the gunman is said to have muttered words about the organization's anti-gay policies before shooting the guard. charlie has more details. we are learning more about this alleged gunman. >> reporter: we have now got his name, it is 28-year-old floyd lee corkins. he is being held on charges of assault with a deadly weapon. the fbi has come in hooking at whether or not this is a hate crime, maybe domestic terrorism or something else altogether. corkins went into the lobby of the family research council. he made negative remarks before firing. we have learned he volunteered with the lgbt center and those

delays from towson down to east fayette street. that stretch altogether will take you 11 minutes and traffic is starting to congest on the west side of the beltway as we check in and take a live look here at old court road. not too bad but that outer loop will even slow down more down towards liberty road. that is a look at your abc 2 time saver traffic. back over to you. >> the judges are expected to announce today whether a stay will remain in effect for a new law on pit bulls. >> the bill died during a special session that challenges the court of appeals ruling that all pit bulls should be considered inherently dangerous. that law makes owners and landlords liable if the pit bull attacks. if the the stay is removed, local animal seters are concerned that he will see a ton of pit bulls and pit bull mixes at smelters because people say they rent homes and can't keep their dogs anymore. -- local animal shelters are

concerned. >> a local boy is attacked by a pit bull and then afterwards the dog chargeed a howard county deputy. >> we have more on the attack. >> >> reporter: the community is pretty shaken by this whole thing. a child attack bid a pit bull. this all happened last night in the 1400 block of st. michael's court in edgewood. the pit bull bit the 11-year- old boy in the face and arm. neighbors say the dog known as smoke and its pregnant mate are both bluenose pit bulls. they got out of their fence-ed in yard roaming the community just hours before the male was shot five time by a sheriff's deputy after the dog charged at the officer. neighbors say the the owner of the dog moved out of the house but the dogs were still left alone in the backyard. >> i thought i could show that i'm not going to hurt them. what happened was the dog bit me when i was going to reach down and pet the dog. >> i'm in the surprised at all.

romney and congressman ryan. that is expected to come out next week. a second hospital in our state has the stamp of approval to begin performing facial transplants. facial transplants are considered to be one of the most complicated types of surgery. they've only been done six times. in march, the university of maryland medical center announced its surgeons had completed the country's second complete facial transplant. montgomery county family finally has a little bit of closure over the death of their 1-year-old daughter. a jury found david hang guilty of murdering his stepdaughter jessica nguyen. she was found dead in her home last year with 45 stab wounds and prosecutors say that hang was angry over the drawn-out divorce with the girl's mother. he is now scheduled to be sentenced on october 28th. prosecutors do plan on asking for life without the possibility of parole. kids from east baltimore, that community, they are going
