of heavy equipment in the middle of main street. there's flatbed trucks. they even have a heavy crane. for now at this end they're trying to get the track in place tend may take a couple days before they get things in order. >> i know the investigators were saying something about video. >> reporter: they were able to get the video out of the train. they send it all to washington. they'll take sections of track, all of these things they have interviewed the three members of the crew. as a matter of fact, the engineer was an engineer in training. they say they've talked to all the members of the crew. they will review the video and make sure the two match up and make sure he come to some conclusion has to why the train

derailed. it's been less than 48 hours but some things are starting to return to normal. >> reporter: this is what they have on main street in ellicott city. most of the shops were open. there were quite a few people out there shopping. there were plenty of people watching at this train derailment. howard county executive ken ulman have been urging to us support the businesses. >> it's important because of the loss in the community as well as how much we appreciate the small store owners and want to make sure they stay in business. >> most of the shops do close around 5:00, 6:00.

the cleanup crows should be out of the main street. if you talk to any parent or teen in ellicott city, they will tell you they know someone who spent some time on the tracks. whether it's hanging out or taking a walk, the deaths of elizabeth nass and rose mayr are raising questions about how easy it is to get on those tracks. >> clearly, the track brings those security issues, so we'll take another issue at this. >> the county executive plans to work with csx to make the area around the main street more secure and looking at extending financing from the track down to the bridge in ellicott city. for the latest information as

a lot of work for them to take care of in ellicott city as we talked about that train crash from yesterday. as the ntsb tries to figure out what caused the crash, the county is looking into ways to make sure that's secure. elizabeth nass and rose mayr died when the train jumped the traction. they were buried in tons of

let's go to a story. it's a murder scandal involving an umpire. she's accused of kelling her husband using a coffee cup. let's hear the story from t.j. winick. >> reporter: well known tennis umpire who could hold her own with some of the sport's biggest names but low wis ann goodman is facing murder charges after being arrested in new york city. the police were called to her home where they found allan goodman, her 83-year-old husband and father of her children dead. she said he had fallen down the stairs but later learned she used a dangerous weapon, a coffee cut to bludgeon him to

death. >> he received multiple sharp force injuries to the head. we located that coffee mug and several pieces at the crime scene. >> reporter: police said they had trouble tracking low wis goodman down but learned she had been in new york city for the u.s. open which began next week. >> she was back to schedule. >> reporter: tuesday morning she was arrested leaving her hotel wearing her u.s. open union for. >> reporter: she allegedly beat him with porcelain cup and stabbed him with pieces. her attorney said she will fight this case. t.j. winick, new york. students will go back to a

new addition to their school. sherrie johnson has more. >> reporter: here at leaf walk elementary school, crews are working hard to put the final touches on this new addition to the school. built in 1951, this school hasn't had any renovation, that is until now. >> we have a school with the oldest buildings in the state, a lot of issues in terms of maintaining the best possible education. we had a complete study by jacobs international hall firm. it shows our building is in poor condition. >> reporter: the firm came up with a price tag of $2.4 billion. it's phase one in this renovation process. phase two includes renovating the old building. once the entire $28 million project is complete, leaf walk

75% of teens feel encouraged to use drugs or alcohol when they see their peers doing it. the best way is for parents to get involved. get engaged in their lives. if your child wants to give up playing a musical instrument, children who get a few years of musical instruction will see the benefits. young adults have taken two years of instrumental training. previous studies have linked that type of response with improved attention, organization, short term memory and reasoning. it's important for parents to have a plan in place to keep them safe after school. if you're in the picking up your children, be sure they know who's coming to get them. write your child's full name on the outside of the backpack. if your child walks home, stress
