weather. looking at maryland's most powerful radar, we are nice and dry. we are not dealing with the wet led we had yesterday. it's -- wet weather we had yesterday. temperatures at 63 in pylesville and cool are now. rock hall at 68 and rifters town at 62. -- reisterstown at 62. less humid this morning and that's the scenario heading throughout the day. we look at your hour by hour forecast and when you wake up this morning we are under mostly clear skies, plenty of sunshine going through around 7:00, 8:00,69 degrees and by lunch times and temperatures at 79. we will be nice and comfortable. get out and enjoy it. let's check the abc2 timesaver traffic with mike masco. >> reporter: good morning. let's go to the maps. some construction delays especially on 895 as you make your way into harbor tunnel. delays until 5 this morning. be aware of that. we have been seeing speeds reduced after exit 10 into harbor tunnel toll plaza. going down toward the south 95

delays and construction related on the northbound between 212 and 198 so speeds are down some as you make your way along 95. and going up towards the north we have paving going on on york road this morning. and that's going to bring some speeds down certainly a subject to some lane closures. outside we go for a live shot and we will show you 695 at old court road. so far so good thus far this morning. another check on traffic in less than 10 minutes. and there's a shot of 695. get your commute on now. >> yeah. it's a good time to leave because there's no traffic. thanks. today is feeling a bit like deja vu in new orleans, the 7th year anniversary of hurricane katrina. and while hur cake isaac is not nearly as severe it's cause be problems this morning. -- causing problems this morning. >> the storm made landfall after 8 eastern last night. coming ashore as a category one storm packs winds of 80 miles

an hour and torrential rains and 20 inches could fall this is a live look at the downtown french quarter area around bourbon street. you see the rains falling. this is going to be case for hours to come. it's going to test the reenforced levees that were shored up in 2005. city officialser rex -- officials are expecting peak storm surges and right now about 200,000 remain in the dark. new orleans mayor says there are about a thousand national guard troops and more than 2900 law enforcement officers in the city dealing with storm related issues. >> isaac is with us in a very significant way. we now have hurricane-force winds and that are coming onto the shores of louisiana. we expect that very soon. those winds will be sustained at at least 75 miles per hour and it's expected they will

grow stronger. >> louisiana governor is criticizing white house saying the administration is not doing enough to help with federal funding to cover isaac's cost. in a letter to the president he wrote that ice he can demands full federal assistance to the state, something the governor says the white house is not doing. >> thanks so much. lynette charles joins us and i think so many people see a storm and wonder could this be headed our way. >> it's headed our way possibly the remnants. but it will take a while. the good news is we were thinking it would be for the weekend which is labor day and it could hold off and for maybe monday, tuesday and we need that rain. so that's some good news. we won't be dealing with the deluge that you are seeing now across southeastern louisiana. and we look at tropical satellite here, and it's basically telling you a story. as we look on the western side of this big storm, you are not seeing a whole lot of the oranges and the deep reds. that's because that is drier air moving in to the system and

that's basically what's pleaing the system for the -- plaguing the system for the wild that's getting its act together. that's why it hasn't been as strong as it could have been because of the dry air but we are dealing with lots of rain. that's the main concern as this system slowly makes landfall. it's basically stationary and it's slowed up and the reason why well we have an area of high pressure up to the north around the midwest. that's basically blocking it. and also we have nothing to really steer it. we don't have the jet stream with the dip in it. a trough to move it along. it's stalled out and you can see the oranges there those reds and those are some heavy rain bands and this is going to be doing this for the next several days here. so, lots of torrential rain coming in across the area. we will talk more about isaac coming up and get a look at our weather. let's check the traffic with mike masco or we will send it back to the dabbing. >> -- desk. >> we want to remind you our weather team has been blogging about isaac when it started forming in the atlantic.

check out what they have to say and the impact on our weather. that's on the weather section of our website abc2news.com. the 15-year-old undergoing a psychiatric evaluation after being charged in the shooting. robert gladden will be charged as an adult. he brought a disassembled gun to school monday. around lunchtime, police say he went into the bathroom and put that gun together and went into the cafeteria. they say he shot -- he fired off one shot hitting a 17-year- old student daniel borowy in the back. a guidance counselor tackled gladden before he could get off nor shot. borowy praised all who who helped their son. the family liens on the community to remember their daughter murdered this month. remains of 20-year-old jessica lee were found in anne arundel county. she left her home in brooklyn park webs back-- wednesday back in may and never came back home. people gathered at st. john's

church last night to remember her saying that they want to find who do this to her. >> it -- [audio not understandable] hopefully with our faith we will get through it. >> she left behind a 16-month- old daughter named megan. police say it is investigated as a homicide. new this morning, someone made off with $130,000 worth of landscaping equipment in frederick county. police are trying to find thoseresponsible. trucks and various landscaping equipment are missing from the landscaping nursery in ijamsville on monday. so far, no suspects. we will keep you updated. and new this morning, police are on the hunt for three men who robbed a 7-eleven at gunpoint. these are photos of the three. harford county sheriff deputies say they pointed gun at clerk and ran -- at the clerk and ran off with the cash.

traveling across the westbound span of the bay bridge should be easier. both sides look like parking lots -- looked like parking lots after inspectors closed the side yesterday morning. workers reported seeing unusual movement on the bridge prompting the closure. around noon, it reopened. that bridge is considered safe but if built today it wouldn't meet current standards and talks of replacing it has been put on hold. >> there's a huge financial implication with the construction of a third bay bridge and clearly a question of where would that bridge in fact be located. i am sure you are familiar with the term nimby, not in my backyard. >> it would take billions to replace the bridge and take decades to build another. he is credited with turning canton into a hot spot and today those who knew him will say their final good-byes. friends and family stopped by towson last night paying

respects e died last friday -- he died last fright in a -- friday in a bike accident. he included a number of restaurants. he was seen at the grand prix this weekend. all the bars and restaurants in canton square are donating parts of the sales to his believe in tomorrow foundation. he is dead at 49 years old. >> a great guy and gave so much to the community. stay with us this morning, just ahead, the hallway of an indiana courthouse became a boxing ring. >> what caused this brawl and had police hauling a number of people away. look at that. >> streets of downtown baltimore will be bustling this labor day weekend, but it might be a different story if you are trying to get around. deon what you need to know -- details on what you need to know if you are driving anywhere downtown. you are waking up to what's new. ñ[=

sentenced tomorrow. the formerrer lacrosse player was convict in the murder -- former lacrosse player was convicted in the murder of his girlfriend. paraolympic games kick off today in london. the opening ceremony involves 100 children from 3,000 adult volunteers and a high wire act. nearly 4300 disabled athletes from 166 countries will compete in the games. and election day is a few months away. and today congressman cummings is holding a news conference about efforts to confront possible voters. a study on bullying in the workplace and legislation has been introduced in 21 states including maryland to create healthy workplace enviroments. it would protect employees who report workplace bullying and hold employers accountable. >> the inner harbor is about to get spicier. mccormick and company is

opening a retail space in harbor place. the store is going to feature section on cooking, baking and grilling. they are going to be having an interactive display so you can guess that spice. >> it's going smell good. >> it will be great. >> lynette and mike joining us with weather and traffic. you know a. lot going on on the roads. you said get the commute on. >> the road are looking good but the lane closures we will be dealing with going into the midnight hour along pratt street. more about that coming up. >> weather? >> let's get to it. >> all right. our weather looks very good this morning. but of course we have isaac down there brewing along the gulf coast. we will talk about that in a second. but, you're stepping out the door this morning and you will be stepping out to mainly clear skies. so what you see right now in the satellite and radar is not a lot. and that's because that front has moved through the area. and we are feeling pretty good this morning. look at york's temperature on the cooler side. you might need that jock and sweater as you head -- jacket and sweater as you head out and about. 69 in baltimore. 71 now in dc and 64 degrees in

culpepper. and we are going to be dealing with plenty of sunshine as we go throughout the day. now the tropical tracker is looking at isaac still a category one hurricane. the winds sustained at about 80 miles an hour. and look, moving to the north it's not moving. it's stationary at this time. but i want to show outcentral pressure. 968 millibars. it's coming up. so that means this is not strengthening and it should stay as a category one and weaken once it makes landfall. but we will see what that happens. we are looking at your hurricane model prointersections -- projections. i get the question what's going to happen with isaac? it's moving inland and it will make the turn and heads towards the east by the time it gets to us. we will see some rainfall with this. it won't bt tremendous amounts of rein across the gulf coast states, but 84 is what i am going with today.

mostly sunny and nice and comfortable. by tonight, clear skies and cool. grab the jacket once again and here's the forecast for tomorrow. 87 degrees. let's check the abc2 timesaver traffic with mike masco. >> reporter: let's that you can about the road closures. going into midnight that's along pratt street for the grand prefor the next several days. here's map all about pratt street being closed and streets south of pratt street going through the western sections of the harbor will be shut down. that's penn street to calvert and conway street and towards the mlk boulevard. be aware of that. we will talk about traffic and let's go to some of the cameras and show you really easy commute thus far. there's the shot of 695 showing us a pretty good looking ride. 695 at harford road changing the vantage point we will show you smooth sailing. guys onto you. quarter to 5 and making headlines this morning, tensions and anger boils over and it happened in a courtroom after a hearing in a murder case. the case involved the shooting that happened in indiana

outside of a bar last friday where one man was killed and two others injured. a shoving match between supporters from the victim and the accused shooter happened in the hallway of the courtroom easer spilling -- even spilling out to the courthouse lawn. police stepped in and broke up the brawl. those involved are facing charges. no one with all the commotion was seriously injured. a medical center is under cruet any after a woman threw a kidney from a living donor into the trash. the entire program is suspend because of this mishap. an expert in renal trance planned is reviewing -- transplants is reviewing the living kidney transplant program. all right. look at little addison who is 5 years old. but she is amaying. herself -- amazing. herselflessness goes beyond borders.

her dad says a missionary spoke at their church about the needs for people in haiti and she noticed looking at pictures that the children didn't have any shoes. so instead of birthday gifts she asked for donations of shoes for the children. >> i think it's wonderful that a student who is 5 years old can think beyond herself. >> addison got over 100 pairs of shoes and the postage company in her neighborhood actually paid the shipping cost to send theshoes to haiti. >> you never know when you will see. >> 5 years old. >> age doesn't matter. barely old enough to tie her shoes. >> and 5 years old think about everything they want and she wanted people to help out. >> self-less act. if you are a parent, you know how hard it can be to get your kids to eat healthy. and now that's the challenge schools are trying to tackle. >> a federal mandate went into effect to make school lunches healthier. we look at how students are responding. >> reporter: when it comes to school lunches, everyone has an opinion.

>> sometimes i eat it but sometimes the er: the changes areimplemented in schools around the nation, students are noticing. a senior at northeast magnet is one of them. >> portions are smaller. >> reporter: that's true. calorie count is down. but the biggest change says wichita food service director is what's offered. >> it does make that tray look different. >> reporter: new federal standards this year requires schools to serve more nutritious meals. that means more fruits and vegetables and touring cars -- fewer carbs. >> you have to eat more fruits and vegetables and a variety of vegetables and more low grains and low fat dairy and limit the carbs and protein. >> the whole idea to help students understand proportion and proper eating habits. that's what's good. >> reporter: but for some it will take getting used to. >> it's way different than last year. last year coy eat lunch -- i could eat lunch almost every

day and you but today i can't. >> reporter: some say they are not getting enough. students are allowed to purchase items other than the standard lunch. often it's a good option for those who need more calories like athletes. while the changes may not come easy. >> the whole goal is the clid eat healthier and -- kids will eat healthier. >> one thing that's interesting is parents here talk about the fact that they are getting fined if they don't get vegetables. >> i like the idea of being more nutritional minded. >> starting today if you have to go downtown in baltimore, get ready to exercise a lot of patience. >> coming up in a bit, where to expect the detours as the city gets ready for a big race this labor day weekend.

it's coming. the three-day events kicks offon friday. >> you can expect road closures beginning to stall downtown traffic. >> linda so is live with the latest of what to spec and people can expect a lot of delays right? >> reporter: yeah, a lot of traffic headaches. we are at pratt and charles street in downtown baltimore. they just installed these gates overnight. you can see they had to close this portion of the road as they installed the gates. also, the concrete barriers and the fencing is up a. -- up is. as we get closer to the -- is up. as we get closer to the race, the final phase of construction is beginning. gates were installed closing charles between pratt and lombard and between conway and lee streets. those roads will close again tonight for more gates to be installed. and starting on thursday, all roads along the racetrack will be closed throughout the day through labor day weekend. so only reopen at night. some business owners in the area say they are not looking
