former university of va la crosse player george huguely found out how long he willpend behind bars for killing yeardley love. a judge sentenced huguely to 23 years. huguely spoke in court addressing love's family. he told them he was sorry for their loss and hoped they would find peace. his sentence was reduced from 26 years to 23. state health officials are con firming the first -- confirming the first west nile death. there have been 13 cases of west nile across the state compared

this country. tropical storm isaac is continng to move north across louisiana. evacuations are still underway. water is pouring into the already swollen river and officials believe it could cause low lying areas to flood. this 8-year-old and the grandmother were among the hundreds rescued. >> it was really board because it was really deep. >> isaac is expected to dump rain across the middle part of the the country before finally break up over the weekend. rescuers are also working to help animals. you can see the cows are fighting through the muck. animal shelters in louisiana and mississippi are sending animals to texas to make room for ones

being evacuated. most of the images coming from tropical storm isaac are frightening but this one is cute. a father stayed behind when they evacuated. when they went into the home, this is what he found. she left hurricane rules for the stuffed animals, to scoot next to the buddies, no parties and have fun. >> i like the no party and take a buddy. >> take a look at what we're now seeing with isaac. this is no longer a tropical storm, and now a tropical depression. still flooding rain a disstent possibility. 24 inches of rain in isolated spots, unbelievable. back here in the mid-atlantic states, clerp and dry and gorgeous weather.

a shooting in philadelphia is caught on camera. you can see the victim walking down the street when an suv pulse up and shoots. the passenger gets out and starts firing more rounds. fortunately, the victim was only grazed in the shoulder. the police do not have suspects. a 100-year-old driver is behind the wheel when the car lungedveral people were hurt. several people were taken to the hospital but everyone is

expected to survive. did los angeles police use excessive force in this situation. it was caught on an outdoor security camera. it's a little grainy but you can see two officers take down a woman twice. she was handcuffed at the time. both officers involved in the incident have been pulled from the field pending the outcome. attorneys for the women involved said they plan to take some legal action. can you make it through the checkout of a hotel without paying more than just the room rate? what to do to avoid some of those little fees. and this couple doesn't have a problem mismg love and poly-- mixing love and politics.

a big surprise for the students and staff. the school is one of the 100 schools across the country to receive a $25,000 grant from target. the target bull's-eye bus came right with the big check for the school. the grant will help with technology, books and everything else it needs. the school's principal is thrilled for her students and staff. they deserve it and i am so, so grateful that i am so, so grateful that we were chosen. i mean, honestly, they deserve so, so much. >> so emotional there. target giving up to $2.5 until guest cards to local schools through votes on their facebook

robert w coleman, running track on a day like this, getting humidity, low despite the fact temperatures have warmed up a bit. i want to show you a look at the dew point numbers. you can see they are low. dry weather holding tough but humidity beginning to crop up. by tomorrow afternoon, especially on saturday, we could see more in the way of steamy conditions. right now i see dry and no rain. high sack continuing to move inland out of the southern gulf of mexico, now still producing flooding rains across mississippi, northern louisiana and rain churning into southern arkansas. parts of this section of the country in severe drought. it's not that rain would be unwelcome everywhere but flooding rains in louisiana and mississippi. we have isolated amounts. that's up to two feet in parts of louisiana. now we know why there's been so much flooding.

here's the future track of the leftovers of tropical storm isaac. with this projection toward the labor day time frame and into tuesday, we could sew some scattered showers and storms in our area. none of that tomorrow. this is friday 6:00, still dry across maryland statewide with more showers starting to scatter further north. friday into saturday more widespread rain moving north and a boundary coming out of canada likely to push this in our direction saturday night into monday. lots of hurricane season to go. two other storms churning. now watching hurricane kirk. kirk is expected to reconsider of and stay out to sea, maybe moving through the central atlantic but not a threat to land or u.
