the weekend. >> we've been tied together for a while now. >> the grand prix has already shut down many, many roads in the inner harbor, i'll have that coming up in just a few. how will the weather be? >> you can take the blame. the weather is not going to wreak havoc on anything for today. we'll see plenty of sunshine out there. you do have to enjoy it. i must warn you, if you don't like the hot weather, it is going to be pushing back in across the area today. temperatures, glen burnie 72 degrees, darlington at 55. 68 in goldsboro. those winds are calm right now, but they will pick up out of the west as we go throughout the day at five to 10 miles per hour. we can see maryland's most powerful radar is dry right now and it will stay that way throughout the day. here's the hour-by-hour forecast, 90 degrees, it's going to be a hot day on tap. let's get a check of abc time saver lauren cook. tell us about the grand prix. >>reporter: good morning, lynette. many roads in downtown baltimore are already shut down. 395 is one of them, so traffic

is actually being diverted onto mlk. now other streets that are affected include light street, conway street, pratt street, portions of that will be shut down. for a complete list of all the closures, you can go to abc2news.com and you will want to use public transportation if all possible. 895 a good alternate route. here's a look at 95 at 395 in downtown baltimore, no problems getting through that fort mchenry tunnel. the harford tunnel also nice and clear. if you you are headed to 695, here's what it looks like in parkville at harford road. nice and clear if you're traveling the inner loop down towards 95 or up towards towson. a vigil is happening tonight for the man who tried to save another life. abc 2 news cheryl connors spoke to walden's son who says his dad will always be remembered as a hero.

>>reporter: he played the harmonica. , a test of his talent to his son and grandson. sherman walden ltion left behind a way to live. >> if it was his way to go, it would be saving somebody or at least on the water. >>reporter: years ago john walden remembers his dad pulling a person out of the ocean and performing cpr. in 1997, he and a friend ran into a burning home in harford county. >> they ran into the house not even thinking and there was an older woman laying down on the floor, they pulled her up, brought her outside, gave her cpr and the paramedics said if you hadn't have been there, she would have suffocated. >>reporter: a friend jumped off their boat and started the struggle. >> trish had my dad's shirt and it was in her arms. she said just float, dusty, there's a poat coming.

trish let go my dad for a matter of moments to get donny on the boat, and he had already gone in the water. >>reporter: walden's body was recovered two days after he went under. an autopsy will determine what caused his death. his son suspects a heart attack. after all, he grew up on the water and was a good swimmer. walden died just three weeks after his wife passed away from a stroke. the family's way of coping is to keep playing his music and marching to the same beat. >> we want to celebrate his life and now that we remember for him -- and remember him for the good things that he did. >> that was cheryl reporting there. the vigil will be at wilson point road. there will be a memorial service for both walden and his wife that will be ku in the next few weeks. a former virginia la crosse player could be spending 23 years behind bars. a judge sentenced george

huguely in the murder of yeardley love. this was yesterday. the jury had recommended 26 years following his murder conviction. several witnesses spoke during the sentencing phase. coming up this morning at 5:00, you're going to hear more and what the witnesses had to say. you'll also hear what prosecutors had to say about huguely's punishment. a woman is recovering after being mauled by a pit bull. an employee with the baltimore fire department was working on the 1500 block of east pratt street when he noticed a woman in what appeared to be having a seizure. when he got closer, he realized she was being attacked by a dog. that man flagged down a police officer who shot and killed the animal. the condition of that woman is not known this morning. some odd behavior leads to an arrest of a man outside of a school in harford county. police say jason burrell was in the parking lot of edgewood wearing only boxer shorts. police said he approached children and staff and at one point threw money up in the air. he was taken to chesapeake

hospital for evaluation. police raided several massage parlors last week, charging two women for unlicensed massage and prostitution. vic tore i can't's spa shared a space with the children's learning center and 30 male clients could be seen at any point going in and out on any business day. >> this is back in april of last year when they came in and we all knew immediately that there was an issue. >> these cases we garner as much evidence as possible to get to the state's attorney's office, not only to make arrests but also successful prosecutions as well. >> this comes after months of complaints from businesses like the learning center. democracy 2012 this morning, mitt romney is waking up as an official republican candidate for president. the rnc wrapped up last night with a speech from romney that touched on everything from his life to healthcare to jobs.

the speech also contained repeated criticism of president barack obama and his failure to jump start the economy. >> what is needed in our country today is not complicated or profound, doesn't take a special government commission to tell us what american needs. what america needs is jobs, lots of jobs. [ cheers and applause ] >> next up the democratic national convention beginning on monday in charlotte. those lined up to speak include first lady michelle obama, former president bill clinton and julian castro, the mayor of san antonio, texas and also the keynote speaker. isaac appears to be losing some steam. the storm has been downgraded now to a tropical depression as it makes its way across louisiana and mississippi. the heavy rain has brought more flooding in areas north and south of new orleans. the forthified levee system appears to have done its job protecting the city itself. it's going to move inland before breaking up. that's expected over the

weekend. lynette is here right now with a check of the forecast. lynette, we can upgrade that right now. the storm has moved over arkansas and that's where it's sitting this morning. >> that's exactly right. you can see it right there as it pushes off to the north/northwest right now. next we see it moving into missouri and it will start to make a turn and it could be coming to our area beginning of next week. it could impact labor day a bit. but for today we're seeing a few showers and thunderstorms around louisiana, but for the most part louisiana thank goodness is being able to dry out this morning. now, we look closer to home and we are dealing with mainly clear skies right now. that's going to translate into lots of sunshine as we go through the morning and through the afternoon and temperatures will respond. good morning kent island, temperature right now at 75 degrees and chesapeake beach coming in at 73. 65 degrees in the northeast. sending it over to charley. >> lynette, thanks a lot. the maryland state fair continues today and tonight is the headlining act of vic tore i can't johnston. she's the star of the nick

. drivers start your engines. the streets of baltimore have now turned into a raceway. it could mean a headache for you if you're trying to go downtown today. but for race fans rs, it's going to be an action-packed weekend. linda stow is downtown this morning. and, linda, the schedule starts today as far as racing is concerned. >>reporter: yeah. practice starts at 8:00 this morning, so you're going to see a lot of things going on on this track. they are putting the finishes touches right now. and to tell us more about it this morning jade gerst with grand prix. thanks for joining us. >> thank you. >> this is exciting. a lot of changes this year. can you tell us about that? >> yeah. we had a lot of changes, a couple of them on the track designed to make the racing faster and better. that's going to be great for the spectators here at the track as well as people around the world that are going to watch this on television, but we've made a lot of other changes for the spectators. we've increased the pedestrian access, we've installed a

series of ada-compliant gates. so every hour or so people will be able to cross the street or cross the track, get from one area to the other. we have some new areas, we have the family fun zone which is a goofy name but really an awesome deal, a lot of rides and activities that are free to all the folks that come in with a ticket. so young to old, there's going to be a lot to see and do all weekend. >>reporter: this is the second year that baltimore is hosting this. for people who didn't come down last year and they're interested, what can they expect? >> well, there's so much to do and to see. you mentioned we start practice at 8:00 a.m. today. i think we'll go until about 5:30 or sexual intercourse with on-tram -- to 6:00 with on- track racing. again, they can come out, they can go through all kinds of interactive displays and activities. we really encourage people the best way to experience a street race is to wear your comfortable shoes and get to as many areas of the facility as

area. you also want to wear ear protection. it can get pretty loud. do we need to wear shorts? >> oh, yeah. oh, yeah, wear the shorts, have a good time. don't forget the sunscreen, it's going to be a good time. tomorrow we're still dealing with hot temperatures. by sunday things could go downhill a little bit, maybe in the evening and as we head into labor day itself. we're definitely going to keepped on that. right now let's talk about what's going on this morning because as you step out the door, you can leave the rain gear at home once again. you like that trend where you don't have to pick up that cumbersome umbrella as you head out the door. we are going to be needing the sun shade and sunscreen as we go throughout the day because the temperatures are going to heat up. the satellite and radar not picking up on a whole lot right now. mainly clear skies prevailing for today. as we talk about tretion isaac right now -- tropical depression isaac right now, still dumping rain across portions of -- you can actually see another line of showers and thunderstorms moving into louisiana right now, but the bulk of rain is pushing into arkansas, making its way into

missouri. that will be the trend throughout the day and then we'll start to see a different trend as we head towards the end of the weekend. we can see isaac now, the remnants will be moving in our direction as we head into monday, tuesday and maybe even early wednesday. we'll definitely have to keep our eyes peeled on that. we do need the rain. as we look at the future trend, still more of the same. as we go throughout the day, we will see plenty of sunshine in the forecast. make sure you enjoy it. 94, that's what i'm going with today. that's about 10 degrees above average. it's going to be a hot day on tap. by tonight 70 degrees, mostly clear, temperatures above normal. tomorrow we're looking at 90 degrees with a sun/cloud mix. police in massachusetts are investigating an unusual case, a woman says she found a bullet inside a jar of peanut butter. that woman bought the jar of teddy peanut butter two weeks ago with the seal still intact. it's made locally in that state. when she broke it open, she found the bullet inside. no one's been able to tell police or her where that 45-

caliber bullet came from. imagine driving home from work and seeing a snake peeking out from your dashboard vent. a snake. that's what happened to a man in tennessee. jim tipton was heading home from work when the snake popped out. he took a picture of it. he pulled over and called for help. while he waited, tipton turned on the heat and air conditions, anything he could do to get that snake out of his car. >> no. not an option. i was getting the snake out or getting the car towed, one or the other. but as long as it was somewhere known in the car, i was not planning to drive. >> scared him so bad he lost all his hair. it took a mechanic hours to get the dashboard off and find the baby snake. sadly, though, the animal did not survive the adventure, but tipton says he was happy to get home. with the tough job market out there, many people are going to extremes to find work. a man in toledo, ohio has found a creative way to help his wife find a job. she lost her job at a local college about a year ago, so her husband decided to send out resumes.

today. the ticket was drawn earlier this month. it is the third largest powerball jackpot in the game's history. and 15 years ago today, a car crash in paris claimed the life of princess diana. they were try to go outrun paparazzi who were chasing their car. princess di's boyfriend, dodi fiyad was also killed in the crash. her bodyguard survived. a service today for neil armstrong. he passed away last week from complications of heart surgery. armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon. today while we're remembering neil armstrong, a rare blue moon will be happening tonight. usually there's just one, but every 2.7 years we're going to get two. seems fitting when you think about it. the next blue moon is going to occur in 2015. a common misconception is that the color of the moon will actually be blue. experts say that's not the case at all. well, a holiday weekend is

yourself, do so in moderatation. >> people think if you go through the weekend you can eat whatever you want. that's a no-no. that's really not going to help you meet your plans. >> also, don't think just because you throughout the course of the -- exercise throughout the course of the week will give you a pass to eat whatever you want. prices at the pump shouldn't have a huge impact on travelers hitting the road this weekend. we're paying a dime more for gas because of refinery closures tied to isaac. because of that, aaa expects 50,000 marylanders to be traveling this weekend. >> it seems marylanders are resilient when it comes to traveling. they want to get away, especially for many, this is the last trip for the summer. >> aaa says on average the price of a dplal of regular gas is around $3.79 in maryland. those are the most recent numbers. d the bay bridge will certainly be busy for the labor day weekend, but hopefully traffic won't look like it did tuesday morning. inspectors shut down the westbound span for hours after workers reported seeing unusual
