he hoisted the lombardi trophy as owner in 2001 and his influence was bigger than just football. he and his wife pat donated millions of dollars to charities in the city including the johns hopkins hospital and krieger institute. >> he impacked the entire -- impacted the entire nfl. >> he is one of the most awesome men i met in my -- met in my life. and i know the guy had a plan and for me to meet a manlike that with all the impact he had on this world. so, it's hard losing someone that powerful with that much influence. >> reporter: he died of natural causes with his family by his side. we are told that lombardi trophy will be beside his casket. once again, that will be on saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. right here in m and t bank stadium. reporting live, sherrie johnson, abc2 news. today the perry hall community will gather to raise money for the team shot on the

first -- teen shot on the first day of high school. he is still recovering and tonight a benefit will be at the gun powder lodge raising money to help his family. aid $25 all inclusive happy hour that runs from 4 to 8 tonight. news around the nation the couple is expected to be charged this morning for making a fake phone call and causing a plane to make an emergency landing. this is unbelievable because they were pranking a man named chris shell out see him there. the call -- you see him there. the call said he was carrying liquid explosives. they turned the flight around citing mechanical problems and shell posted he was des appointed in u.s. air -- disappointed in u.s. airlines and minutes later he discovered he was the reason why the plane was turned around. he was pulled off at gunpoint. his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend are accused of making the phone call. shell is not totally innocent. we should tell you there was an outstanding warrant for his

arrest in one city in texas. no word this morning on charges he is going to face with that. a sheriff deputy put his life on the lined is hailed a hero. right now it's time to go back to school. >> absolutely. and that means for some moms it's that time of year when you get a spring in your step. >> bye. bye. go to school. yep. mommy need her time. look at this phoenix direct path of a 2500 foot wall of dust. the dust storm known as uh-huh be boob rolled in just -- haboob rolled in just as rush hour got start prompting warnings for drivers to pull over because of poor visibility. we don't see anything like that here in maryland but it's cool to show people. >> it's cool to see. and as we look at the big picture we can see showers and storms still around arizona. so they could be seeing more haboobs to come in the forecast. but for today, we are looking pretty good. lots of sunshine out there.

annapolis many volunteers will work to clean up the park and that's a way to honor victims of september 11th. and washington national cathedral will mark the 11th anniversary of the september 11th attacks at the prayers at regularly scheduled services. in the past years they hosted a larger commemoration that included presidents and other leaders. michael phelps is going to be honored as the olympian with the most medals in history and this is happening on monday. three olympic oappearance -- appearances he received 22 medaled and 18 gold and he and the other athletes in london will be at the inner harbor amphitheater at 4. major networks are coming together for a hour long special called stand up to cancer. dozens of celebrities raising money for cancer research and awareness. it raised more than 1 # 0 mill -- 108 million for the cause -- 180 million for the cause as soon as it first started. today is orange friday and baltimore city mayor urging people and businesses to show

their support by bathing the city in orange. so next week, they are going to plan to light the washington monument orange and that will be something to see. time for a check on your weather with lynette. >> all right. let's talk about what's going on right now in terms of temperatures as you head out the door. we are in the upper 60s at hanover. we should be at 61 now for this time of the year. so those temperatures are falling. 68 in chesapeake beach and kent island 73. that's the warmest spot right now. 64 in federalsburg and chestertown coming in around 66. hickory 67. so this is a setup for today. we have high pressure that's pretty much in control of the weather. this will begin to slide off toward the east. and once it does that we will start to get a return throw or southerly flow that's going to heat the temperatures up and we are watching the strong cold front that's going to pass through the area on saturday bringing us lots of rain and also the storm prediction center has us in a slight risk for severe weather. hurricane leslie not doing so much out there. it is forecasted to pass off towards the east of bermuda

an 8-year-old we could learn something from. >> absolutely. his name is wyatt and he entered a scavenger hunt where the winner gets a thousand dollars. pretty nice. >> but instead of keeping the money and using it for a bike or video games, this young man gave it away to his 2-year-old neighbor kara to pay for chemotherapy -- chemotherapy treatments. >> i heard she had leukemia and i thought that they really needed this money, and i didn't really need the money, so i wanted to give it to them. >> the doctors say the 2-year- old has a good chance of recovering. the cancer has a cure rate of about 90% so she should be okay but what a story that family is going to hold with them forever. >> amazing young man. >> yeah. >> stay with us this morning. a traffic stop for one state trooper became anything but normal. >> what is being done to help other officers from suffering the same fate this officer did. also mosquitoes we see them all the time especially during
