now abc2news at 6:30. good evening. i'm kelly swoope. people are cleaning up after a pair of tornadoes tore through new york city. they were part of a series of powerful storms. here is the latest. >> dark clouds descend over the new york skyline saturday as two tornadoes hit the big apple. >> look at the tornado. >> 75-mile-an-hour winds. [no audio] >> just 15 seconds of intense

wind noise, things crashing around me. >> the same storm cell is thought to have spun this second twister in brooklyn. >> it was a superwind which is the only way i can describe it. it felt like it was sucking you up. >> there was severe weather. it was hit by flash flooding and cars submerged as they struggled in the rising waters. >> in new jersey, 75-mile-an- hour wins sent a tree branch in the living room. >> there were over 286 reports of weu7bdz damage from south carolina to new hampshire including a stage collapse where two people were under the wreckage. power has been restored to most of the 200,000 homes that lost it up and down the east coast.

>> we had a lot of wind damage across baltimore and toward the south, annapolis and arundel county. still power issues tonight, but here is the shot downtown, a gorgeous shot. 78 in town. 78 ocean city. look at oakland, a struggle to get out of the 60s. we hit 63 degrees. it is all about the dewpoints running into the 50s. that will be the trend. dry air over the next five to six days. >> 71 for your temperature. falling back into the 60s and monday at 59 degrees starting out. >> we have one weather story to talk about, leslie, a huge storm. we'll talk about that seven-day forecast that you're going to love, in just a little bit. >> what a side weekend. baltimore came out to pay respects. several thousand people filed passed the casket of art modell

owner. he is credit with naming the ravens 17 years ago with starting monday night football and with raising money to start charities. his two sons greeted every person that walked passed the casket. his longtime assistant sam miller was with them and so was offensive tackle who remembers the personal side. >> how you doing man? how is your mother? how is your brother? he knew everybody's name. i could do that or the guy in the practice squad could do that. >> there was an estimated 3,000 people who paid their respects to someone who felt like family. >> i can't imagine what my life would have been like or my families, all the memories we had watching the games. i wanted to thank him one last time for being such a great person. >> the me del family wants to thank you. the memories of their father run much deeper than football.

>> if anyone in the world wonders why this is the best football city in the world, all they had to do was be here today. >> there will be a number of tributes throughout the season. there will be a moment of silence before the home opener on monday night. cheryl connor, abc2news. >> he will be laid to rest tuesday following a private service. aberdeen police officer is dead after a bizarre accident. the canine officer fell some 47 feet to his death off an elevated exit ramp early saturday morning. he was on a party bus returning from a trip and pulled over for an unknown reason. it appears to be a tragic accident but they will try to determine why the bus pulled over and why he got out. a bicyclist was struck and killed. the 27-year-old jason leonard

was sitting in the middle of the road after falling off his bike. now according to police he was then hit by an car. they are still investigating this incident. and a man is killed and ten others hurt. the 27-year-old anderson died when his van crossed the center line west of queen highway and hit an m t a bus head on the car traveled backwards more than 40 feet before it caught fire. firefighters had to use the "jaws of life" to pull the people out of the car and anderson later died at the hospital. the 14-year-old passenger is in the hospital in stable condition tonight. the bus driver and 8 passengers were not seriously hurt. president barack obama is hoping to sway older voters and

if you were stuck in this traffic this weekend, you had a whole lot of company. traffic and parking an absolute nightmare. the county had the day 2 canceled because of the problems. mutters are obstacle courses held in the mud all over the world. more than half a million people participated but this one is being called an absolute disaster. it is all over social media. they said there was flooding, traffic and parking issues and inconsistent support from

authorities for the cancellation. the traffic volume, lack of adequate parking and the weather that impacted the course yesterday played a role in can selling for today. >> they were not able to participate and will be e- mailed information about refunds and possibly transfers. well in 58 days america will head to the polls to elect a president. the race is expected to hinge on independent voters and relatively few swing states. one is florida where president barack obama was campaigning today. health care is a hot topic there. mitt romney. >> reporter: on this first weekend of the fall campaign president barack obama rose through the state of florida where medicare matters to retirees. >> our plans strengthens medicare. >> no american should have to

76 in town. a pair of 7s out to frederick. 71 there. most numbers north and west of the city points will be dealing with temperatures into the maybe upper 40 mark for tonight. you notice the northerly wind coming in. look at the dewpoints into the 50s. we have talked about dewpoints into the 70s for much of the last couple of weeks but that will change for this upcoming workweek. 71 at 8:00. we'll start off your monday morning on the cool side, but mostly sunny at 59. into the 70s tomorrow afternoon. we will be below average for a change. a few showers well up toward the north. that is our pittsburgh radar network. we won't deal with any precipitation but maybe a few clouds during the course of tonight. there is one piece of energy that has to get out offer here, but by tomorrow afternoon, the high pressure will build in and ing the much cooler air mass that will be in place. it is all about this high

pressure system that is out over michigan. this comes in as we head into tomorrow afternoon. it will stay with us through friday afternoon. mostly sunny skies, a fall feel for temperatures in the 70s. 70 in chicago right now. that's true heat, denver near 90. that stays out toward the west. so this cold front will deflect offshore. lessly is not going to be a problem. michael is out towards the central atlantic. both will stay offshore and well out toward an maritimes. >> upper 40s for hagers town. then temperatures tomorrow afternoon with full on sunshine into the 70s. tomorrow night 50s and 40s north and west of 70. it is going to feel like fall for much of this week.
