degrees. let's check the abc2 saver traffic with lauren cook. >> reporter: good morning. if you are heading into the city, there's no concerns on the jfx. it's nice and clear from towson downtown to east fayette street. everything will remain up to speed through the fort mchenry and harbor tunnel. a 15 minute ride from the beltway all the way into the city. and if you are using 695 this morning, here's a live look at the top side of the beltway in towson at delaney valley road. no problems to report. nice and clear from parkville to 83 and here's the west side of the beltway at wilkins avenue. no delays here either. looks like it's in great shape. megan over to you. >> thanks. today is the day we take a moment out of our busy lives to pay respects to those who died on september 11th. families of the victims in the world trade center towers made their way to ground zero on the eve of the anniversary. during the somber time we learned two pieces of good news

are being released for survivors. a financial agreement will allow the september 11th memorial to go forward and the government will cover patients whose cancer was caused by the debris at ground zero. >> first responders who were there for us we will be there for them and we will compensate and provide treatment. >> about 50 new cancers will be covered by a $2 billion settlementp fund set up for victim compensation. there's local events happening today to commemorate the anniversary of september 11th. a candlelight vigil will take place tonight at 6:30 alodge the path at -- along the path at puddy hill avenue and you are inviteded to a ceremony in millersville in anne arundel county at the police and fire department headquarters. from will be a moment of silence at 8:50. and you can be entertained tonight the rock and the pier to support military families, a

concert from 6 until 11 at the hard rock cafe at the inner harbor. proceeds go to fisher house which helps military families who are in need. keep in mind state flags will fly at half-staff and this is for the death of a harford county sheriff corporal many family and friends will pay respects to charles lacato. his funeral is scheduled for tomorrow. >> parents with children in the chicago school district face another day of rearrangingl schedules while kid and teachers and they continue to strike today. the union representing the teachers say that no progress was made last night on contract issues so thousands of teachers and staff will hit the picket line. they did this yesterday and that's the video you are looking at. they are fighting over proposal of laid off tempes and

evaluations. the strike leaves classes without -- kids without classes forcing parents to find alternative plans. you look forward to greeting your child when they get off a school bus. you know that. but imagine waiting for your kid and the bus pulls up and they don't get off the bus. that's what a baltimore county father says happened to him when his 6-year-old son justin didn't get off the school bus. terry campbell says he started to driving along all the way to logan elementary school where his kid attend a spokesperson for baltimore county public schools says justin was assigned to the wrong bus but he was never left by himself. campbell says that that's not entirely true. >> as i am on my way up to school he is walking down the street by himself crying. >> the child realized the child was not comfortable after getting off the bus and the bus driver made sure they didn't drive off and kept the child in their sight. >> the transportation department is still trying to reach campbell to talk about what happened.

we will keep you posted on this story. montgomery county family must plan a funeral for their young boy who drowned in a pool. a neighbor found the toddler yesterday and performed cpr until help arrive. there was a caretaker and another child at home but it's not clear where they were at the time of the drowning. investigators are trying to determine exactly what happened. huge cleanup effort underway after the belco plant caught on fire. it's in harford county. they used to make rubber belting products and the fire started in the bottom of a elevator shaft. for fighters fought from the outside -- firefighters fought from the outside because it was too unsafe to go inside because it's so old. this's no word on what started the fire in the first place. he was a man who had generosity, he had vision and he had courage. he is a person who brought the ravens to charm city. and today art modell will be

laid to rest. abc2 news sherrie johnson is live as people come to say their final good-byes. >> reporter: well, we are here live just a few feet away from the baltimore hebrew congregation in northwest baltimore. today, family, friends and players will gather here to say a final good-bye to art modell. now, last night, before the ravens first kick off and national anthem everyone took a moment to pay tribute to modell. the stadium fell silence. we saw the loss on ray lewis face and his eyes tell the story. he saw modell as a father figure. modell is best remembered for contributions to the national football league and the owner of the cleveland browns from 1961 and 1995 and ravens from 1996 to 2003. he helped launch monday night football and was also known for his charitable work. modell is survived by his sons and six grandchildren. that funeral begins this morning at 11:00 followed by a

back to megan. investigators are trying to figure out if the sulfur scent is coming from the sea. they say it's come from an area where they had high wind and some speculate the wind could churned up the bottom of the hot sea. the sultan sea they are trying to pinpoint where the smell is coming from but not too pleasant in a pretty area. there's a month left to go in mosquito season and there's a lot of concern especially in our area about the spread of west nile virus. stay with us. we will tell you where health officials plan to spray tonight in hopes of preventing that potentially deadly virus from spreading. and it's a bear hug seen around the country. you probably remember this. this morning the pizza shop owner what he he has to say people are talking about this about him lifting the president off his feet. >> reporter: everything is up to speed on the west side at liberty road.

making news around the nation this morning, it's the bear hug that people around the country have been talking about. you probably have seen it by now. president obama got taken off his feet by one very enthusiastic supporter. take a look at this that happened as the president was doing his weekend bus tour in florida. he stopped by a restaurant and this is in fort pierce. the owner was so excited he lifted the president about a foot off the ground. he is a big guy. he says he just couldn't help himself. >> i guess i got caught you will in the -- caught up in the moment e opened up the door and was like where's scott and when i saw him he came right at me and shook my hand and i was

just so excited i just gave him a big hug and picked him up. it was crazy. >> exciting having a president go to your business. and he says he describes himself as register republican who voted for obama in 2008 and plans to do so again in november. there's a battle over territory going on in texas. it seems the town of austin not big enough for two teams. vandals loy to the university of texas used orange spray paint to put a giant ut over the top of a texas a&m football billboard and then a&m the logo covered in orange paint. some runners in salt lake city literally gave the shirts off their backs to help the homeless. more than 303 -- 3300 people took part in the annual 5k undery run for an effort to make utah less stuffy. for the second year in a row, it beat the guinness book of world record for the largest gathering of people in their underwear. so kudos to them.

a fabulous day to do so. high pressure will continue when you can see this on the future trend here. not a whole lot to see. so what i need you to do is follow the timeline and we might see a few high cloud. a few cumulus clouds popping up as we go throughout the day. just like yesterday, but still that is going to be bringing us plenty of sunshine in the forecast. we are not seeing the low cloud. those are the one that is we have to watch for to see if we are going to be seeing unsettled weather. not so much. 77 for today. mostly sunny and it's going to be nice outside. as we go through the evening, once again, we will be continued clear and cool with the temperature coming in right around 52 degrees. that's what we are waking up with this morning. 81 as we go through tomorrow. sunny skies and a little warmer. and we will have a warming trend but then temperatures will fall back down and we will have a chance for showers in the forecast as we head into sunday. but let's break it down as we head through today. yes, we have the orioles playing and that series will at this . as we go into wednesday and thursday. they are paying the tampa bay rays and we have beautiful weather for everything but

again as we go into sunday a slight chance of showers in the forecast. so get out and enjoy what we have for today. let's check the abc2 timesaver traffic with lauren cook. what's going on on the road. >> reporter: so far so good on 95. no concerns in the white marsh area. it's going to take 15 minutes to travel from the beltway all the way into the city. and if you are headed to the tunnels, no problems to report through the fort mchenry or harbor tunnel. if you are using 83, let's head outside and look live in hunt valley. notice everything up to speed at shawan road. no problems down to the beltway and nice and clear as you get on the to the jfx. and 695 in parkville at harford road, 11 minutes on the outer loop from 95 up to 83. megan over to you. 4:47. state police are ramping up enforcement of keeping truckers off the shoulders of major highways. now, part of the weekend signs went up along 83 north of thebeltway warning truckers if you pull over to rest on the shoulder, you are going to get in trouble and get a $60

twins born 35 hours apart. and now connor hope madison and victoria connor is outnumbered they are keeping mom and dad very busy. >> i think the biggest surprise is when the babies come, they are in charge. you know, and, what you think it's going to be like and how you have it in your mind is not necessarily going to be what it is. >> that's tough to prepare for for sure. the babies are 3-month-old and they are developing on their own and getting their ownpersonality. so hard to imagine. i can tell you as a mom of twins, changing two baby's diapers is a lot and expensive and i can't imagine four. >> they probably don't get much sleep. >> probably not at all. >> reporter: four babies. >> the joy. they are awesome. i admire her. how does it look at the road. >> reporter: so far so good on the roads. tracking you know all the highways. but so far so good. no accidents as of yet. >> i recommend stepping outside because it's so nice. >> exactly. >> feels like fall.
