region. that will be a big problem this morning. so you'll want to slow down and be careful as you head out. but we have a crash to tell you about in howard county. this is on route 1. this is something to keep in mind. and as far as the beltway is concerned, it's really picking up right now on the northwest corner. here's what it looks like on old court road. you're looking at a 11 minute ride. as we check in and take a look at other drive times, no problems to report on the beltway from parkville all the way up towards towson. and for those of you using the jfx, no problems to report and no delays, just 11 minutes to travel southbound from 695 all the way downtown to fayette street. two men are shot in north baltimore and the police are searching for the gunmen. linda so is live at the police

headquarters. what is the latest? >> reporter: the search continues for the suspects and the motive remains uncleared. two men were shot in the arm just before 10:00 last night near north parkway the men are in their 20s and 40s. both victims were shot in the arm. the men were found in a car. but the police say that the shooting did not happen at that election. they believe it happened somewhere else and they drove to that area. and men were taken to near hospitals with non-life threateng injuries. and the search for the suspect continues this morning and the motive is unclear. linda so, "abc 2 news." it is a tough time for people in harford county sheriff's department is preparing for at loss. they're saying good-bye to another sergeant this morning. he died of a heart attack wednesday night. he started feeling the symptoms during the funeral of another colleague who died in a car crash last week. he is survived by a wife and

18-year-old markkel ross. he was walking to scoot and shot. students are being asked to wear light blue shirts and they will release light blue balloons released today. baltimore public schools have a new approach to safety this morning. this comes on the heels of two gun related incidents at their schools. sherrie johnson is live at school headquarters with more on the security plan. i know you've been work the phones this morning what have you learned? >> reporter: i spoke to baltimore county public school officials and they tell me that today there is a meeting with teachers and staff to talk about an updated building security plan. this is a mandatory meeting. and the superintendent said that he wants to beef up security and safety in the schools. this comes after two major gun incidents at baltimore county public schools since the first day of class. in one incident, a student was shot in the cafeteria on perry

hall high school. and tuesday, and eighth grade student showed up and a student threatened his teacher and some of the institutes. today the officials will lay out a new plant it's a reminder to staff and students to be aware of your surroundings. and if you see something, say something. there will be a reporting line that is anonymous. and they will talk about the role of a soon-to-be hired school safety and security director. later today, i'm told that the superintendent will have a video message that will be posted on the county school's website about the safety and security plan. sherrie johnson, "abc 2 news." 6:48. you're invited to a farewell party that is happening for the former baltimore police commissioner. he retired in august after serving more than 30 years with the department. he is the longest-serving

a great thing to do this weekend. and the weather is going to be good for it. yes. the whether will be awesome for it so we're waiting for a cold front to slice through the area today and we'll have clouds trying to push in across the area. we can see this on the satellite and radar. but it looks like a few breaks behind the barb of clouds that will move in and the cold front will traverse the area. but running into dry weather as we go through the day. and we look at kent island. look at this beautiful shot this morning. you can see the boats there at the marina. it will be gorgeous. and make sure that you get out there and enjoy it we have changing weather in the forecast. but tomorrow, i think that you're going to like what the cold front brings. the temperature 58 in owens mills and glen burnie 57. and 59 in centerville and 55 in edgewood. elkton coming in at 56. this cold front will slide through today. early in the morning tomorrow, it should be out of here and

high pressure will scoot off towards the east and futurecast is picking up the dry air, dew points in the 50s. this will break up as it comes towards the mountains and coming in contact with the drier air and plenty of sunshine behind this. and we're looking at tropical storm nadine right now running into unfavorable environments for strengthening. but national hurricane center has it strengthening to a category 1 as we go through the next several days here. but this will stay away from us. 83 and partly sunny as we go through today, 58 and isolated shower this afternoon. and look at this beach forecast. we have a slight chance for showers today. but mild and partly cloudy saturday and sunday for bike week. here's the seven-day forecast as we look good tomorrow with the rain returning as we head into next week. and now a check on the traffic with lauren cook. a great week for bike week.

300,000 motorcycles expected for bike week in ocean city. so be careful. this is a crash on the outer loop at edmonton avenue. and it's a new accident reported on the inner loop at route 648. so you'll see extremely heavy delays. this is the top way of the beltway. no problems to report here. it will be nice and clear. an 11-minute ride on the outer loop from 95 up to 83. if you are using 95, here's what look like heading into the city. no problems to report. but the south side we're dealing with delays because of a crash. we're giving away $600 in free gas. all you have to do is like my facebook page and a winner will be drawn later this afternoon. so good luck. before we go we want to show you another quick shot of charles crowson's new baby girl olivia. she was born yesterday. she's absolutely perfect.
