an apple, it wasn't just about the new design. the other products and features you're soon going to see on the market. but first, it was just before midnight when anne arundel county police say a 70- year-old glen burnie woman was burglarized as she was getting dressed for bed. she wasn't hurt as the armed suspect took off, but the whole case sounds frightenly familiar to those on the block. we explain why. >> reporter: it doesn't take long before you see a police cruiser on country club drive in glen burnie. that is by design as the police respond the an armed burglary of a 70-year-old woman on this block saturday night. the police say the suspect broke into her home, had a knife, but when he realized she was awake, he took off, the search for him has been on ever since. >> just a lot of cops coming around, constantly running by. it is good to see. >> reporter: as are the traffic stops and i.d. checks the police have been doing in this neighborhood, the

officers don't know exactly who they're looking for. the detectives say when the suspect broke in the other night, he covered his tas with one of the victim's shirts. if this all sounds familiar, it is because it is. we were here almost exactly two years ago on this very same street to report about a sexual assault of an elderly victim. now, while the end result of these two crimes is different, the similarities are too much for the anne arundel police to ignore. >> we're look ing into the possibility it could be connected, but we haven't determined that to some incident that took place a couple of years ago on the same street. >> reporter: because in 2010, the m.o. was the same, same street, an elderly victim, and late at night. two years is quite the time between incidents, but the two cases are similar enough to raise concerns and the defenses this tight knit neighborhood. >> all of our neighbors talk to each other which is a good

thing, it keeps everybody inform and we keep an eye on the elderly people. we're just aware. >> what is going to happen when somebody catches them? >> i feel sorry for them. >> reporter: in glen burnie, abc 2 news. and anne arundel county police never made the arrest in the 2010 sexual assault. if you can remember seeing or hearing anything in either case that would help, call the northern district at 410-222- 6135. a 22-year-old is in custody after police say he set three fires in essex overnight. the fires were started shortly before 4:00 this morning. jamie brown's home is one of those targeted. in addition to the damage to his home, he lost things he feels can't be replaced. >> the volkswagon do you know buggy. it is -- you -- it is pretty much irreplaceable. i had it for 20 some years, and a jeep, the jeep c.j. 7. i mean, it was -- you know,

to everybody else it was nothing, but to me it is -- i enjoy it. it is my hobby. >> reporter: the baltimore county police say they found a man lying in the grass. we're told he lives in the area and they expect to file charges soon. the police say when they come across cases like this, they look at past charges to see if there pay be a connection. jo and an update now to breaking news we first brought you on abc 2 news at 11:00. two men were found shot in the arm near the intersection of northern parkway last night at about 10:00. the men are in their 20s and 40s and were taken to the hospital with knop-life- threatening injuries. the police say the shooting may have been drug related. they're still looking for a suspect. new information tonight on a double murder in pikesville. the couple was found murdered in their home in the 600 block of the avenue. they wanted to speak with their grandson about that situation. we have learned long has been taken to a hospital in oklahoma. the police say they haven't been able to interview him yet,

new safe school tip hotline so kids can report anything suspicious while remaining anoun mouse -- anonymous. >> we know students don't always feel comfortable going to an adult and that's why we want you to be aware of this tip hotline. we're also going to be developing an opportunity for them to text and-or e-mail information. we want them to feel comfortable getting toc information anyway that is comfortable for them. principals are alerting parents to the changes and to be alert for potential threats on their front. it follows the police department's commitment. and, of course, this comes after three gun-related incidents on school campuses in three weeks, the first, perry hall high school. 2 police say a 15-year-old student shot a 17-year-old in the back. daniel spent weeks in the hospital, but he was able to home earlier this week. the second was when the police say a student brought a gun to

school at the middle school, and in that case he waved the gun around the room before pointing it at himself. another was at morgan state university. that shooting happened in the student center. and neither the victim nor the shooter were students in that case. this week a prince george's student was also shot and killed on his way to school. there was a tribute for ross this afternoon on the football field at central high school. students were asked to wear light blue shirts in his memory. ross was killed tuesday morning while walking to school. the police have not released a motive so far and no arrests have been made. now a story about a man who faced death twice only to be saved each time by the same hospital. in 1987 gene cassidy should have died. he was shot twice in the head and this baltimore city police officer relied on those at the university of maryland medical center to save him and now gene shares yet another story of survival and grat tuesday. recently again's liver began to fail and while waiting for a

going into tomorrow. it is breezy to start out your saturday morning. and 70s as we head into tomorrow afternoon. there t. clouds across the area. the cold front is moving through central new york right now. notice lightning being picked up on maryland's most powerful radar. the bulk of this activity we're seeing well to the north. maybe a spot shower. there is more wet weather back over missouri that is going to move into parts of tennessee, and that stays off towards the south. there is a bigger storm that is starting to gather. and this will come into my as we head into monday that could bring us some big rains into much of maryland. then we go to the tropics. tropical storm nadine is moving ring towards the north at 12 miles per hour. the winds sustained around 70. and this is towards the east of ocean city. so we could be dealing with some, maybe rip currents down along the beach front. temperatures tomorrow morning, again, starting out into the 60s. we're on our way to the 70s a
