star. the program received a $125,000 grant from the team. the money will be used to do testing on young athletes and there will be a new psa on concussions. of course, we continue to watch this line of intense weather moving through the eastern shore. it has cleared the d.c. area. we still have rain on the eastern shore but this narrow band of storms, now moving through new york, eastern cecil county, through kent island, talbot county. this is the area we're watching. from kent island, a thunderstorm warning for car roll county. baltimore county we still have a flood warning in effect.

we still have a tornado watch for the delmarva peninsula. it's an interesting narrow band. we've seen radar, winds 80, not not miles an hour. we have some power outages across thetate. the high wind field pushing a lot of water into the chesapeake bay. let's head over to mike masco. >> it's all about the winds. that will mile in the water. let's take a look. i want to show you. there's a shot downtown. we've been watching some of these storm reports. new carrollton, a lot of trees, westminster, poles and trees down. a lot of flooding on 270 and frederick is reporting major flooding. be aware of that as flash flood

evening school activities. head to the weather page to sign up for the severe weather alert. another big story making news. confronted by a pair of strangers, a carroll county man survived a vicious attack. >> the attack happened in the front driveway of his home. >> reporter: cries for help inside oak okay estate sent neighbors running to this home on stillwater road where they saw the homeowner. >> he had a white shirt on and it was full of blood. >> reporter: the victim spoke to a pair of strangers, a man and a woman who appeared at his door out of nowhere. >> they knocked on the door. they wanted to use the phone and then after they -- he said no, he closed the door. >> reporter: a few minutes later, the man walked into his car to go to work and the

suspects reappeared, but this time they wouldn't take no for an answer. >> he was approached by the two individuals who demanded that they be granted access to the home. when he refused, they reportedly began to strike him several times in the head with a blunt object, a pistol. >> reporter: police searched the area to no avail. people in this otherwise quiet neighborhood remained alarmed fearful that they could strike again. >> i have a son. people are worried about their kids walking around because they're still out there. somebody's got a gun out there. >> reporter: paramedics rushed the victim to the carroll hospital center where he's been treated and released. jeff hager, abc2 news. >> anybody with information on the assault which occurred monday morning should call the

tip hotline. jamie? >> the royals scored a major victory in court over the semi nude photos of princess kate. they have to turn all the pictures over to the royal family. >> reporter: prince william and his wife kate were all smiles as the royal couple toured through the south pacific to go to the small island nation. afl a world away a royal celebration of a different sort. the duke and duchess of cambridge scoring a victory after a court ordered the magazine to hand over the toless photos of kate. >> the damage has been done. what the royal couple can hope for is future damage will be limited, if not eliminated by this decision. >> reporter: those photos were taken while kate and william vacationed at this private

village in the south of france. in the irish star, the editor now suspended and yesterday the italian magazine, the same magazine that offended the royals 15 years ago when it printed photos of diana's final moments. it's owned by former italian prime minister sill viian berly scone ni. the pictures have already been widely distributed on the internet. this is the first of two legal actions by the royal family. the lawyers will be filing a criminal complaint against the photographer and editors. reporting from france. new tonight, we're hearing more from the mom who sparked a

camera of mitt romney speaking at a private fund-raiser. today it's causing quite a stir but the republican candidate is not backing down. >> it's not elegantly stated. >> reporter: it comes from a private fund-raiser back in may. at one point romney talks about voters who rely on government programs and he argues president obama. >> 47% are with him who believe they're victims, who believe the government has the responsibility to care for them. my job is not to worry about those people. >> reporter: monday night, romney defended the meaning behind his words. >> do you believe in a govement-centered sheet that provides more and more been fits or do you believe instead in a free enterprise society where people are able to pursue their descreems? i believe the latter. >> reporter: the other one shows him joking about his father's background and the influence of the latino vote. >> he was born in mexico.

had he been born to mexican parents, i would have a better shot at wins. i say that jokingly. >> reporter: today mother jones released another clip where romney appeared pessimistic about peace in the middle east. >> committed to the destruction and elimination of israel. i'd say there's no way. >> reporter: so the romney campaign is responding to that last video clip saying those comments are consistent with what the republican candidate has said in the past and an interesting turn of events, mitt romney is attending two private fund-raisers today and cameras are allowed in both of them. >> how are democrats responding to all of this? >> reporter: well, jamie, clearly, they're trying to spin all this in a way that would benefit them. the obama campaign has released
