for back pain. abc2 news linda so is here with the latest developments and linda, why are health officials so worried this could get worse. >> reporter: well all of the facilities that unknownly game the con-- gave the contam name theed -- contaminated shot are ordered to check their stock. in marled we know of seven facilities that gave gave the shots including baltimore, towson, bel air and engwood. the cdc reports at least 5 people have died and 35 people have gotten sick in 6 states with fungal meningitis n maryland, one person died -- in maryland, one person died and another got sick. the outbreak is link to spinal steroid shots. state health officials worry it could get worse because hundreds of people are believed to have gotten the contaminated shot. it takes about 1 to 4 weeks for symptoms to surface. you should look for stroke like symptoms and a fever and headache and stiff neck or vomiting. >> it can take up to a month

for it to really show up. it is caused by a fungus of mold that doesn't cause harm. >> reporter: now you can find a complete list of the medical facilities here in maryland where the shots were given. it's on the website at abc2news.com and look in the slide show. the massachusetts company where the shots were manufactured has voluntarily shut down its plant. linda so, abc2 news. well it appears pro football and politics are meeting. the former nfl commissioner will donate 100,000 to maryland's same sex marriage campaign. he announced the donation at a fund-raiser. washington redskins came out in support of the state's expanded gambling law earlier this week. the maryland state police are taking the first step towards replacing the aging fleet of medivac helicopters. police will put the first new helicopters on display today. the agency has 11 helicopter and 10 of which are more than

20 years old. the state contracted to replace them in the wake of the 2008 helicopter crash that killed 4 people. the agency will get 10 new choppers. >> police in kansas city missouri are trying to find the person who punp out a city bus driver caught on surveillance camera. you can see the young men in the bus by the fare box. when they boarded, they didn't have enough money for the ride so the driver told them to get off. as they were exiting the video shows one of them punching the driver in the face. officers say he tried to continue his route but riders convinced him to stop after hitting orange cones in the road. a bizarre situation unfolding in fort myers florida for police there. this is surveillance video of the police station lobby. you can see a man enter into view police say he asked to talk to an officer and sits down. two officers come through the door and notice the man carrying a silver machete. yes, a machete. the man stands up brandishing it at the officers. police subdued the suspect.

bullying prevention month and it's a problem that so many educators and so many parents are worried about and they want to prevent. today a statewide bullying conference is held at the university of maryland in college park. an abc2 news sherrie johnson is live with more on this conference and what do they say about this? what are they going to a do? >> reporter: well, basically, the goal of the conference is to keep schools safe and they believe the information and vatties they teach the educate -- strategies they teach the educators will do this. some folks starreded to head that way yesterday so some meetings were head -- started to head that way yesterday so some meetings were held yesterday. now first lady of maryland and katy o'malley will be there as well as the state superintendent so a number of folks will be on hand for this conference. this is the third year for the event which coincides with national bullying prevention month. those who attend will seek the
