this is the grandmother, some of the family members jumped out of a second story woman. a 19-year-old tossed her 2-month-old out. 55-year-old nancy worrell called out for help before returning to the room where she died with her grandchildren. >> anybody who knew her, she said i love you. she with take you shopping, to the storey. she would do anything in the world for you i mess my mom. >> the fire is still under investigation. fire officials said it appears to have started in the basement. the four children who died ranged in age from 1 to 7 years old. so a tragedy like this can strike anyone at any team. the question is what could have been done to prevent this from happening. abc2's rosie leftwich is life

outside the department. >> reporter: this fire has made a lot of people think about their on fire safety plan. the last time we had a fire like this that killed so many people was in december of 2010. that fire led to an increased plan to get more smoke detectors in homes. call 311 to get one. >> our hope is that we can continue educating the entire city of baltimore to encourage those who don't have them to take that step. a smoke alarm is as close as your fingertips. all you have to do is call 311. our firefighters will install a 10-year lithium smoke alarp. since that fire, august 2011,

october. temperatures swing back and forth. they will swing cooler. cool hair will march in -- air will march in. it's creating snow. cooler breezier conditions. it will replace a mild breezy day, replacing that with low to mid-30s tomorrow night. again, spots could get down to that freezing mark by daybreak on saturday. cooler air marches in. we'll begin to warm up on sunday as an additional disturbance passes to the north. you see the indications of the change of seasons when we get into october. not a major shift in temperatures for us locally but you scan see what's a -- can see what's happening. snow's coming down. it's getting that fall look and early winter look.

tropical storm patty still kind of a three back from our setup earlier this season. the early indications is the storm will sit out there well south of bermuda. tonight 40, partly cloudy and cooler. as we look at the forecast, 64. variably cloudy skies. we will look at cooler air coming in. a warm breeze through the day and cooler tomorrow night. so if you're headed out on friday night, make sure you bring that extra layer. here's that weekend forecast, a cooler scenario into saturday. winds turn south. we may reach sunday. here's how things shape up into the rest of the seven-day forecast, bringing the chance of rain on monday and the end of next week. it's a dry outlook. that will be a marked change from last weekend when we did have rain to contend with.
