as a pastor, my support for question 6 is rooted in my belief that the government should treat everyone equally. i wouldn't want someone denying my rights based upon their religious views, so i shouldn't deny others based upon mine. it's about fairness. i support this law because it doesn't force any church to perform a same sex marriage if it's against their beliefs. and that's what this is about. protecting religious freedom and all marylanders equally under the law. join me in voting for question 6. alright, alright. now this is a party. what is that? go, go, go. mmm. give me some of that sauce. i don't know, i think i might bail. yeah, it's pretty dead. [ male announcer ] one is never enough. new kfc dip'ems. freshly prepared tenders dipped in irresistible sauces. this is it. now this is a party. 6:22 pm
reform social security and medicare. they are leaving that bill for your children, grandchildren and future generations yet to be born. first, balancing the budget is the only way to begin reversing the trend. we recognize we have a spending problem, not revenue problem. we can't raise enough through taxes to pay off the debt. it's a tragic cut in government spending. if we do not make the choice ourselves, mathematics will do it. we must address it now. finally, we must audit and end the federal reserve. we, the peernlings -- people need to regain the control and return to gold and precious metals. >> all right. a few questions for you this morning. upmentioned the $16 trillion
6:23 pm
debt, unemployment rate at 8%. where do you start? this is a long time process. >> and it took a long time to get here which started with base lien budgeting. so at some point that's going to catch up because they're increasing spending faster than they're able to growth economy. so the second part would be to -- we need to reform our tax system and go from the current payroll tam system to a con sum shn base which i advocate nothing more than 10%. eliminate payroll taxes, corporate taxes. that will grow manufacturing and create more jobs. that will fix your housing problem because people will have bet are paying jobs to buy housing. former secretary of state condoleezza rice recently referred to education in the united states as quote, the civil rights struggle of our
6:24 pm
day. do you agree with that assessment? >> to a degree i agree. education, whether good or barksd tran sends all bases. there are options such as charter school. the only thing the government is assigned to is to promote the arts and sciences. it's best left to the state and local ties. >> what do we need to do with afghanistan? >> we need this get out and stop this constant building up of other nation. that's driving part of our debt because we can't sustain it. those nations need to create their own destiny and they ned to choose what government is
6:25 pm
best for them. >> is the healthcare reform act the answer. this is president obama's landmark piece of legislation and mitt romney said he will repeal it. what do you think? >> i don't support it. romney said he will repeal and replace. free market solutions will fix this. free market is where we need to g the problem is whenever government gets involved, it costs more and we usually have more problems come from government getting involved. >> while you are one person running for congress right now, what do you say about the stalemate that exists? sometimes it's just nastiness. >> you're one of 435 peoplen capitol hill, so first you have to find people on issues that you agree on. if there's issues you agree on, you work together but never
6:26 pm
compromise your principles. >> thank you so much. >> thank you. >> to see more of this interview and other cawndzs you -- candidates, you can go to our website abc2news.com/politics. >> where does this storm rank? >> as far as nor'easters or coastal runners, right at the top, if it ends up going where the models say. it's a matter of where, not if. here it; power house, childrenning off the florida coast, category two hurricane, intense and large. it's got a huge distance, hundreds of miles. seven-day forecast. the best chance for severe weather is going to come in as we go into sunday and monday. >> we'll continue to keep an eye on it. >> and with your mobile apps.

6:28 pm
and west virginia, don't make me send jonathan ogden over there. mayor: vote for question seven. ogden: for baltimore. it's heavy lifting. you start with a democratic senator named ben. by getting bwi-marshall funding for new runways, he's helping us serve 21 million passengers a year, which helps keep 100,000 jobs that depend on the airport, and that means more cargo for more businesses and more skycaps unloading more taxis... welcome to bwi. ...carrying families with more luggage. thanks. it's like he's out here with us. he's my friend, ben. i hope he's your friend, too. i'm ben cardin, and i approve this message.
