hello, everyone. i'm beth troutman. this is "right this minute" and we have videos first. a fast-moving fire surrounds atv riders and, guess what? >> this is the only road out of this forest. >> now one survivor tells us about the longest ride of his life. >> i'm not going to like it. my heart pounded a few times. who are you going to call when you discover there's a kitten stuck in my drain pipe. >> see the clever move that had them going -- >> a bad day. >> wow! >> a bunch of guys are out for a motorcycle ride. >> and something poms out in the middle of the road. >> how a white out caused a wipeout. a deer gets a craving for.

>> a nice short stack from ihop. >> how they got mr. rooty tooty fresh and fruity out of the restaurant. take a look at this incredible video from the mcgrueder corridor in idaho. this video is a first person perspective from an atv rider riding down this dirt corridor. it connects two parts of the wilderness in idaho and it's basically a single road out of this area. watch what these riders come upon. >> oh, my goodness. >> you can see it in the distance and it's not looking good. >> oh, wow. wow. >> right now idaho is dealing with some forest fires, and this particular fire was caused by a lightening strike. a few guys went out on a four-day atv trip and when they went through going into their trip everything was clear. a few days later, on saturday they head out and this is what they saw. now this camera was mounted on a rider. his name is brian drake.

he was on this trip from spokane, washington. we have him via skype right this minute to tell us about this trip and how they got out. describe to me exactly what's going on as we watch this video. >> we were on our way out of the mcgrueder corridor. when we got to this particular area the forest service stopped us and told us the fire was too big, we may have to spend a couple of nights back there in the wilderness extra. he goes, we're going to try to go ahead and punch through. if you want to try to follow us out, you can. he had a meeting with us, a huddle. he told us to what to look for. he said, don't worry about the fire and don't worry about the heat but what you want to look for is any of those trees that have burned off that could fall down and get you and land on top of you. he led us through it. you can hear it in my breath. you can hear me giving that old oh, boy, here we go. >> did you guys have a plan b? >> plan b was absolutely to turn

around and go back and just camp out. it would have been a challenge to turn around. >> how did you avoid damage from smoke inhalation? >> in the one portion of the video where we're stopped you can see my dad behind me and he had a white mask on. it eps had a little bit but it's hard to breathe. >> did this feel like the longest ride of your life? >> it was a long haul. i'm not going to lie to you. my heart was pounding. of course, my biggest fear was i had eight other people with me and i was in the lead. i wanted to make darn sure that we all got through there and, boy, it was a relief to get through. i really thank the forest service personnel that helped us through that. they're the real heroes. so the michigan humane society against a phone call from a detroit homeowner saying there's a kitten stuck in my drain pipe. so they turned out to rescue it. >> i took the food and stuck it down the drain pipe. i was not able to reach him. i took a part of a towel, put

food and the kitten was grabbing it and didn't want to hold on. i called for help assistance. >> do you know how deep that little drain pipe was? >> it seemed to be a foot to two feet down. in the process, look what they found under the cement block here. >> i noticed on the other side about five feet away there was a portion of the foundation with a hole in it. i see three kit tens there. >> they found three other cats under there. they rescued them, took them out. you've seen them removing the stairs and then they just start digging it out. >> listen to his little cry. >> the house has these drain pipes and a lot of them are obsolete now but they're all open. animals fall on in there. >> one of them sticks their hand down there to grab them. >> i can't. they're stuck there. >> they get one of those grabbers and look what happens. >> we're having a bad day. >> wow. >> oh! >> one of those little grabbers in the arcade game.

reached down and pulled out a stuffed kitten. >> rudy the cat was retrieved. they were all taken to the michigan humane society detroit center animal care and they are now up for adoption. >> yeah. >> way to go humane society. they do some amazing stuff. >> he wants to come out really bad. >> we're having a bad day. beth, this is one of my worst nightmares. i ride motorcycles. they're out for an evening cruise. 65, 70 miles an hour. the speed limit is 70 in this area. group of guys up ahead and something pops out in the middle of the road. >> oh! >> oh! oh! >> i know. it's hard to watch. it was just some styrofoam that fell out of a truck up ahead. it caused two riders to fall. a couple of guys jammed the brakes, spin around.

you see traffic completely stopped behind this incident. riders and other passersby helping out the two guys that zblel where's the other guy? >> what was it, styrofoam? >> just styrofoam. >> fasten that down. if it's in the back of your truck, rope it down or put heavy concrete blocks on it. >> thankfully it appears that both riders had helmets on, they had ballistics jackets on which have padding on the backs, shoulders, elbows. the guy the a the end of the video had jeans on and rugged shoes as well. hopefully the injuries were minor. no reports as to what eventually happened to these guys. >> wow, that is terrifying. >> my god. a nice short stack from ihop. >> rooty tooty fesh af absolutely. >> this little guy crashed through the window of the ihop one early morning. >> oh, boy. >> i think he really wanted a short stack. >> yeah.

doesn't look like the place was open. >> you're right, it doesn't look like the place is open. he ran around. he went into the kitchen. he finally tried to in this part of the video crash through a second window to escape. didn't quite make it through. got tangled in the blinds. eventually the manager at this ihop did open the emergency door for him and he was able to get away. >> the thing is ihop has all of those different kinds of syrup on the table. they've got a raspberry, boys sen berry, deer like to eat berries. >> you know what's interesting, this is from my hometown. it's a big shopping mall in mission valley. it's all the way to the beach. i want to know where the deer came from. >> he couldn't find anything to eat. he wanted to get something to eat. >> oh, dear. >> oh, deer! are you ready to hear how we've all been peeling a banana

>> we did drop balloons from a ladder on to people's heads. what's actually happening is that the plastic around the balloon or the rubber around the balloon is exploding faster than the water loses shape. >> it seems like the guys are all dry when this is happening. did you have to have a big toum budget to dry them off every time there was a business stake? >> yes. that was part of the contest to keep them completely clean so that there was this stark contrast between the skin and the water. >> so, tim, on the mohawk one, for example, would that be a long water balloon resting on the guy's head and then you pop it at the right moment? >> yeah, yeah, that was a long, skinny balloon popped at the right moment. >> if there's a water balloon popping on their head, how are they not flinching? >> great subjects. >> it seems to be getting a lot of attention. are you surprised by that? >> i am surprised by it. i'm honored and humbled by it. some of the projects we do
