country and who are still serving. stephanie rawlings-blake will be on hand for this event starting at 9 this morning right here at mount vernon square where it will wind downtown. the mayor will lead a march of dignitaries from the washington monument to the actual ceremony. there will be a formal ceremony at the war memorial plaza. a number of streets will be closed this morning because of the parade starting at 7 a.m. work see -- we can see signs posted along the street that say the streets are blocked off at 6 a.m. so, but you can -- they need you to move your cars by 6 a.m. and then there will be road closures at 7 a.m. and, of course, lauren cook will have more on the road closures coming up in just a bit. but the actual marchs starts at 9:00 this morning followed by the ceremony that starts at 10 this morning at war memorial plaza. reporting live in downtown

baltimore, sherrie johnson, abc2 news. news time 5:33. and every year mission barbeque honors those who served our country by offering complimentary sandwiches. and today, they are kicking it up a notch. they have brought in charm city cakes they are going to make world war ii iwo jima cake and they are going to unveil it at the freedom isn't free event. all veterans and families are invited to attend and they are ensighted to have cake and sand -- invited to have cake and sandwiches this well at restaurant on ritchie highway this morning. the man suspect in rape cases says he doesn't know why he couldn't stop attacking women for nearly 20 years. aaron thomas told the washington post women were objects to him and he says he doesn't think he is crazy but knows something is wrong with him. thomas is expected to plead guilty to the abduction of three well in 2009 and a rape in 2001. he was arrested after a multistate effort to cap him. he is the man believed -- catch him. he is believed to be responsible for attacks on 17

women since 1997 including four here in maryland. late night shooting at taco bell in columbia over the weekend still police have no one in custody. manager who is not being named remains in critical condition this morning. howard county police say that there were two men in the parking lot who came up to him and for some reason they started shooting. he made it back into the restaurant where two employees called 911. the taco bell has -- was opened on sunday evening and customers there were learning of what happened and neighboring business owners are coming up with plan themselves. >> [audio not understandable] we hire people to do extra protection. >> so again police are investigating this because the suspects are still on the loose. a nice day at the flea market turns violent. police say that a man was hit in the head with a rubber

mallet. it broke out between two groups around one yesterday. two people are in police custody this morning. in now is around the nation a. veteran does what it takes to protect himself and his wife when an intruder tries to break in. 77-year-old lloyd mccarty was watching television when he heard a light knock and thought it was suspicious so he grabbed his gun. when he came back the intruder was trying to break in and that's he took aim at the door. >> so when he hit that door, that's when i shot through the door. he went to hollering and screaming. and i could hear him down the street hollering. >> his wife called 911 after hearing her hug husband scaring off the would be thief. no word if police were able to catch the person. you have seen thieves trying all sorts of ways to bust into atms now there's another technique to add. a forklift. look at. this no joke. the thief ran the forklift right into the atm in tennessee.

petraeus affair late october. the affair may have remained secret if not for the threatening e-mails his lover sent to another woman who was close to petraeus jill telly wife of a tampa surgeon and a long time supporter of the military contacted the f. fbi after receiving this threatening e-mail. the e-mails were traced back to paula broadwell the woman petraeus was reportedly having an affair with. broadwell is married mother of two and wrote a biography of petraeus saying they bonded over the shared mental and physical discipline during the trip to afghanistan to interview him. >> an opportunity tore me to interview him on the -- for me to interview him on the run and i thought i would test him and he was going to test me. >> reporter: petraeus was supposed to testify this week on the consulate attack in benghazi but now the cia interim director will speak in his place. linda so, abc2 news. 5:47. five things know as you head out. president obama is inviting leaders from the labor and
