beltway and we are at 43 in baltimore city. annapolis at 41. so it's not bad out there. this is above average for where we should be this time of year. the dry -- the air i should say over us is dry with dew point values into the 20s and again we will be dealing with clouds this afternoon. mostly cloudy skies will take us into the tail end of the day and notice how the clouds sink towards the south. wednesday looks good but gets cold. we will show you that in the seven-day forecast coming up in a few minutes. >> we are following breaking news out of washington where the senate approved a fiscal cliff deal. they voted this morning around 2:00. 89 voted for and 8 voted against. the senate package will keep the expiring tax cuts in place for those earning less than 400,000 and couples earning less than 450,000. unemployment insurance will be extended a year to 2 million people. that heads to the house and for final approval that's expecteded morning or by --

expecteded this morning or -- expected this morning or by lunchtime. thousands gathered to remember loved one who is couldn't be here. 216 people were murdered in baltimore city in 2012. last night, there was a vigil honoring them all. victims families politicians and faith community members stood together outside the war memorial building. the mayor explained even though other violent crimes are down, homicides in baltimore city are up. >> the people who we lost to violence on streets, our sons and daughters and brothers and sisters, the loss is trammingic to their families and to the city -- tragic to the families and the city. >> this is the forth year they gathered to remember the dead. two teens spent new year's eve behind bars. they have been charged withbeating up another man more than a month ago. police arrested terrance green and dominic wardrick yesterday. they say they attacked a 33- year-old man back in november. the victim was found on the sidewalk near lombard and

howard streets. this morning he is still in the hospital. green and wardrick are 18 years old. secretary of state hillary range in the new year in a -- rang in the new year in a hospital. she has a blood clot between the brain and skull. it was found during a follow-up for the concussion she suffered a few weeks ago. doctors hope to release her from the hospital at sometime in the next two days. secretary clinton has been out of work now for most of december recovering from stomach virus and a concussion. she was supposed to return to the state department had week. today is a big day for same sex couples. wait is over for many in maryland that can legally wed. it's been a long battle but same sex marriage was approved by voters in november. and abc2 news sherrie johnson is live at city hall with the very latest on this and it's the latest. some people have tied the knot. >> reporter: that's actly right. bright and -- exactly right. bright and early 7 same sex

couples wed downtown after midnight this morning. a historic day for maryland. and you know, the couples stood and waited patiently to say their vows. baltimore mayor hosted some of the first marriages for same sex couples in the state of maryland and performed a very -- the very first ceremony herself. they brought friends and family to take part in the historic ceremony new year's day will have a new meaning for many couples who have have right to marry -- who can have the right to marry the person they love. they got a license in december and today they were able to tie the knot. new year's day marks the culmination of years of work by gay and lesbian marylanders and allies to persuade state legislators and voters to support full marriage rights for same sex couples. >> i think at one time we never thought we would see this day, and now we are standing here in city hall and it happened, it is very wonderful. >> overwhelming.

lot of purple around town. this as the city gets ready for the ravens wild card playoff game sunday. this morning, crews will paint ravens logos at city hall and federal hill. ravens cheerleaders and the team mascot will join in on the fun by providing give aways for ravens fans. hundreds of thousands of minimum wage workers will get a pay raise this new year. rhode island workers will see the biggest pay increase. workers in nine other states including colorado, florida and ohio will see their minimum wage jump between 10 and 15 cents an hour. a hagerstown teen who died earlier this year will be honored with a float in today's tournament of rose pass raid. 17-year-old died. and his float is called journeys of the heart and pictures a -- feature a picture of the teen made out of flower materials. ups says thus is the -- thursday is the biggest return

>> when you think about that retrospective and so much that happened in 2012 i mean we were talking about it as we watched. mike and i, about what our favorite story was. well, from a news perspective, having a favorite is difficult. these story of the year was the sandy hook shooting. the coolest. >> but it's not a favorite. >> exactly it's not but from what we do that's the most impactful. the coolest story to me was the sky diver from the stratosphere. >> i will agree. on the weather front, there's just not very good stories this year. i will say. >> hard. >> but that was very cool where he was breaking records and you

build just north of dayton ohio. 35 in town but up towards canada international falls 14 below zero. that cold air is building right now. and it's going to release over the ohio valley. release over the mountains and it will be over baltimore going into tomorrow. 42 is above normal afternoon. chilly and going into tonight, we will see the clouds kind of dissipate a bit and that will allow for temperatures to fall to around 27. look at the seven-day forecast. 42 today goes to 37 for wednesday. and it's a blend of sunshine and clouds. i think it's going to be sunnier than we have had over the last couple days. and it's ineffective sunshine. thursday only goes to 34. and look at the overnight lows. teens to around 21 and man we don't break out of this cold. 36 still on friday. aid blend of sunshine and clouds right into the weekend. a bit of a bump up to around 39 degrees. 40s by sunday and monday but

many of us got out of thousands ring in the new year. a part of ohio went to the dogs. every year this doggy day care hosted a party for the pets while the owners are out celebrating. they set up web cams so they can check in on the pooch while they have a good time. it could be a downer to know your dog is having more fun than you. >> a lot of people are doing more watching of the web cams than participating in their parties i think. just like with humans, everybody gets pictures post on facebook so do the dogs. we make sure there is not anything too embarrassing on the photos. >> i hope not. the dogs have their own brewed
