tempers flared as a stepfather handed two children back over to his father, and pointed a handgun at his head. >> he blocked it but somehow both men became involved in an altercation or scuffle. as they fell to the ground the gun discharged. >> reporter: 40-year-old david greg drove back to his house on periwinkle way and edgewood where per medics respond and he had a .40 caliber bullet in his shoulder. deputies arrested him when he returned home. the children, ages three and nine, escaped the dropoff without injury. the step dad only ended up shooting himself. >> wonings the weapon fired, there's no way to determine where the bullet would have gone.

new year's eve they had to put the fire out in another home just a block away from today's fire. police received several calls new year's day for three separate cents at the exrown plaza hotel in timonium. the first call came about 1:45. someone punched a security guard. then minutes later a call was put in for a male who overdosed at the hotel. he was taken to the hospital. about an hour after the first call, police were alerted to a stack at the hotel. they can only connect the assault to the hotel's new year's eve party. a boiler exploded at an recount recount middle school sending -- anne arundel middle school sending two people to the hospital. students were evacuated from the school.
