police say a string of 7 burglaries might be connected jumped up to ten. brian kuebler explains how they are piecing this crime trend together and what to look out for, how one of the burglaries has police concerned. >> sometimes a passing car is all you hear up here in this fairly rural part of baltimore county. since the beginning of the year, a noticeable disturbance, for baltimore county police. >> our detectives and our criminal analysis unit identified a number of burglar ares occurring in the northern cockeysville area, there are 7 at this point, we are investigating to see if they are connected. >> reporter: police can't or won't say it's the same burglar but they are happening close to one another in phoenix, monk tin and others, a mix of break ins and using open doors or windows, 7 concerning enough

but today, police added three to that count including one of them on sweet air road west of jarrettsville pike. most of the cases the suspects are making off with cash, jewelry and electronics. the burglars stole two handguns and that immediately raises the profile of the trend for baltimore county police detectives. >> when guns are taken, we have are going, what they will be used for that triggers additional response from our agency. >> reporter: people who live in the area, where the guns were stolen, may notice extra patrol. there will be under cover details, a net cast aimed to cut the burglaries at 10:00 with a focus on recovering not just the stolen property but the two guns in the wrong hands. brian kuebler, abc2 news.

. as always, the police can use your help in this case, reporting anyone in a vehicle that looks suspicious in the area, lewe will keep you updated if the burglaries continue. police a police officer is facing cruelty charges after the family dog was found emaciated and wondering. the shepherd mix was treated for prostate and kidney infections , the dog had to be put down. the owners were served with criminal summons and both face misdemeanor animal cruelty. steven is an 11 year veteran of the police department and placed on administrative leave. update to a story we brought to you as breaking news last night at 11:00, a person was hurt after a two alarm fire in north baltimore near i don't care and cold spring lane. the flames were so intense the second floor partially collapsed. that forced firefighters to move outside to fight the fire. one person is in the hospital
