5:31 am
we can go ahead and zoom in. you can see some snow around afternoon den along i-83 if your travels are going to take you on this roadway be careful out there. it's very slick. we can see it around arbutus this morning. wood lawn. also lynn acres getting in on the light snow this morning as well. we slide a little further to the south and we can see it around crownsville this morning. and also the ridges and bladen. also walden. so again, slick roadways if we can see the icing out there and we have a little bit of patchy fog out there as well. we have it all and then we talk about the cold temperatures as we look at abc2's most accurate temperatures right now. sykesville 14. more of the same in catonsville. west friendship coming in at 11. and as you plan your day, well, the flurries will start to taper off as we go into your morning rush hour ending it and by lunchtime windy. temperature coming in at 25 but feeling like we are in the teens once again. charlie? lynette thank you. you woke up and looked outside and you found white instead of green. don't worry we're not expecting another snowpocalypse today. but this could slow down the drive to work. so linda is out live this
5:32 am
morning braving the elements and just how bad things could be. and linda, you're in a neighborhood, this could be a real area of concern. the main roads will be taken care of. but it's the people getting out of their homes that could be a problem. >> reporter: you want to give yourself a little extra time to get out and get going. we are on roland heights in hampton this morning and this is basically the story you're going to find in neighborhoods. the side streets, neighborhood streets are still covered in snow. we have about an inch here. we haven't seen any snow trucks come by and most of the roads are still snow-covered. as you can see over there the sidewalks are also still covered. so you might have to shovel that. getting out to your car. if you plan to take your dog out for a walk this morning. just keep that in mind. you'll probably want to get on your snow boots and heavy coat. just to brave the elements out here. this is the type of snow where you won't need your ice scraper, basically when you get out to the car you can just brush it off. you can see how easily that brushes off there. but again give yourself some extra time because the snow is sticking to cars and the
5:33 am
sidewalks. right over here you can see a sidewalk, again, if you're out for morning jog or walking the dog this morning, just keep that in mind. get your snow boots out. most of the main roads, the highways, are passable. but you could find some slick spots because the temperature is below freezing. we're live in hampton, linda so, abc2 news. well, linda that snow is certainly a very powdery one but it is sticking to the roads and unfortunately, we are dealing with several accidents. we have a crash right now on 95 along the northbound lanes at route 32. and we are dealing with two accidents on 83 in baltimore county. one is just been moved to the shoulder of the northbound lanes at old york road. we are dealing with another crash southbound at padonia road. if you are heading out here's what 83 looks like just north of 695. fortunately not too many delays heading into the city or looking at just an 11 minute trip traveling southbound from the beltway to east fayette street. do watch out for a crash in the city. and another in towson on east
5:34 am
joppa road. 695 free of delays. it's going to take you 11 minutes to travel the outer loop from 95 all the way up to 83. and the west side also going to be clear of delays. if you're looking at an 11 minute trip on the outer loop from 795 down to 95 but the roads really slick. so reduce the speeds to stay safe. that's a look at your abc2 timesaver traffic. charlie over to you. news time 5:34. we have breaking news out of baltimore city this morning. crews worked overnight on a three alarm fire and this morning abc2 news' sherrie johnson is live on that scene with the details and if you can clarify for us quickly here. this was a commercial building. not a home right? >> reporter: that's exactly right. we've been talking to people out here on the scene and authorities tell me that this fire actually hit a local business. take a look behind me. you can see that crews are still on the scene at the intersection here of north calvert and read streets. they are cleaning up after this three alarm fire. we're noticing here that they are focusing right now on the
5:35 am
roof area. they're basically working on hot spots. they have put the fire out. but they're working on hot spots and yes again we talked to local authorities here on the scene and they are telling me this is a local business, this is a commercial building. the call came out just before 1:00 this morning when crews arrived the three story brick building was fully engulfed in flames. this is an end of group commercial building for a lowell cool business. the first, second and third floors were in flames and heavy fire on all of the floors made it unsafe for firefighters to go inside. they actually fought that fire from the outside. no one was inside the building at the time of the fire. no one was hurt as firefighters battled this fire. because of the cold temperatures, an mta bus was brought in for shelter to help people keep warm and you know for those who actually needed it. right now there's no cause of the fire but we understand that several investigators are on the scene at this hour still trying to figure it exactly what happened here this morning. reporting live in northeast
