time. let's get a check now of the abc2 timesaver traffic with lauren cook. good morning. good morning lynette. well, we do have wind advisories in effect for those of you traveling across the bay and key bridge and reduce your speeds and also dealing with a lot of flooding this morning. in baltimore county, be careful in cockeysville. there's some flooding reported right on western run road at western road. and also on york road attacherwood reed. a -- at sherwood rote. a look at 83 and you'll notice the camera shaking and actually here's a look at the beltway. northwest corner, traffic starting to pick up but you're still looking at the eight minute ride on the outer loop from 795 down to 70 and the outer loop will be nice and clear as you make the push up to pikes vim. back to 83 and -- pikesville. back to 83. you'll notice the camera really shaking and that's due to the heavy winds. but no delays as you go down to the beltway and it will remain nice and clear on to the jfx. just 11 minutes right now southbound from the beltway downtown all the way to east

fayette street. white marsh, a clear ride night now. that's a look at your abc2 timesaver traffic. megan and charlie, over to you. 6:30 right now and we have breaking news to tell you about. a house fire in southwest baltimore and we have learned that a person has died. now we're getting new information as we speak right now. abc2 news' sherrie johnson is life on the scene and what's the latest? >> reporter: yeah, we are here in southwest baltimore on the scene of the early morning fire. we have learned that yes one person has died and another person was injured and has been taken to the hospital. we understand it's a mother and daughter but we're not quite sure which one passed away and which one is in the hospital. right now i have chief kevin cartwright joining me live here with the baltimore city fire department. chief can you shed some more light on what happened here with the early morning fire? >> good morning. just before 5:00 this morning, fire erupted in the 1,000 block of north rosedale street. units were dispatched and they arrived here on the scene to find the occupied dwelling with very, very heavy fire

conditions on the first floor extending to the second floor. our firefighters gained entry and performed a rapid attack to suppress the fire. at the same time, other firefighters were performing search and rescue operations where they found one adult woman who suffered serious burns and smoke inhalation. she was treated here at the scene and transported to bay view burn center for further evaluation of those injuries. while firefighters located the lifeless body of an adult woman as well. we do believe this is a mother and a daughter. however, i still have yet to determine which one expired and which one was treated and transported. the fire was contained to the structure of origin. and when i -- [ no audio ] and we're having trouble there with sherrie johnson and we'll get back to here before the end of the show today. in other news the countdown is on. we are just three days away from super bowl xlvii. and the ravens are not wasting any time getting ready. the team is going to hold their

second practice today in new orleans. yesterday, they suited up and hit the field at tulane university for a two hour practice that did not stop because of heavy winds. ravens' linebacker ray lewis talked to the media about the upcoming retirement. >> when clock hits triple 0s, no matter what happens that will be my last ride. if there was any greater stage to do it on, it would be this stage. so it's an awesome ride for me. >> and coming up tomorrow john and jim harbaugh will hold a joint news conference. their parents, they held theirs yesterday. >> been more than seven years since katrina hit. and however some parts of new orleans are still recovering. the st. bernard project rehabs homes that were devastated by flood waters. the founder says the need for volunteers has not diminished. >> there's 130 clients on our waiting list and we're getting ten plus calls a week. people who own homes who can't afford to bei would their houses. -- rebuild their houses. the average age of the callers is 61 years old.

thank you for joining us. we are working for you this morning as you head out the door because the weather is a big story. >> all right, got to get right to meteorologist lynette charles with the latest on the storms that rolled through last night and what's expected this morning. >> all right, so we are starting to move this wet weather out of here. maryland's most powerful radar just picking up on some light showers across the area, across eastern shore this morning. but all in all, drying out nicely. but in the wake we are very blustery this morning. and that will continue right through the afternoon. so with that we do have a wind advisory that's in effect until 6:00. that's for our entire viewing area for today. and then things will start to improve but it's going to get cold. and then we're going to talk about snow. so once again, we started this week crazy and we're going to end this week on a crazy note as well. so we look at pilesville temperature right now coming in at 41 degrees. these temperatures will fall or hold steady as we go throughout

the day. we look at stevesville the temperature coming in at 46 degrees right now and those winds out of the northwest at about 19 miles an hour. and we will see gusts up to about 50 miles an hour as we head through time. now we look at the planner and it looks like this. 46 degrees this morning. you're waking up around 8:00. gusty blustery. those are going to be the words that are going to be thrown around all day long. i have some good news to deliver and we will start to see the clouds on the decrease throughout the day as the winds begin to go up. let's get a check now of the abc2 timesaver traffic with lauren cook. good morning. good morning lynette. well, we are dealing with flooding across the region and fur traveling in anne arundel county do be extra careful on 97 at hoods mill road. we have a crash reported in windsor mill in baltimore county right at dogwood road near ridge road. and we have flooding in that area as well. so definitely take it easy and never drive through standing water and you never know how deep it is. if you are traveling in baltimore city, we have an

accident on pulaski highway at crescent street. a live look at 695 here, and here in parkville at harford road, you'll notice traffic is moving right along. you won't have any problems getting up to towson or traveling the inner loop down to 95. we have though wind restrictions in effect for the key bridge as well as the bay bridge. and here in hunt valley. 83 at shawan road you'll notice that camera really shaking and we are dealing with the heavy winds. we have flooding not far from this scene on western run road at western road. and more in cockeysville right on york road at sherwood road. that's a look at your abc2 timesaver traffic. megan and charlie, over to you. the parents of a little boy are edge this morning. they're simply hoping they can see him and hug him once again. >> the 5-year-old was snatched off a bus this alabama yesterday afternoon and police say the gunman slot the bus driver several times before kidnapping the child. >> he's now hosting the boy hostage in a bunker and police are talking to the man through a pvc pipe. they're sending back medication to the boy as well as box and

crayons. toyota has issues another recall. the company is recalling more than one million cars. this is for faulty air bags and windshield wipers. the recall affects more than 750,000 corollas and corolla matrix cars that were sold in 2003 and 2004. toyota is also recalling the lexus i. s. luxury cars for wipers that can get stuck in heavy snow. if company says the air bag problem has caused two unconfirmed crashes and several minor injuries. studies say the odds of finding a fraudulent charge on your credit card are relatively slim. and this may be because your card issuer has some protections set up to help you. card hub found that zero liability guarantees for the four major credit card networks. you don't need to preregister to qualify for the protections but you do need to report activity that may be suspicious. they say do things like keep tabs on your credit cards

china. take a look at this. the walls came tumbling dodge. it took one not just one but two buildings and fortunately no one was hurt but about 300 people living nearby had to be evacuated as you would expect. five things to know on this thursday morning. nominations hearings start today for former senator chuck hagel. he has been nominated by the president to become the next secretary of defense. hagel could face a battle with the confirmation because of past comments ant israel and hamas and iran. the senate is exemptioned to vote today -- scheduled to vote today to increase the government's debt ceiling. it would allow an estimated 450 billion dollars in new debt to be added to the ledger. the house passed the measure last week. prosecution star witness in the phylicia barnes' murder trial took the stand. james lee claims he saw her dead body in michael johnson's apartment back in 2010. he is charged with the teen's

murder and his lawyer tried to discredit lee as an uncredible witness. 35 police recruits are graduating today from the maryland transportation authority police training academy. they're going to be assigned to places like bwi airport and the port of baltimore. and listen to this. a century old nickel is worth a lot more than five cents. the 1913 liberty head nickel goes on auction today or rather next month and it could sell for as much as $5 million. again, this is a nickel. there's only -- there are only five of its kind in the entire world. >> millions, unreal. give yourself extra time this morning when going to work. some of the roads will be underwater and you'll probably see blockages out there and people having to be diverted around. abc2 news linda so is out there live onrushing yesterday. what are you -- york road. who are you seeing this morning? >> reporter: we're here along york road where you can meets chumleigh. you can see the water flooded the street out here and all through past that intersection.

and here along york road, this state highway truck is actually monitoring the situation here. has the lane down to one road. directing traffic because of the high water. one thing to keep in mind this morning as you're heading out for work or school that some area roads will look like this. all that rain last night flooded out some areas. we did put a call out to several dispatch centers throughout the area. they tell us this is the situation along several roads throughout our viewing area in the baltimore region. so just keep that in mind. again if you see standing water, do not try to drive through it. you don't know how shallow it could be. it doesn't take much for your car to stall out or for you to get stuck. but again here along chumleigh road and york road, this is situation just something to keep in mind and be careful this morning. we're live in towson, linda so, abc2 news. all right, yeah you want to follow her advice and just turn around, don't brown. that's the -- drown. that's the motto. satellite and radar if wet

weather out of here. we are going to be dealing with the winds for today and also the snow is on the way as well. let's take you outside and bel air and you can see what's going on. we will start to break up those clouds, the clouds will decrease as we go through the day. we'll get some sunshine in here as well but that sunshine is not going to warm us up too much. temperatures right now coming in at 43-degrees in catonsville and kent island at 45 and edgewood 45 and westminster coming in at 38. but we're dealing with rainfall totals for this morning. this goes on top of what we saw yesterday. so over .6 of an inch now in westminster and over .4 in catonsville and also kent island. and close to .4 in edgewood the morning. now the winds are going to be the big story for today. the gusts now being reported up to 46 miles an hour in westminster. and also catonsville. clarksburg coming in at 53. 48 in edgewood and kent island almost 50-mile an hour wind gusts there. and over 50 in cambridge coming in at 52 and also goldsboro.

so this will be the story as we go throughout the day. yesterday it was the rain. today we're going to be dealing with the windy conditions and then by tomorrow, well, we'll talk about snow. so this is the front that came through and it's out of here we're going to have high pressure build in briefly but look what's already moving into pennsylvania. and even sliding down along the mountains so they already have a wind -- actually they already have a winter weather advisory there because they could be seeing about 3 inches of snow. through tomorrow morning the cold front will begin to work its way in here behind that very cold and we have the chance for some snow across the area as well. so we look at abc2's most accurate future trend and there's the snow coming in by tomorrow morning. gets out of here very quickly. no real accumulations with that. the hyperrer local forecast brings the temperatures falling for today. this is the seven day forecast for you as we have another chance for some snow moving into the picture by the end of the weekend. let's get a check now of the abc2 timesaver traffic with lauren cook.

good morning. good morning lynette. well, we have it all this morning. we have accidents, flooding, high winds. so be extra careful as you head out in baltimore county we are dealing with a crash and flooding in windsor mill right on dogwood road at hollow field road and also reported on ridge road. be careful in that area. and in baltimore we have a crash right on pulaski highway at crescent street. and traffic is really starting to pick up on 95 in white marsh. the southbound lanes will be slow down to the beltway. the heavy winds they've actually caused a wind warning for the key bridge as well as the bay bridge. slow down as you do travel across them this morning. here's what 695 looks like. the northwest corner at old court road. there's a four minute delay right now as you travel the outer loop from 795 down to 70 and the average speed clocking in at just 30 miles per hour. up in hunt valley though a much different story on 83 at shawan road. we have some flooding in cockeysville and more on york
