four seconds of play. one last shutdown and it was time to celebrate. the much hyped harbaugh going to the older brother john ending in a congratulations and handshake between the two. they may not have gotten a lot of sleep last night but the players were wide awake. they tweeted out this picture of ray lewis holding on to that lombardi trophy for dear life. we learned more about their time in the big easy. >> they thought they were the lucky ones to get the first flight out of new orleans today but many were still feeling the effects of bourbon street when their red eye touched down this morning. even the sound of the bags hitting the carousel, the sleep deprived ravens got an early

flight home. >> i got an early flight. i thought i was making out well. now i feel groggy. >> reporter: millions watched them on tv but they got a glimpse of it on the streets of new orleans. >> it was an amazing experience, walking up bourbon street with thousands of clanting ravens -- chanting ravens fans. the town painted itself purple for us. >> reporter: but they said while the players battled on the field, they faced a different kind of competition in the stapsd -- stands, simply because they were ravens fans. >> we were surprised to see 49ers fans there. prior to there were only ravens fans. >> that's the difference between watching it at the super bowl

abc2news.com/ravens. all right. weather wise, let's get one last look at the big easy, superdome. ugly day as the ravens keep flying out. it's in the 60s there, in the 30s here. 31 in stevensville. at freezing in cambridge, cold stuff out there. it's going to be a very frigid night. that sets the stage for some snow to stick. we see the clouds thickening up and a band of light snow moving out of the west. this will arrive -- in about three to four hours we'll pick up some snow and it will last in the overnight period. that's going to make for slick roads. the rest of the evening clouds increasing. we'll have much more on how things will develop overnight and into the rest of the week. that's all coming up. it is the story that we

broke this afternoon on abc2news.com as video captured the brutal beating of a disabled man by his caregiver. it happened friday in a klum ja group -- columbia group comb -- home. >> reporter: it show as disabled man being beaten by a woman paid to take care of him. this video, which we have blurred to conceal the identity of the victim, was originally posted to youtube and sent to us this. shows a woman savagely beating a disabled man under her care in columbia. the man said she attacked, spitting at her. the man was also beaten by another person. the woman repeatedly slapped him in the face. it was sent to the head of

if your travels take you in this direction, realize the roads could be getting a little powdered. it doesn't take much to get a flash freeze going. with these types of air temperatures, which have been generally above freezing, look north and west. there's our main snow that will come in the baltimore area later tonight. it will be after the evening commute but also before your morning commute. there will be a coating to a half an inch. that will create potential flash freeze problems. sob careful if you're out there tonight. looks like we have a couple different maps. air temps are cold, very frigid. as we take a look at the current conditions, 34 degrees right now. the dew point is 15. so it is dry. it is cold and it is breezy. some weather across the hear in our state today and a mixture of cameras, deep creek lake, look at this. this is the snow that's invading the western edge of the state, a

little bit of snow shower action. we get an idea of a burst of snow. you do see a coating still on the field out there, so, yes, absolutely a bit of a snowy scenario. winds from the south and the west. it's creating a wind chill in the upper 20s. it's been a cold, cold february day. it will continue to be a very cold night. tomorrow temperatures may warm up just a little bit even though we'll have snow overnight. you can see what's coming our way, large band, southwestern pennsylvania into west virginia, reaching into the ohio valley. it does may peer that -- appear the peak time will come in 8:00 or 9:00 tonight. it will be getting out early tomorrow morning many then we're left with a partly to mostly cloudy day tomorrow and a brief chance for a snow shower before we clear the skies. we'll look for the sun to come

back mid-week to late week. for now it's going to be a cloudy and at times snowy scenario. we're down well below freezing. we struggle to get to 40. warm air south of us in virginia. i don't think it will move in over the next two days. we could see some relief. we look for milder air to edge its way. right now all eyes are on the clipper system as it does cross the ohio valleyed arriving around 8:00 or 9:00. snow showers, most of us got a half an inch of powder, light stuff. you can sweep it off the states. after that slick start potentially from the packed light coating, mostly cloudy. we get to 40 or so. we'll be in the mid-30s, so dress warm. this will be a cold one in baltimore. tomorrow 28 as clouds thicken

up. could see a few more showers late tonight and conditions actually moderating a little bit. temperatures back in the 40s, anyway. that's better than the 30s and it looks like our next system coming in on friday will actually have enough warm air. it will be primarily a rain threat on friday, milder as we go into the second half of the weekend. a little bit of everything. the snow overnight will be long gone. >> all right. thanks a lot. we have some breaking news on that hostage situation in alabama that we've been following for several days now. the abc station near midland, alabama said the standoff ended within the last two hours and the 5-year-old boy who had been held hostage in a bunker was safe. there were two loud bangs heard from the home of jimmy lee

dykes. he had been holding the boy hostage for several days after grabbing him off a school bus and shooting the bus driver last week. the coroner said dikes is dead -- dykes is dead but the boy is safe. now to the investigation of a navy seal killed by a man he was trying to mentor. officials are still trying to piece together what led up to the shooting. >> reporter: 25-year-old marine eddie ray routh was charged with murder in the death of chris kyle. authorities are working to determine the motive. kyle was one of the most skilled snipers in u.s. history. he once shot a target more than a mile away. a highly decorated navy seal,

seven medals. kyle also knew the difficulties service members faced when they came home. >> you don't have an identity. >> reporter: so he dedicated himself to helping returning vets who suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder. >> chris had a difficult time tran sessioning himself. i think that's a big reason why he cared so much. >> reporter: police believe kyle was trying to help ross at the gun range -- help routh at the gun range. >> some type of therapy. >> reporter: over the last diagnosis cade over 70,000 service members have been diagnosed with ptsd. >> was constantly feeling nervous. constantly felt like something bad would happen. >> reporter: it's still too soon

to say if ptsd was involved in the murder. >> an average of one american soldier died from suicide every day last year according to new statistics out from the pentagon. the 325 deaths set a new record. the army officials said the number exceeded those in afghanistan during the same period. the grandstand of a county fairground goes up in fire but this was no accident. why the city decided to burn it to the ground. what are the odds of getting this to win a game right after falling down. we'll hear from the high schooler who made that unlikely buzzer beater.

a fire torches a grandstand in austin, minnesota. it was used as a training session for firefighters. the department said burning down the stand will save the city $30,000 in removal costs. a football a nat tech in california turned his lawn into a mini super bowl stadium. check it out. it looks like the field from the super bowl. they have a ravens end zone and a niners end zone and the nfl logos. the man who created it said it took about 15 hours and his neighbors supports his stadium work but i'm sure they hope it's gone today. a high school basketball player in l.a. hits an improbable shot.
