barnes case. what's the family's reaction? >> reporter: after nearly two weeks, the verdict came and it came quick. guilty for the murder of phylicia barnes. the day after his 29th birthday, michael johnson walked out of courthouse east facing up to 30 years in prison, now convicted for the second-degree murder of phylicia barnes. >> justice is served. phylicia can sleep, a much bet per place. we will hold on, pull our pieces together and keep moving on. >> reporter: but before they move on they reflect. prayers answered, closure in hand, phylicia's mother still trying to process the end.

in prison. coming up at six we'll hear from the defense and the prosecution. for now we're live in downtown baltimore. >> any reaction from jurors tonight? >> reporter: no the jury was escorted out by bay live and decline -- bailiff and declined comment. in the midst of tuesday's super bowl celebration several ravens fans faced the menace of an unruly mob who threatened them for their seats at m&t bank stadium. >> reporter: the ravens expected 30,000 fans to show up at the stadium. they had to close the gates after 90,000 packed in. that set the stage for a dangerous confrontation. some of the earliest memories will be the ravens coming home

as super bowl champions. >> i wanted to be a part of it. >> reporter: but for this mother from perry hall, a chance to let her 7 and 12-year-old daughters witness historieded up jeopardizing their lives. standing room only and the dates closed off, john harbaugh addressed the crowd. but during his address in section 119, just one section removed from the fold where the ravens entered the stadium a mother of two was fighting off people who crashed gate c and intpt on taking -- intent on taking seats. >> i was physically fighting them off. they were yelling racial slurs, told us if we didn't move they who stab us. >> reporter: one man noticed it from the upper level.

>> they were climbing over the walls where the bleachers was. >> reporter: the mother of two will remain anonymous for her own safety. she said they had to push past the agrease -- aggressors and ultimately leaving the stadium without celebratingian thing except they escaped with their lives. >> i know people had a great time and memorable time. that's wonderful. i feel like this needs to be unheard. it was unsafe and the police were completely outnumbered. they couldn't have helped us if they tried and they did try. >> reporter: on facebook some people have offered the mother and her children tickets to future games while others blamed her from taking her daughter in the first place.

jeff hager, abc2 news. >> that's unfortunate. the problems weren't limited to the seating. when guards locked the doors, some fans decided to go up and over the fence at m&t bank stadium. several cell phones caught the video. people had already made it over the wall helping more people. security was able to get over there to stop the stream of fans. >> if it want for up and going over the gates, they were going through them. take a look at this. fans stormed the dates, overpowering security guards. some people ended up on the ground. there was pushing and shoving. you know, we weren't the only ones hearing about incidents. ray rice said he's getting so much information that he posted let me say i have received more than a few messages about adults

pushing, shoving kids to get seats, et cetera. that is unacceptable. you should be ashamed of yourself. he said don't let me meet you after finding out you're one of the ones who did this. police have identified the team stabbed to death yesterday afternoon a new blocks away from the victory parade. his name is dionte smith. police say they believe the victims knew their attackers. a 33-year-old man is in custody, accused of stabbing a pikesville woman in her apartment while two small children were in the home. it happened about 10:00 last night. police received a call about a domestic dispute in an

apartment. when the mrs. arrived they found the door was locked but someone was inside. >> they were able to get. we found the body of 33-year-old katie haigle inside. >> the suspect was found hours later walking along reisterstown road. police did not release his name other than saying he was an acquaintance of the victim. police arrested 2345 -- 25-year-old justin beaumont on monday after slipping into a high school. he was only charged with trespassing but because of statements he made about attending the school, being bullied and his background police got a search warrant for his home. once there, they found several assault style weapons. police took them for safe keeping while the investigation continues. beaumont is undergoing medical

treatment and evaluations. it appears he owned the weapons legally. >> a man was arrested for shooting two teens. garfield park the third was arrested. the victims had gone to the park to buy marijuana where they were shot. smith is being held waiting for a bond review. new video tonight out of frederick where an armed robbery on south market was all caught on surveillance video. police say the man used per spray during the robbery. frederick police are asking people with information to call 301-600-tips. weather wise pretty quiet. some passing clouds at times but we did have decent sunshine.

in fact, right now still at 40 in annapolis, upper marl marlboro. a chilly breeze. as we go through day brairks the upper 20s. a storm system inbound. we'll talk much more about that in minutes. around the nation tonight two young children and a woman were killed and another child critically wounded in a shooting in a house near denver. at this point police think this was an isolated case. they don't have a shooter on the loose they're concerned b the neighbor where it happened was in an industrial area surrounded by a bunch of warehouses. one of the neighbors said the house was fixed up and saw a family of five move in about six months ago. more details coming out of alabama where ethan, the boy who

was held hostage, is safe. he was held hostage at the more si of a man who has already been killed. ethan's captor, jimmy lee dykes was killed during the raid. dykes fired on agents first. >> in split second flash bang, shoot before mr. dykes would have an opportunity to react. >> since the raid they found two bombs at that site. as many as six people are dead in a van crash in texas. they were carrying possible illegal immigrants when this crashed. according to someone who lives near the ranch, some of the survivors were banging on the door pleading for help. when you find out you're about to bring another person into the world, you do everything you can to keep them safe. this may be the toughest of all.

alzheimer's disease is on the rise. a new study projections cases will nearly triple in the next 40 years. researchers said there were more than 5 million people living with alzheimer's in 2010 and expect it to grow to 20 million by 2050. >> these are the baby boomers. they're going to have these conditions and it will be a big burden to them, to their spouses, to their families, to society overall. >> researchers say healthcare providers should start preparing for the increase and baby berms should take precautions to slow the development of alzheimer's disease. all right. a look at the weather in the inner harbor. it is clear. it is 41 degrees milder than the weather we've seen. they had a few gusts of 20. winds are at the west at 13

eastern half of the state. it does appear we'll get all rain. there could be a brief winter shot on the back side of it late friday. to the west you see the storm forming headed our way. texas low can be a big powerful east coast storm. northern energy. as it makes its run up the east coast, the end result will be decent snow from new york city northward into new england, boston. if your travels take you in that direction, man, i was going to drive up to boston, you may want to revisit those plans. here just rain and wind primarily but, again, some snow showers late friday night on the back side. tonight we're down to 26 degrees, mostly clear, definitely a cold night on the way. it takes awhile to get to the 20s. tomorrow 40 degrees, most of the day in the 30s with clouds on

the increase and east wind kicking in down to 34, rain, plus sleet. all this develops late. sleet primarily frederick and hagerstown. on the front edge of that rain maker on friday and wind maker. the main winter weather will be to states to our north. friday that's when weather goes downhill. a new winter showers friday night and maybe early saturday morning. windy conditions both friday and saturday. temperatures will slowly begin to rebound into the day on sunday as we go into the mid-40s. we could be back in the low 50s to start off next week although that may not hold up. looks like a mild per start. there's the setup, kelly. this is a large storm on friday, no question but it will impact you more sew if you have travel plan -- so if you have travel plans to the north, new york. avoid where the any-- yankees

caught on camera, one person was killed and a bakery truck left dangling over the interstate in florida. it took crews about 90 minutes to secure the truck and drag it back on to the road. a passenger pinned inside died on the scene. the driver was rescued and taken to the hospital. a canoe ride took a frightening turn. a humpback whale crashed into

we start out with an update. jurors convicted michael johnson for killing phylicia barnes. barnes was a 16-year-old teenager visiting her sister in baltimore when she disappeared. her body was found months later near the conowingo dam. barnes' family said justice was served. johnson will spend 30 years behind bars. a mother took her daughters to the ravens celebration yesterday at m&t bank stadium.

she said aggressive fans pushed her into their section, trampling children. the mother left early due to safety concerns. a pikesville woman was found dead, stabbed to death with two small children inside. a 33-year-old man is in custody. he was found after a tactical unit entered the apartment and found him walking along reisterstown road. police are still investigating. just a few clouds at times today. depends on where you were, sunny all day. there were times of clouds. temperatures pretty mild for february, low 40s, upper 30s now. not a lot of wind. still a breezy cold period. clouds increase when you wake up. they will start to increase. you'll see a little sun. then we'll cloud up. the next weather maker getting
