this tuesday morning. thanks for joining us. people in the northeast right now still cleaning up from last weekend's blizzard and some of the places still dealing with 3 feet of snow. >> 3 feet. look at the video out of hartford connecticut. this is time-lapse video showing how much fell from 4 p.m. friday and 9 a.m. sunday morning. watch as it goes. we will let it develop a little more because you see i guess that's a ruler human size ruler on the clock. and keeps going up and up and up and up. >> in such a short period manyof time. >> we are he can-- period of time. >> we are expected to get some weather later on here's lynette charles. >> not a whole lot. we will have the wind. that's the big story for today. but in terms of precip talking about rain and snow, we are not going to see any of that. marled's most powerful radar dry. and -- maryland's most powerful radar is dry right now. no need to take the snow boots.

temperatures at 43 in towson. 41 chestertown. davidsonville at 45. and those wind will be out of the west today. and they will really pick up. we will have gusts up to 30 miles an hour. be prepared for that. if today is your trash day you will want to lock down the trash cans pull them in the garage if you can because they are going to be all over the place. now we are expecting some change in the weather as we go into tomorrow. i will detail more of that coming up but we have the chance for rain and snow in the peckture so be prepared for that. i will talk -- picture so be prepared for that. i will talk about that and tell you when it will come in here. as we planned, you are waking up around 7:00 this morning. temperatures coming in at 39 degrees. we are not going to get rid of the wind for today. it's going to wake up breezy and we will stay breezy going through the evening. by around 10 this morning, 44 degrees and lunchtime coming in at 46. the one thing that doesn't change as we go throughout the day is the fact we will have much more sunshine in here than we had yesterday. lunchtime temperatures of 46 degrees. and that high temperature

coming in at 49. but remember with the wind out of the west we will feel more like we are in the low 40s so dress accordingly. let's check the abc2 timesaver traffic with lauren cook. >> reporter: we have problems in howard county. we are dealing with a crash right now here along the westbound lanes of route 32 at columbia pike. only one lane getting by at this time. so you will want to avoid the area if at all pole. more problems on interstate 70 where there's a crash westbound just past route 32. and if you are traveling on 695, it's a much different story. everything is moving right along here at old court road. nothing to get in your way as you travel the outer loop from 795 all the way down to 95. you're looking at normal drive time of 11 minutes and as we look at the other abc2 timesaver traffic drive times the east side of the beltway will be delay free traveling the outer loop from 95 up to 83. that stretch will take you 11 minutes and no concerns right now on 95 in white marsh. 14 minutes right now traveling

southbound from the beltway into the city. that's a look at your morning commute. now over to you. baltimore's mayor is calling for major changes to keep the city on track financially. and in the state of the city address yesterday mayor stephanie rawlings-bleak outlined a number of proposal that will affect everyone. linda so is live with the details and there is is a tall order -- there is a tall order of work because the mayor has to keep the city from going broke especially after the report said it could happen in ten years. >> reporter: right. talking about how the city will go into financial ruin if major changes are not made. one the changes that might affect everyone is a fee for trash removal. mayor hopes to make cuts in several areas with the goal of using those savings to lower the city's property taxes by 22 per. mayor rawlings-blake outlined the proposal during the state of the city address yesterday. her plan to cut property taxes can only happen if cuts are made in other areas. she hope the biggest savings will come from pension reform.

the mayor wants more city workers to contribute to the retirement plans sort of like a 401k. she wants to cut the work force by 10% over the next 10 years and demolish more vacant homes. the mayor is also calling on firefighters to work longer hours right now the only -- they only average 42 hours a week. >> we must work with our fire unions to negotiate a new schedule. with segly higher pay to reduce an efficiencies and prevent the constant threat of firehouse closures. >> reporter: the president of the city firefighters union says working longer hours would be detrimental to the work force. if any changes were to be made to the workweek, those the city would have to negotiate that with the firefighters union. we are live at city hall linda so, abc2 news. a big day in the nation's capital. president obama is getting ready to address the nation. it will be his first state of the union of his second term. the president is expected to

talk about job creation immigration reform and reducing gun violence. white house officials say that he will also highlight a mix of old and new policies aimed at helping middle class. we want to invite you to join us as the president addresss congress and the country with the state of the anion. join our team coverage starting at 9. abc will have live reports from washington. and before tonight's state of the union the senate armed services committee will vote on chuck hagueel's nomination for desense secretary. despite a contentious nomination hearing the former repb can senator from nebraska -- republican senator from nebraskais expected to win nomination. he has come under fire for comments he made on israel and opposing sanctions for iran. the joint chiefs of staff will be on capitol hill testifying. he is expected to talk about the effects of sequestration. this was set as mandatory budget cuts with the defense and other areas scheduled to go into effect on march 1st.

20 minutes away from 6. we are following breaking news out of pg county police have been at the scene since one at what they are calling a death investigation in college park. p-g county police just tweeted out this incident appears to be a murder-suicide. it happened in the 8700 block of 36th avenue around one this morning. police are saying that the suspects were seen leaving in taned odyssey. if it's a murder-suicide what is the situation with the suspects? we are trying to figure that out for you as soon as we get videoinformation and we will bring it to you on the air online through twitter or facebook. stay with us. again police are on a possible murder-suicide situation in college park. we will bring you the information as it becomes available. right now people living in

bridgeport connecticut are not going anywhere for any time soon because the city won't start removing the snow from all the side streets until later on this week which means people are stuck inside the homes. the mayor there says that they are on more than 100 roads that are just impassable and says because people left the cars in the road they are having a tough time clearing out the streets. we know what that's like from the blizzard three years ago. the equipment from the road can't keep up and so tech bring in ones from other states and residents say this is frustrating. and then there's the problem of getting kids back to school. next week is the february break. so the superintendent has asked the teachers union to take that break away so the kid won't have to miss anymore class. time for a check of the forecast. that is bad when you see it enough you know seeing that but going back a little ways when you saw the time-lapse video of seeing how much snow fell in a short period of time. >> i know. and it gives you perspective as to what they are dealing with. and lynette we know what that is like when they are trying to plow the streets and cars are

parked on them and we have that problem in baltimore. >> it's mess and we won't be dealing with that as of now. but you know, we have lots of february lots of winter to go. so we will see how it pans out for us. but in the meantime, today, we are dealing with windy conditions across the area. we do have the wind out of the west at about 8 miles an hour in baltimore more of the same in easton. heading to dc15 there and 25 in hagerstown and 12 in york. and these are your sustained winds as we go throughout the day. we will have gusts up to about 30 miles an hour. as we head the kid to school this is what they can expect in terms of temperatures. that's the silver lining if you don't like the real cold temperatures. 39 this morning and going into the afternoon temperatures coming in right around 49. the wind will be out there this morning. and also this afternoon. we will be out there this morning as we will get sunshine in here. yesterday we were socked in with plenty of cloud cover and some unsettled weather. that won't be the case today. that will be the calm before the storm moves in as we head into tomorrow. now speak of that, let's show
