worker charged with having sex with a 15-year-old student. >> let's get to it. we will start off with breaking news. a baltimore police train e was shot during a training exercise. we've been waiting on this news conference since 3, 4:00 this afternoon. any idea on what the holdup is? >> reporter: they don't want to identify the trainee until after his family arrives. that could be several hours from now. we're told by the police spokes man that they're still working on this. we showed you video. baltimore county police on scene. state police are handling the investigation. as for what kind of training was happening at rosewood state hospital, a spokesperson said

he's not sure if the question will be answered at the crves. the victim who was shot at rosewood was flown immediately to thok trauma and is being worked on as we speak. we see police officers coming in and out in about four hours. now commissioner batts is here at shock trauma. he arrived just after 3:00 as did plaque black. both of them as --s did well as -- mayor stephanie rawlings-blake. they have not given a firm time. they want to know what was happening at this facility which was not known as a training facility. christian schaefer is out here and will be monitoring it and bring you the latest coming up

at 11. for now, we're live in baltimore. >> we continue to follow the breaking news. a student shot his roommate before killing himself. >> we go live outside the home. >> reporter: an awful day in college park. this house on 36th street, police say a student who many say was bril yent killed himself. before he did that he wounded one roommate and killed another. here's what happened. it all started just after 1:00 in this house on 36th street. 23-year-old dayvon maurice green set a small fire in the back of the house. when his roommates came outside they talked with green.

when they went to get water, green pulled a handgun and opened fire. one roommate ran the other, 23-year-old graduate stad stephen rane was shot dead and green turned the gun on himself. the off campus incident has stunned this community. >> i do not know if this particular individual, mr. green had mental illness issues but we have increased the number of psychologists and other mental health people. now prince george's county police said they found a bag that had another semiautomatic handgun, a baseball bat and a

machete inside. another student who was shot is expected to be okay. we'll have more coming up at 11. reporting live in college park, roosevelt leftwich. now to the reaction and there is plenty. many university of maryland college students called that area of the city home. at 1:00 this morning that was all shattered. brian kuebler pieces through -- the story together. >> reporter: university of maryland senior paul rowe could only tell us what he heard. >> we heard about 10 shots fired. we couldn't decide if it was fire crackers or gunshots. figured if it was fire crackers we'll find out later. if it's gun shots, we should really stay inside. >> reporter: what rowe heard, the next door neighbor saw. one of the bullets shattered the

window of her suv, another into her home. her friend told her how close of a call that was. >> came home about 12:30 and was getting ready for bed. by the time she get back to her bedroom heard the shots and it came right through the kitchen window. >> reporter: the evidence of what happened outside this off campus house is still visible. there's in the one but three places where the shooter dayvon green set fire as some sort of distraction. there were paramedic gloves. but there is more left in this tragic wake, like the imprint on next door neighbor and graduate student chip cobb, still written clearly on his face as he gives his account of what happened last night. >> it sounded like what gunfire would sound like.

i ducked in the corner and basically curled up into a ball behind the corner where my closet sticks out from the wall and waited for gunfire to stop. >> reporter: when this did, cobb found the fires in the backyard and the body of 22-year-old stephen rane on the front porch, seeing but not quite believing. >> it's kind of hard to know what to make of someone getting to a point, i guess and from what i understand from the news reports, he thought it -- he decided to take his life and others. >> reporter: hard to make sense of this, but now forced to live with this. in college park, brian kuebler, abc2 news. >> now dayvon green's parents said he had a mental illness.

weather. i think you'll find temperatures through the middle part of the day. as clouds increase you'll reach the mid-40s at least in the baltimore city area. as you go further north up into the county, as we go north, temperatures will push 40s way up in hunt valley. late day showers, rain showers and then changing over to rain mixed with snow and eventually snow showers. here we go, clear across maryland for the moment. let's give you the timing on this system. clouds increase through the dray tomorrow. this is 2:00. stop it right here. looks like mainly a surge of rain, cold rain coming up with some snow west of maryland. as we work into your evening commute you'll see wet snow begin to come down and then this finishes late tomorrow night near midnight. remember, daytime 40 or warmer.

it will get to the 50s. the ground is warm. this stuff will not stick that well. there will be slushy coatings especially on unpaved surfaces. cold pair will get in here but for now we're in that mild pattern. baltimore is the northern edge of that surge. the closest rain is in the tennessee valley. the main storm center in eastern texas. you can see this pulling in cold air. the whole thing coming our way through the day tomorrow. we'll show you the big pattern, moving in tomorrow as cold rain and wintry showers. then things blow out. behind this just dry conditions, maybe slick spots thursday morning but behind it a dry looking thursday. friday looks great but this clipper system will bring us mainly rain showers friday night into early saturday.
