assigned as the instructor. tuesday kern was training -- was the training instructor working with about 50 trainees at the abandoned rosewood facility. it is standard top use simunitions. these shoot paints pellets. we know now that did not happen as kern issued his firearm, striking a trainee in the forehead. this is under criminal investigation. maryland state police is the lead agency but it's also being looked into by the professional and accountability bureau. anthony batts requested a full investigation by the training commission. we're told that process started this morning with members of the commission on site early this morning. brian kuebler, abc2 news.

training by the police department is exriewtion in keeping officers sharp. every year officers trained to upgrade to maintain their skills. >> one of the places is rosewood, but why there? rosie? >> reporter: why proswood, indeed. the question should not be why use this place but actually it's perfect to hone the skills of officers. you'll only find private security cruising around the site which was closed in july of 2009. we're talking about classrooms, offices, apartments and the homes. this is perfect for the police to use as they figure out different training scenarios. many have used it including baltimore county police. the police spokeswoman said officers have done training on the site but most of the time they use the aberdeen proving ground, lots of buildings, lots of space but on any of their trainings they do not use any

got more than 60 crashes in two hours. >> don harrison has more on what led to many of the crashes, including one that was deadly. >> reporter: the only people busier than tow truck drivers this morning were police and paramedics. >> we had a lot of accidents because of the weather. may have been expected. couple that with rush hour, it made for a treacherous right in for a lot of people. we had a few accidents. >> reporter: police may have between 6:00 and 8:00 this morning they got calls for more than 60 crashes and at least three of them involved their own. >> everybody was subject to treacherous conditions. >> reporter: the worst of the crash was this fatal collision. an 18-year-old woman was ejected from her car when she lost cell an -- control and ran into a cement truck. many had roadblocks like this so the police and paramedic cost

burns. the woman was taken to the bayview burn center. both boys were taken to hopkins. sadly, smoke alarms were not operating. two other people got out safely. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. you can get the breaking news by signing up at our website. you can also fouls at abc2 news. continuing coverage at this hour of two cases where a man exposed himself to girls in columbia. howard county police arrested 49-year-old steven lair last night and charged him with indecent exposure for flashing a group of girls in the columbia mall in january. police released this surveillance picture of lair a couple weeks ago and said he was caught doing the same thing to an employee of the mall's housekeeping staff last night. lair was released after posting

a $7500 bond. police are investigating the possibility that he exposed himself to two girls just days ago. all right. a baltimore dentist faces charges for practicing without lap license. >> he's also the focus of an abc2 investigation. joce sterman is in northwest baltimore to explain. >> reporter: well, the doctor has been without lap license since tween. he is accused of acting as a done ties anyway and the state's attorney's office is far from his only problem. tonight at 11, we'll explain why press and hundreds of other doctors and dentists are on the radar of the federal government. the government calls them dead beats because they haven't paid back tens of thousands of dollars loaned by the government even though they graduated

this valentine's evening. dress extremely warm. as we look at the numbers, you can see we're not mid-40s for the next hour or so. not all that bad. clear up and down the mid-atlantic. we're in a nice dry slot of weather. things will begin to change as we work into friday afternoon and especially overnight into saturday morning. that's when we'll have a question mark with exactly what the weather will do for that very first part of the weekend. you see what happens as we move into the day tomorrow. we're generally sunny early on. area of low pressure in the tennessee valley tough to make out and coastal energy. these two areas will merge as we go into late tomorrow night into early saturday morning. the convergence of these two systems coming together late tomorrow night and early saturday and making its run up the coast it's possible we'll get wraparound wintry showers as

early as midday saturday or saturday afternoon. how much precipitation we'll see -- tomorrow will be a very warm day as we stay in the dry spot. low 50s on the board. any winter weather will not have a lot of success sticking. we can expect a slushy coating by early saturday. snow showers could linger by mid-saturday. a little bit of a winter wild card. on the board just this one clipper system making its way through michigan. this is relatively light snow. this will track to the east but all eyes on this secondary system. low pressure over the tennessee valley, ultimately two different scenarios. this phases up late and the bulkheads out to sea. it would strengthening earlier. that would mean more wrap around

a brawl breaks out at a roller skating rink and ends up with a security guard being assaulted. the rink's manager said a security guard ran over to break up a fight between a woman and a teenage girl. police said that's when a group of four to five attacked the guard. >> they all jumped on them and then the rest of the staff that was there, broke that up. as soon as they pulled everybody off of everybody, they all ran off the door. >> luckily, the security guard was in the injured but police are trying to track down the people responsible. a sinkhole in southern ja jarks heavy rain -- georgia, heavy rains caused flooding in albany. it caused a sink hole in the park. it followed -- swallowed up trees and part of a fence. >> and the promise of putting in
