a severn neighborhood quite mourning the loss of a local student stabbed to death. looking for fakes. the popular north point flea market raided over the weekend. >> and the blade runner, no more races as he faces a charge of murdering his girlfriend. first, what neighbors up north are dealing with. this is provincetown, massachusetts. whoa. hit by the northeast breeze of a week ago and now digging out again. we could be seeing a few flurries in our area. chief meteorologist wyett everhart is in the abc 2 most accurate weather center tonight. >> we've been seeing the flurries all afternoon. really snow showers. you get occasional bursts.

long lake-effect snow streamers outs of the great lakes coming down through maryland this afternoon. unusual but it's a powerful northwest wind helping to drag down this lake-effect snows. look how cold it is now, upper 20s, we never got above freezing today in west baltimore. the wind gusts around 35 making for a brutal wind chill in the teens. this large storm we just showed you the video of still blowing out to sea. you can see the circulation off boston but the wrap-around winds dragging in the snow showers to maryland, we're going to keep the cold winds around tonight. more snow showers to talk about. how things will clear out tomorrow. then we have additional chance for wintry weather as we go out of presidentsgpday into your tuesday morning coming up. home coming on the shore ends deadly. this is our developing story. from the campus of the university of maryland eastern shore in salisbury. 21-year-old edmund sinclair was stabbed to death last night he grew up in the area. his family lives in severn. state police say he was stabbed while sitting with his brother and another person in a honda

driven by sinclair's girlfriend. police say sinclair was the target after hearing of an earlier fight. the university had a quick response. saying their prayers go out to the family and all his friends. we'll continue to follow this story at 11:00. cheryl conner speaks with the victim's brother who was in the car when he was killed. for the latest on this developing story stay tuned to abc2, you can also follow cheryl conner on twitter. another flea market bust. a few months ago the patapsco flea market. yesterday the battle of north point. more than a dozen vendors accused of selling fake stuff. all shoppers were told to leave yesterday. police said they were looking for cd's, dvd's, electronics, fake polo and more. some shoppers say they even saw ravens merchandise taken away. it will take time for police to go through the evidence and make their charges.

he was a hero in south africa, the blade runner, now accused of murder and may never race again. a south african tv channel is defending its decision to air a reality show featurering his now dead girlfriend. live from south africa with the details. expwhrnd stunned south africans watched reeva come back to life saturday. appearing here in the first episode of "tropic island treasure." she was killed valentine's day, her boyfriend, oscar pistorius is charged with her murder. he remains inside a south africa prison tonight. >> as you can imagine, he's numb with shock and grief. and total pain. >> reporter: steenkamp was discovered in a pool of blood in his home.

police say she was shot four times with a pistol they recovered from inside the house. the south african newspaper reports the first neighbor on the scene after the shooting found pistorius performing cpr on her. prosecutors dismiss the theory that he mistook his girlfriend for an intruder and have charged him with pre-med tornado murder -- premeditated murder punishable by life in prison. south africans are still trying to make sense of the tragedy. >> i feel so sorry for both families. >> reporter: a sorrow that will be felt watching the girl in her tv series. her family asked the show air as planned. producers included a special tribute. >> the real reeva was kind and sweet. you can see the girl we loved. >> abc news, pretoria, south africa. >> some south africans believe airing the show exploits her death.

and many are calling for the profits to go towards gender violence groups. a mother says she and her 19-month-old son were the victims of a verbal and physical attack by a fellow passenger on an airplane. jessica bennet says 60-year-old "ricki" hunley began complaining as soon as the flight began and became increasingly belligerent when her baby started crying. then she said he lashed out and started getting physical. >> he fell on my face, his mouth was in my ear and said it again. he was in my face, i pushed him away. >> the baby was slapped near the eye causing him to bleed. a criminal complaint was called for simple assault. a nurse found a note from a new dad said no african-american nurse to take care of baby. the nurse is now suing. according to the court documents the nurse was calling

pole position at the daytona 500. it's set for next sunday. patrick went out in eighth place today and then ripped it up going 196 miles per hour. jeff gordon was the only one who would come back close but patrick now in the pole position. >> it's intense. emotional. you're looking at the junior olympic fencing championships here in baltimore. the athletes are as young as 11. they are using what appears to be a sharp weapon to fight an opponent but no scars, no blood. the competitors say they are often on the fence with their emotions during a match. it's physical. >> it's a lot of lungeing, very deep, emotions, a lot of moving the blade. if you move the blade around like that you have to have really good forearm muscles. so they do lots of push-ups and sit-ups.

day, chilly but otherwise quiet. then as we go beyond presidents' day, overnight into tuesday morning new line pushing in out of the west. this could create a wintry mix of ice and freezing rain toward daybreak tuesday. tuesday morning commute, somewhat in question now. temperatures will actually warm through the day on tuesday and melt off anything that happens but áq2ñit's this system coming out of the country's mid-section, developing toward presidents' day but arriving early tuesday morning. again initially as an icy mix. then changing over to rain into the mid-part of the day. so tuesday morning now a very important commute that we're going to be keeping an eye on. watch for that. anyway, tomorrow another cold day. stuck in the 30s through your presidents' day. as we go into tuesday another day where we're going to be rather cold, at least early on when that wave of precipitation hits. again this powerhouse coastal storm really put down across new england where they don't need more snow but they are digging out again.

you've heard the saying our children are our future. well, an important element in that is ' a good quality education. joining me today, dr. barbara mcgraw edmondson, the superintendent of catholic schools. we have almost 70 very wonderful catholic schools here in the maryland area. let's talk about a catholic educa&tsñ ? absolutely. we have 69 schools, close to 70 as you said in the archdiocese of baltimore. 27,000 students catholic education has always been -- has a legacy of academic excellence. so when children come to school, catholic school not only do they learn to read and write and math and science and

biology and all that, but the person, the person they are called to be. >> you really nurture the students. all their different qualities, you can bring that out. tell me about the community service that they do. that is also a very important part. >> sure. in many schools, but in catholic schools in particular what we want are our students to understand they are called to serve others, love others and by loving others to serve them. our students from pre-k, kindergarten, to is it 12th grade are active in community service. everything from actually coming down and working to a soup kitchen to collecting things ujt with the hurricane sandy, i can tell ):piyou from our elementar school, individual schools responded quickly to the schools up in new york and new jersey but collectively students were out of uniform but you know catholic schools are usually in uniform.

>> i know that. >> i bring that to the fore because the little ones can participate as well. >> it's a good process for them to learn and grow as well. i know my son is at loyola, has a community service project too next week. it's really good. you all have an excellent report card as well. you want to talk about that? >> we do. our catholic schools, graduation rate for high school students is 99%. of those graduates 98% of them go to college or accept into colleges and universities. with 234 million dollars in scholarships just last year with the class of 2012. our elementary school and middle schools are outside -- our students are always in the top. underscoring the excellent education, the education of the whole person. >> another thing about that, not only the wonderful graduation rate and of course

college attendance but after college, almost 100% continue to get back to the -- give back to the community. >> absolutely. research shows that students who attend catholic schools, catholic elementary schools, high schools, even universities go on to be highly responsible citizens. very active in church, in communities, in charities. take leadership positions across the nation. so we are very proud of our graduates because not only of what is happening while they are here but really reaching the goal because as adults, later parents and guarantees they continue to pass that legacy of service of commitment to the community, as well as to their own children, grandchildren. >> it's a great cycle. you had catholic school week. springtime around the corner, if people are looking into a catholic education, is this a
