of middle river, three people were shot. sherrie johnson is working on the story, she joins us live with new information. >> reporter: i got off phone with baltimore county police officers, this is an active investigation. three people were shot in the 2100 block of eastern boulevard, that's in middle river, it's near martin state airport. one person has been confirmed dead by police officers. officers received a 911 call before midnight about shots fired. they found the victim's lying in a parking lot area, they were rushed to bay view medical center for treatment. one person died from gunshot wounds right now police do not have a suspect in this case. homicide detectives are investigating, they were on the scene for much of the morning, they have not released the identities of the victims. we don't know their identities or their ages. sherrie johnson, abc2 news.

happening today for example you own a dog you are going to want to know what lawmakers in annapolis have to say today. linda so is here to explain. what are they debating today? >> the house will debate a bill changing the law for dog owners. the law singles out pit bulls as dangerous, but lawmakers want to change that. the bill would declare dogs dangerous, meaning if someone is bitten by a dog of any breed, they could sue the dog's owner. the owner could defend themselves in cor. it would make it easier for renters to own pit bulls and other dogs. if the person can prove the lands lord should have known the dog was dangerous. >> if the owner doesn't take precautions, its can be a dangerous dog, regardless of breed. >> last year the house and senate couldn't agree on a bill which is why the court of appeals ruling stands singling

out the breed as dangerous. both sides think they have bills they can agree on. a committee has passed a version of the pit bull bill. talk to anybody who has had to do it, it is one of the hardest things taking the keys away from your parents. many see it as the final shot of independence. it's a tough thing to discuss. today, there will be tough talk about older drivers safety. it comes two years after a hopkins student was killed on his bike, by an elderly driver. nathan's parents will be talking to lawmakers about american for older drivers safety and what can be done to keep us safer. also today going to be talking about the gas taxes members of the house republican caucus will hold a press conference to discuss the reasons why maryland doesn't need a higher one. they are going to be at the house office building at 9:30 this morning to let people know about this.

a jury is set to be chosen today in the case of a woman accused of stabbing her baby. thomas is charged with attempted murder of her 8-month- old daughter. she snuck a knife in to a meeting with a social worker in april. we will let you know what happens in the courtroom today. also today the trial of a 15-year-old accused of shooting a classmate on the first day of school at perry hall high school starts today. a judge decided robert gladden can be tried as an adult. abc 2 will be in the courtroom following the case. follow us on twitter, search abc 2 news for the latest updates. we will keep you posted. opening arguments begin in jayson scott's trial, accused of murdering a mother and her daughter in 2009. scott is serving a 100 year sentence after going on a violent crime spree. investigators have been following the story from the

reached the pilot light causing a huge blast. the brother was seriously injured. both of them are in jail this morning. i would guess to say there goes they lottery winnings. two multimillion dollars water front homes went up in flames in an island in florida. you can see the thick black smoke, it took the firefighters 15 minutes to get to the scene. other firefighters arrived to help by boat and that is the only way they could get to the island. it took crews nearly fife hours to put out the -- five hours to put out the flames.

we have several accidents to tell you about, howard county, crash along the westbound lanes, route 175, another accident along the westbound lanes of route 32, old columbia road. interstate 70, nice and clear, 29 over to 695, a live look at the west side at baltimore national pike, traffic is picking up, no delays on the inner loop or outer loop. everything will remain clear on the east side of the beltway. an 11 minute ride on the outer loop, 95, all the way up to 83. if you are using 95 in white marsh, no conditions southbound from the beltway, all the way to downtown baltimore. that stretch will take you 14 minutes.
