this right now and i blame the weather. >> it was a good two days to kind of sit inside and get better because it was ugly out there and, lynette, we're hoping for a change. >> you're hoping for a change, well, you're going to get the change because it's cold this morning and also it's going to be very windy. that's going to be the story of the day. you'll hear me talking about the blustery conditions all day long. temperatures right now coming in at 30 degrees in manchester. we're at 32 in timonium, 32 in eldersburg, 32 in fredrick, colombia coming in at 33. we're seeing more of the same at the airport. scwrop a is at -- joppa at 34 degrees. easton at 34 degrees right now. so this is the story of the day, maryland's most powerful radar has a few flurries on there, right? we see that blue? most of this is virga. it's not hitting the ground. it's evaporating before it's actually touching the ground. that's the story. we're also going to be planning our day. this is what it looks like through time, we wake up at 6:00, temperature very cold, 32 degrees, windy conditions, blustery conditions, you choose

a word, that's what it's going to be, as we head throughout the day. let's send it back over to megan and charley. this story has been developing now for days. we're talking about the investigation into a gynecologist found dead earlier this week of an apparent suicide. >> police say dr. nakita levy videotaped and took photographs of his patients and now the fbi is helping out in this case. they are going through his entire career. he was a gynecologist at johns hopkins for 25 years but was fired earlier this month after photography and video equipment were found along with images of patients. marquettea brown's 14-year-old daughter used to be a patient at the practice where dr. levy worked. brown says that levy was all too eager to treat her young daughter. >> i kept asking, well, who would be able to perform her gyn and he was coming through and overheard me talking to the receptionist, and he was, like, i'll do it, i'll do it. and i said, what's that? she said, oh, that's just dr.

levy, that's a little weird, never seeing a doctor so eager >> brown followed her instincts and took her daughter to another doctor. levy treated thousands of patients throughout his career and police say any one of them could be a victim. steven kelly says levy's patients should get legal advice right now. police are still investigating whether or not the recordings were shared and if they were, kelly says the victim's pool of legal rights will grow, they may consider access to levy's estate. >> there are new phone numbers to tell you about this morning. police are looking for mi information that you may have. so they've set up a tip line and that number is on your screen. it's 410-396-2269 and they've also partnered with the group turn around to offer counseling. that number is 443-279-0379. news time now 4:33. those responsible for killing a university of maryland eastern shore student remains on the loose. police hope surveillance video can help solve this case. take a look. police believe he may be

witnessing a murder from saturday night. 21-year-old edmond st. clair was stabbed to death on the u.n.e.m.s. campus. the school and crime stoppers are now offering rewards for up to $7000 for information that could lead to an arrest. annapolis police are calling him one of the city's most wanted men. take a look at your screen because today clarence eugene johnson, iii is expected to turn himself into authorities. he's been charged in connection with a double shooting that left one person dead. judicial notice johnson's attorney -- johnson's attorney says he wants to defend himself against the charges and clear his name. gun control will be fought in annapolis today. governor martin o'malley will host sarah brady at the statehouse. brady's husband was shot in the 1981 assassination attempt of ronald reagan. james brady was shot in the eye and left partially paralyzed. since then the couple has dedicated their lives to protecting others from gun violence. news time right now 4:34. 10 years, that's how much time the city has to turn things around in baltimore so we don't

go broke. >> that is a problem now. that means sacrifices need to be made across the board, so where will we begin? mayor stephanie rawlings blake will address that later this morning. >> sherree johnson is live in downtown baltimore with those details. sheree, who is the mayor talking to today? >>reporter: yes, later this morning, baltimore mayor stephanie rawlings blake will kick off a presentation to change to growth. she'll basically outline a 10- year financial plan and she plans to talk to hundreds of people and those folks include community groups, elected officials, also business and institutional leaders. she plans to map out details and information about the financial plan. the 10-year financial plan has several new initiatives, including rebalancing the way the city employees are compensated with more affordable, sustainable benefits and better wages. also investing in technology to increase productivity, also modernizing the city's vehicle fleet to reduce maintenance costs, also negotiating a new schedule for firefighters with higher pay to increase

efficiency and prevent future firehouse closures. she also wants to create a solid waste enterprise for trash, recycling and santation by collecting a user fee which is done in other maryland counties and use the savings to cut property taxes dollar for dollar. now, the mayor says eliminating the $750 million structural deficit protects basic city offices like police, fire, santation and recreation from the cuts. that whole presentation kicks off this morning at 10:30 a.m., and it kicks off at the walters art museum on north charles street. reporting live in federal hill, sherree johnson, abc 2 news. it is definitely a big day and exciting here at abc. >> this morning "good morning america" cohost rob i didn't know roberts will return -- robin roberts will return to the anchor desk. she's been recovering from a bone marrow trabs plant she needed to treat a rare blood disorder.

>> roberts has seen -- she's given updates on her condition and has had several inspirational stories for people from all over the country. we've seen her struggles, but one mother and daughter know firsthand what she's going through. that's because they went through it themselves. abc 2 news' jamie costello has their story. >> i was grateful to be able to help my mom. >> it was the most difficult thing i've ever done, but i wanted to live. >>reporter: kathy scott had leukemia, and her bone marrow donor daughter, kelly mullins. >> she gave me life and i gave it back. >>reporter: far away from the bright lights of broadway, these two are close enough to know what robin is going through. >> i would say pace yourself, listen to your body. there are days when you're going to feel very energetic and days when you still might not feel so energeticment >>reporter: robin is five months away from her transplant, kathleen nine. >> i learned that you really can't take life for granted. a lot of people, they don't

think that anything like this would happen to them. >> my mom and i i think we both used to think in the same way, we're anxious people, we're perfectionists, we would worry about the next day, doing our best, being the best. for me, i've actually kind of learned to sit back and enjoy the now each day and that's really a blessing. >>reporter: the blessing is that this retired court reporter and this former county teacher know what it's like to put their dukes up and fight to live. >> she battled with herself for a while about the decision because it is dangerous, you know, it's the cure, but it takes it down to the bare bones, you know, so she came to a place in her heart where she realized she did want to live and she was going to go through this. >> don't give up, research all you can, listen to your doctors, make your decisions, but don't give up. you are strong. >> that was jamie costello

that's some good news. we will dry out. we will have high pressure build in as we go throughout the day. but other than that we will start to see change in the forecast. so we zoom in, you have a few clouds around, this is not hitting the ground right now. but as we go through time, we'll have another chance of a wintery mix in the forecast. i'll talk more about that coming up. let's talk about the windy scenario as we go throughout the day because this is going to be the talk of the town, these winds out of the west at about 10 to 15 miles an hour, sustained, and we could get gusts today to about 30 miles an hour. so be prepared for that. we're at 14 now in baltimore, 14 in easton. let me switch over really quickly and show you some of these temperatures because we are cold this morning. you throw in those winds, we are feeling more like we're in the low 20s, into the teens in a lot of spots. let's send this back over to megan and charley. a huge explosion levels a restaurant and sends more than a dozen people to the hospital. >> yeah. what authorities say could have triggered that explosion, plus an update on those victims. and another day in court for track star oscar pistorius.

breaking news this morning out of kansas city. at least 14 people are hurt after a massive explosion at one of the most popular shopping areas. cadaver dogs are still on the scene searching for three people who are missing. authorities do believe that a gas explosion led to that fire. according to police, it appears that a car crashed into the gas main near a popular restaurant. they say that the crash triggered the explosion. the blast leveled the restaurant, sending broken glass and building materials everywhere. witnesses say the explosion was so loud and so powerful it could be felt at least a half a mile away. residents in the area were asked to evacuate. >> i heard the initial explosion, i was trying to weigh and the ground just shook. sounded like -- i mean, it was a giant explosion. >> before the blast, the fire

department and gas company were at the restaurant investigating complaints of a very strong smell of gas. patrons were asked to leave the building and officials say that may have helped keep the number of injuries down. firefighters are trying to put out a huge fire at a greenhouse operation in ohio. they're dealing with strong winds and freezing cold temperatures as they battle that fire. the fire is about a 30-miles southeast of cleveland at the green circle supplies plants to stores like home depot and wal- mart. this is huge. no injuries have been reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. she says it was accidental. prosecutors present a much different story. south african olympic sprinter oscar pistorius is in the courtroom this morning for day two of a bail hearing in the death of his girlfriend. charley is at the live desk with more on what's going on in the courtroom. and i know, charley, you've been monitoring this situation as it changes all morning long. what are prosecutors saying? >>reporter: you know, megan, we're finding out about this

story as it's happening half a world away in south africa. we're going to show you in just a few moments how you can do it. it's 11:45 now. that's where pistorius was in the building, he was brought in by police car and had a blanket covers his head completely. prosecutors is in day two saying what led to the chain of events for pistorius murdering his girlfriend, reeva steenkamp. prosecutors contend that's what they did yesterday, pistorius should be denied bail. pistorius' attorney said in a statement tuesday, the steenkamp killing was accidental and he was shot by -- and he shot her for fearing an intruder was in his house. this is a high crime area, even though it's a gated community, there's fear that security guards will take bribes in order to allow access into the gated homes. pistorius says that's why a. 9milimeter pistol is also under

his bed. he had been receiving death threats. prosecutors present a different side of the story. they say the couple had an argument on valentine's day, and she fled to the bathroom. prosecutors say pistorius took time to put on his prosthetic legs, walk 20 feet and open fire. forensics reports look at the angle and height of the bullets. that's the stuff you can find out now on twitter by following this man, david smith. his handle is smith in africa. he is a writer for the guard yean and he has been post -- guardian and he has been posting tweets by the minute from that courtroom. remember this, is a bail hearing because the prosecution says he needs to be held without bail, the defense is try to go get him out. some of the things have been the discovery of testosterone and syringes in pistorius' home. also they've been spending a lot of time this morning in testimony from investigators on

number. but these temperatures are above average. but it really doesn't matter this morning because we do have these winds gusting now close to 40 in risterstown, 32 in edgewood, 28 rock hall, easton 23, shadyside 20 and 25 in goldsboro, so you know what that means. we do have a wind chill out there. and this is what you need to dress for. so you need to dress for the teen that is you're feeling in reisterstown and the 20 in edgewood. we do have a cold morning on tap and the day is going to be cold as well. let's switch over to graphics and i can show you what's going on on the surface map. what we have here, we do have high pressure back towards the west and then we have low pressure heading off towards the north and east. this is that storm system that dropped the snow and the rain yesterday. the difference between the two, that's called a pressure gradeient. that's why we are dealing with the windy conditions for today and it's going to stick around for a while. we look at abc 2's most accurate futuretrend. this does go into motion for you. not a whole lot going on today, and that is the good news. we'll get sunshine in here in time as well, and just in time

year-old robert gladden, jr. could spend in prison for shooting a classmate back on the first day of school. also this morning, a repairman working in the middle of the street hit by a minivan, the whole thing caught on camera. we'll show you dramatic video and an update on how that man is doing this morning.

thanks for joining us this morning. some high profile cases are making headlines in maryland this morning. robert gladden has pleaded guilty to attempted murder. a judge accepted his plea and agreed to a maximum sentence of 40 years. the 15-year-old shot a classmate at perry hall high school on the first day of school. gladden is expected to be sentenced on monday. a man convicted of strangling 16-year-old felicia barnes wants a new trial. a motion filed by michael johnson's attorneys list a number of what they call improper actions taken by the prosecution, many of them involve the state's key witness, james mccray. mccray testified that he saw barnes' body in johnson's apartment, that johnson admitted to raping the teenager

and even asked how to get rid of that body. the motion claims that prosecutors improperly emphasized that testimony during their closing arguments. time now for five things to know on this wednesday morning, secretary of state john kerry will make his first major speech today. kerry is scheduled to take the stage at the university of virginia where he's going to focus on foreign policy. his address will be the first in a series he's principalling to give to audience -- he's planning to give to audiences. vice president joe biden will host a medal of valor ceremony this afternoon. the medal of valor ceremony and the awards are given to public safety officers and show courage in the attempts to save or protect others from harm. attorney general eric holder will speak at that ceremony. jesse jackson, is jr. is expected to plead guilty to cha prosecutors have filed felony charges against the former u.s. representative. he's accused of spending more than $750,000 in campaign cash, buying luxury items, memorabilia and other goods.

more warnings later today about the financial dangers of sequestration. the pentagon will warn congress that it will furlough many of its 800,000 civilian workers if the sequestration takes effect on march 1st. the president has asked congress to delay the automatic budget cuts. nld and coming up today, lance armstrong is expected to come clean under oath about his use of performance-enhancing drugs. for more than a decade armstrong adamantly denied that he ever used banned banned substances. the u.s. anti-doping agency wants blacklist in an effort to restore cycling. a repairman of a water company is expected to be okay after being hit by a car. this accident all caught on camera. two workers were standing in the middle of the road in missouri, shutting off a water valve when a minivan drove through the intersection. one worker was able to jump out of the way, but the other one was hit. the driver did stop at the scene and is not going to be charged. but some incredible video to pass along to you this morning. >> horrible accident. right now 4:54 on this wednesday morning. let's get right to weather for

thanks for joining us on this wednesday morning. rnlt parents you know your little ones will get into just about anything if you're not keeping a close eye on them. >> one new mom learned that the hard way. this is jessica mays' 1-year- old daughter. she got a hold of her cell phone one day and just began dialing. one of the numbers she called was 911. police say the toddler dialed it seven times in one day and a total of 16 times for the month of january. mays is now facing some legal trouble and if convicted she could get up to a year in jail and a $6,000 fine, a lesson for moms with little ones. >> time to keep that phone away. stay with us this morning because, wallet, lipstick, pocket knife, some of the things you'll find in one woman's purse, but you might be wondering why wasp spray would be in there. >> some woman packing this and some other household products. coming up at 5:00, why this is
