to give us an update & the -- on the conditions. hopefully it will be dry. >> reporter: we're starting to see light drizzle. here's the problem. it's been freezing and that's the concern for the evening commute. we've been watching the roadway during the course of the evening. so far, things looking good, normal volume. the deal is with the light drizzle coming down during the course of the evening we could address the possibility of frozen areas. everybody is sick of this winter. i mean, we've been seeing one storm after another and they've been nuisance events. winter needs to go away. we spoke to a few people. >> i think this winter is pretty great. we dodged a lot of snow but i still can't wait for the spring

claiming malpractice. and breaking news tonight from one of baltimore's most iconic companies. burger cakes and cookies is closed down. the company responsible for the delicious frosted treats were shut down at the end of january, that they were operating without a license. the company said they are closed due to a family illness. if you follow -- brian kuebler on twitter, you were the first to know about the police trainee who was shot. >> reporter: this last week has been a steady stroll of bad news -- stream of but we learned that the trainee was discharged. it was early last week that the trainee was shot in the head during a training drill that went horribly wrong. we now know the department

didn't have the permission. we also know the officer who fired the live round, william kern broke protocol by having the firearm on his hip. investigator sources tell us it's near complete and the findings will be take ton a baltimore county grand jury. again, that trainee has been released from shock trauma today. as batt -- as police commissioner anthony batts said, he faces a long road. >> you can follow brian on twitter. two days, two fatal crashes on the inner loop of the beltway.

early this morning a car hit a tractor-trailer near pikesville. the driver was thrown from the vehicle, hit by another car and killed. the driver of the tractor-trailer suffered minor injuries. police and rescued crews shut down the inner loop. a car fire leads to a shocking discovery. just after 5 fire crews were called to the 2100 block of north monroe street a couple blocks from cop pin state. after putting the fire out they discovered two bodies inside. the medical examiner is conducting an autopsy. all brand-new at 35bg, a maryland man faces more than 20 animal cruelty charges after police discovered a makeshift puppy farm in his home. >> jeff? >> reporter: it was a person with the best of intentions trying to adopt one of the dogs

after getting a glimpse. that person was responding to a web page that featured modeled dogs with handlers to match. what they found was a so-called rescued operation with dogs literally stacked on top of each other in tiny cages, many ma'am nourished and standing in their own urine and feces. these wishing to adoesn't should check them out first. >> make sure it's a nonprofit agency, that they have references. when you go to pick the dog up, see where they are. if someone wants to meet you in the parking lot of a 7-lever, that should tell you something is wrong. >> they arrested the man on 23 separate counts of animal

17 medical societies teamed up with a warning about medicines, screenings and testings they say are unneassments first, question any doctor that recommends giving a ct scan to a kid with a minor injury. the scans expose them to radiation. get a second opinion if your doctor wants to induce labor or do a c-section before 39 weeks into your pregnancy. endless meetings, and inboxes but what about those appointments with yourself you've been meaning to take. >> reporter: it's a regular here at lunchtime. >> allows you to get your body going. >> reporter: but this is not your typical gym. he is at his workplace.

old-fashioned walk during a break. it's free and good for your heart. all right. gray skies, no question about. that show you motion over bel air. you can see the clouds thickening up. we had a few showers. very, very light. very light, but take a look at the hyperlocal temperatures. as we go west 29 towson. 339 arbutus. the numbers are cold enough that anything that does fall will freeze up. let's show you a different perspective. where are the showers now? primarily in the central part of the state reaching up along the banks. some light showers also up into cecil county getting showers, chester town. the surface temperatures are west of the bay where we have the freeze concerns in play. all right. here we go. winter weather advisories for north central maryland.

this is through saturday morning. yes, we're getting a few light showers, but the ground temps at or below freezing and we think more precipitation coming in through the overnight hours and that could mean a little more in the way of some sleet and freezing rain. a close look and you can see where we have the greatest concerns. show you the future trends, a few light showers for the next couple of hours, maybe rain on the eastern shore. then we push toward eight in the morning. right around daybreak temperatures just below freezing. i think we could get brief freezing rain, brief icing. we'll go to rain showers late in the day, no problems after mid-morning but early saturday morning we got the showers that came in and maybe that first wave of that precipitation in the morning could be in the way of icy showers. so we have to watch out for that. otherwise, a cloudy gray and ugly start to the weekend. we are not going to see a lot of

sun, and that's after we get rid of the icy threat. kind of ugly, temperatures struggle to get to the mid-40s. as we go through daybreak, this is likely to pass and make a move up the coastline. our next line could start out as an icy mix. slick hearse developing north and -- areas developing north and west. freezing rain to rain tomorrow and basically showers coming late in the day has temperatures warm up. so improveling weather through your sat -- improving weather through saturday. we'll set the stage for a decent second half, partly cloudy. that ice cry start on saturday ending has just rain. as we looked early, temperatures will trend milder. eel' look for the temperatures to push into the upper 40s to near 50 on tuesday. and there we go.

caught on camera, four officers have been suspended. after the officers approached him they appeared to kick and beat him. the officers claimed they thought the man was armed. airborne leads the way but not this way. three tough as nails paratroopers needed some civilian help after getting stuck in trees in washington state. it happened during a training exercise. the only thing damaged was their pride. firefighters from the nearby county and military base helped

inside a home on quentin avenue. the man accused of running the operation is 29-year-old anthony gear and he faces 23 counts of animal cruelty. weather wise we continue to watch a few scattered showers. some of that is reaching to the lower eastern shore and temperatures right around that freezing mark. we do have winter weather advisories up for northern baltimore county, west through carroll and west in the state. realize points south and east could find some slick overpasses through the overnight hours. you can see the froze line has dipped south through southern baltimore county and howard county. as you go further south there are the numbers. again, temperatures hovering right around freezing overnight. more rain working its way up the coast. it would mean the posli
