institution. senator brian frost chairs the committee. >> the licensing provisions, the gun dealer provisions. each one of them will save lives. marylanders will be safer. >> reporter: senator raskins. >> it will make maryland safer while respecting the second amendment rights. >> reporter: others disagree. >> but it still tramples all over every one of the second amendment rights. i don't know what part of don't infringe we don't understand but what we've done is wrong. >> reporter: although the governor has tried to restrict the sale of assault weapons, gunshots -- gun shops have had a run on them. gun owners fear they will not be able to purchase them in the future. >> not one single murder in baltimore city was committed

with an assault weapon. so what we need to do in baltimore city is make sure that we enforce the laws that we do have and that we keep in jail those persons who are prone to commit violence with handguns. >> reporter: in annapolis, don harrison, abc2 news. >> the full senate will pick up that bill on monday and could vote on it by next week. a similar version will be introduced to the house on friday. whatever is happening in annapolis, guns are in such high demand, walmart is having trouble keeping some in stock. demand soared after the president's push for gun sales. customers can only purchase three boxes of ammo a day. there's no limit on how many guns a customer can purchase. it was a special moment in the general assembly.

the packing company is recalling sausage in maryland and 10 other states. that's because the sausage may contain small pieces of plastic, most likely from gloves. they discovered the problem after two complaints. so far, no one mass been hurt. fewer food inspectors could cost you at the grocery store. the biggest increase would be in beef or chicken. if congress doesn't act it will force a cut to the department. that means fewer food inspectors on the job and potential closings of the plants. google, where can i buy a new laptop? the answer may very well be google. the company is introducing a new laptop called the chrome book pixel. it has a cloud computing system. wi-fi only models start at $1300 it. all right. start off with a look at some of our hd cameras across the state. you only see them on abc2. cloudy skies over mt. airy. a few wintry showers. it's been very plight precipitation all day -- light precipitation all day. roads clear from towson south, east, through the rest of the state. temperatures are marginal. any showers we do see from the

chesapeake bay, so showers in this direction likely to be in the form of rain. as we take you into the set up, you can see where the precip is. light wintry showers, a little sleet and a little rain freezing on contact. as you go farther south, here the rain is just that, a cold rain. that will probably be the case through daybreak but that freeze line will stick around the immediate baltimore region. concerns north and west and this is threw saturday morning. we think more precipitation is due in as we head toward daybreak tomorrow. the freeze line is south and east of baltimore and d.c. now. as you go further south above that freezing mark, so, again,

as this precipitation continues to come in in the form of light showers and maybe a more significance wave near daybreak it will encounter that cold air, so light showers, just enough to ice things up a little bit through 2 a.m. as we push beyond 2 a.m. and have an early apointment out the door as that initial rain begins, it could start off as a freezing rain event. this will quickly turn over to rain. if you have early saturday morning driving plans, especially baltimore north and west, you have to factor in the fact you could be dealing with icy roads because of that precipitation. sunday looks nice and dry. so the whole thing will clear out nicely for the second half of the weekend. broader perspective. you can see that band. a lot of the snow has moved north. there's an additional wave to

our south and west. that will overspread the area tomorrow morning. for now just lightly scattered showers, enough to glaze things up. it's this next wave that will arrive early saturday morning that could start off as freezing rain. slick roads will be possible but especially toward daybreak. remember, black ice is tough to see. bridges and overpasses always the first place to freeze. you hit the overpass. suddenly you're skidding. tonight more rain and possibly ice, slick areas toward daybreak. then we change things over by rain. here's the setup into the next few days. temperatures warming a bit toward sunday. we could hit 50 in parts of the state. then chance for rain on tuesday into early wednesday. and right now temperatures not particularly warm but this time of the year upper 40s is statistically the average. pretty average after we get
