meteorologist wyatt everhart. wyatt, where is that rain? >> there's showers in southeastern maryland. where the temperatures are not that cold, but things will change as we go into the early morning. most of the rain activity southeastern maryland. most of the below freezing air northwestern maryland. right on that boundary there is icy shower activity and it's through saturday morning. you can see where the freeze line is. baltimore at the freezing mark. eastern shore -- but as we go north and west toward frederick, the reports were at freezing level. so any showers that came down are likely to produce ice. to the south and west, you see there is more rain developing in the gulf. that will move up the coast into daybreak. we can get another round before it all goes to rain. again, looking for the

possibility of icy conditions before we change the rain. we'll talk more about this. that's straight ahead. it's friday. you just want to get home. >> mike masco has a check on the road conditions. how is it looking? >> it looks pretty good. good evening but looks are going to be deceiving. that 32-degree line is snaking through the state. i want to show you what's going on. yes, it's raining right now, but, as you can see, when the rainfalls into the cold surfaces, and this is a good example, it freezes on contact and that's the concern. i do think that's going to be a common theme where anyrain that develops -- any rain that

conditions standing in their own urine, feces. >> reporter: neighbors said they were unaware of the underground business. >> one day i saw the police show up. >> reporter: did you see dogs then? >> i didn't see dogs. >> reporter: but animal control officers found 23 dogs and this were rescued. 29-year-old anthony gear allegedly traveled to neighboring states to obtain the unwanted dogs from shelters on the premise he would find them better homes. >> they do want those puppies to go out of their shelters alive. so they will give them to rescue groups or pel who make them -- people who make themselves to be rescue groups and those illegitimate rescue groups or people like this gentleman will

bring them and sell them for a profit. >> reporter: several suffered from diseases and had to be euthanized. others were sent to viable rescues. baltimore county,ever hager -- jeff hager, abc2. >> police caught up with gear and arrested him and found four additional dogs at his home and more charges are coming. new details on the trainee shooting. the director offedcation -- of education of training will retire in may. stay with us for more on this change. late this morning officials at shock trauma confirmed the man shot in the head was released. he faces a long road of physical therapy.

he was shot when an unauthorized training drill was held at the now shuttered rosewood center. the officer who fired the shot broke protocol by having a live weapon. they are looking into the details of exactly how this happened. an update in the case of the former johns hopkins doctor accused of secretly videotaping his patients. an attorney plans to file the first lawsuit on behalf of a patient of dr. nikita levy. the client is reportedly a hopkins employee. this news comes on the same day that a crime victims group is writing a letter asking if their images were distributed by levy. cheryl conner is working this story. the latest on the breaking news we told you about on good

morning maryland. police identified a driver kile killed in a -- killed in a crash. he was on from the vehicle and hit by another car. it happened around 1 this morning. the driver of the tractor-trailer had minor injuries. >> lawmakers are considering a bill to legalize marijuana. anderson introduced it to the house of delegates yesterday. it would create a system to regulate and tax it like alcohol. the senate president mike miller says he supports the idea. >> should be treated as very minor offenses, paying a fine. i personally believe that marijuana should be regulated like cigarettes and alcohol. i don't think that's the view of

elevated surfaces. a quick check of the temperatures, you can see 32 or colder west of the chesapeake chesapeake bay. rain across southern maryland here. temperatures safely above freezing. push toward the i-95 corridor. you can see radar indicated mixed showers. this is light, very light, but how much freezing rain does it really take to make for a dangerous icy overpast. one little burst is all that it takes. that's why we're saying take extra caution. as you head further south down toward florida, it's all one long boundary and more moisture forming will run up the coast.

it could make for decent rain tomorrow afternoon but initially early in the morning it could make for brief freezing rain. baltimore north and west and we'll go above freezing med day. northern baltimore county, carroll county and pennsylvania the southern part of that state. freezing conditions. you can see the freeze line moved south and east and is pushing toward annapolis and the chesapeake bay. it's critical one or two degrees, makes such a difference. he of more significant rain toward daybreak. if you have early saturday morning travel plans, you need to use extra caution, especially on the western and northern part of our state. things will change over. we'll clear out tomorrow evening. temperatures will be in the 40s. no problems. but early night into early

tomorrow morning that's where we'll have some concerns. that light shower action giving way to significant precipitation that would impact us. remember, the key thing with black ice, it can look like wet roads. you can be driving on a wet paved surface. that's where you skid out of control. you have to be careful. here we go, 31. more rain and ice possible. brief freezing rain going to sleet. tomorrow night we're dry. we're clear. i think we're fine. the morning hours not so much. here we go the next few days, you can see the sun and milder early next week. that's how things play out. sunday's oscars ceremony will celebrate 50 years of james bond but there would not be an iconic superstar without the villains.
