the two victims are hospital employees. a hazmat situation led to an investigation in a hopkins medical building. it happened after several people reported feeling sick. 16 people were transported to the hospital. >> a harford county teacher's assistant is arrested for having sex with a student. the suspect, anthony ferris is accused of having sex with a 16-year-old student in the high school. he faces multiple charges including sex abuse of a minor. >> we may need an arc to get around. >> we're tracking the radar and finding heavy rain. a lot of it has moved north from

the state. we have more pushing out of virginia, pushing through the d.c. area and a heavy band coming through right now through stevensville on the eastern shore. that will be moving north toward sealsle ton. coastal flood concerns on the western shore. winter weather concerns only for allegany west. temperatures are too warm for anything other than rain. for more on how much precipitation we may see, let's head over to mike masco. >> it could be about a inch and a half -- a half an inch to an inch of rain. take a look at our model. this shows you generally about a half an inch, maybe an inch to the north of the beltway. look how large it s stretches

from minneapolis toward tampa. i got a photo to share with you. this is a water spout to the west of the city. it has moved on shore and feermd tornado. so some wild weather. take a look out to the west. snows. they saw from 15 to 22 inches of snow stranding motorists. this is a storm that will move toward chicagoland. if you have a flight from bwi or going to dulles to catch a flight, this will be a big problem from chicago to wichita. we'll talk about the storm and when we can break out of this pattern. a local police chief is having a big impact on the national gun debate. baltimore county's chief jim johnson has spoken in front of congress before. he is the chairman of the national coalition to prevent

gun violence. scrn son is pushing for a limit on high capacity magazines and assault weapon bans and background checks. >> maryland is ahead of the game requiring background checks for certain regulated firearms. however, 40% of mrns acquire their firearms outside the process. >> he says he is in for an overall gun ban. >> the bill that bans assault weapons limits magazine size. it was introduced in the full state senate this morning. it was then laid over with favorable amendments. that means it was put on hold until tomorrow and the house commit will debate the same bill. the gun control debate is divided.

lots of green. the stocks jumped today with all of the indefense rising. the rebound comes after last week's dro. two stocks rose for every one that rose on the new york stock

exchange. our consumer alert an engine problem has landed ford vehicles under investigation. the national highway traffic safety administration is looking at the vehicles. the engines apparently can unexpectantly stall or surge. it has led to three crashes and one injury. the investigation is for model years 2009 through 2011. yahoo handed out an ultimatum to its employees. come to work or quit. employees who work remotely full-time have to start showing up in the office by june. it's meant to increase community cation and collaboration. it's the latest move by ceo marissa mayer to turn around the struggling company. >> you have untildown to get to work? got to get some things in order. the finger pointing takes a

all right. start you out with a look at some of the weather cams across the free state. rainy in baltimore. this has changed in pape pea. the winds whipping out of the east. rain beginning to come down. a coastal flood advisory and all points along the western shore, south toward calvert cliffs and havre de grace because that bay will be coming in on that hard

east wind at high tide. frostburg winter weather coming down. icy weather in the western edge of the state from here through garrett county. otherwise, it's been a rain situation. here are the rain totals so far. they've been in excess of a half an inch west of the d.c. area. we've had almost a third of an inch in mt. airy. lighter totals on the eastern side of the bay. all right. take you into maryland's most powerful radar. where's the precipitation? all across the state. a lot rough new rain will be heading out of virginia. heavy wave moving through northern queen anne's county into kent county and the shore and rain coming from southwest to the d.c. area. that will crass into the baltimore area. it is a large, large storm to say the least. double barrel low pressure, secondary in the main low north of st. louis. snow coming down across much of

the great lakes. icy weather in the mountains to the west and western maryland and west virginia. overnight just showers tapering off as it moves toward the day tomorrow. you can see the temperatures safely above freezing except for hearse west of hagerstown and that steady east wind working to pile the water up, the wind gusts around 38, a hard east wind. we have the coastal flood concerns along the banks of the chesapeake. eastern shore, obviously, the water drank but high tide cycles somewhat of a concern. all right. big perspective now, plenty of rain still to come, we think through midnight. light rain. you get a heavier burst and back to the light rain. you can see where the warnings are, the concerns. if you look carefully, gale force warnings. here's how things play out in

the future trend model. you can see we stay with the rain through 11:30, 12. then we clear things out. tomorrow warmer air. i think we'll stay mostly cloudy. there still will be some winter weather in the high terrain. the setup is one of a milder pattern with a day or two. there's a lot of warm air sitting across the coastal piedmont into the carolinas. that will be wrapped in behind the storm. we should push into the low 50s. as we go beyond tomorrow. upper 40s on tap. maybe we'll get to 50. it's colder for the weekend as the large storm begins to blow out and cold air rolls down the pike coming in. here's the forecast, 42, heavy rain at times. there will be flooding potential on the western shore. 55, cloudy with showers and tomorrow night we're at 35 and on the cool side.
