the inner harbor with the details on what's happening next. what's planning for today? >> another rally is set for today starting at 5:00. protesters calling for justice for trayvon martin plan to gather here at the inner harbor in downtown baltimore. from here they plan to march to city hall. more than a hundred protesters gathered at the same spot yesterday at the inner harbor. they stood out here for hours calling on the federal government to open the civil rights case against george zimmerman. the rally was organized by baltimore people power assembly, the same protesters who said they made a difference last year when zimmerman was not charged for six weeks after shooting martin. they're calling for civil rights charges this time. >> it's time to stand up. >> reporter: in a statement the justice department says they are investigating to determine whether civil rights charges should be filed in this case.

the rally is set to begin tonight starting at 5:00. in the wake of the verdict a group of 100 pastors will travel to washington, d.c. tomorrow. the group is organized by the reverend jamal bryant. they are hoping the federal government can bring charges against george zimmerman. the justice department is looking into whether federal prosecutors will final criminal civil rights charges now that he has been acquitted in the state case. they are hoping to speak with attorney general eric holder. we. [indiscernible] george zimmerman left the seminole courthouse a free man after shooting trayvon martin. protesters have poured into city streets around the country protesting that decision. demonstrators -- [indiscernible]

week will be laid to rest. he was off duty when his car crashed in baltimore county. he was 32 years old. he leaves behind a wife and a child. his wife is expecting their second child. now to an update on breaking news we first brought you on abc2news.com. an amtrak conductor says his train -- [indiscernible] they cannot find the victim. it happened at eastern boulevard and tide water lane. officers found blood and clothing along the tracks but no body. police later received a report a child was taken to a local hospital. however, the child's parents are giving police a different reason for the hospital visit. more violence in baltimore city streets this weekend. police say a 15-year-old boy was shot. it happened in the 2000 block

-- [indiscernible] the teen was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive. police are still investigating. 21-year-old ramone rodriguez who was shot -- raymond rodriguez did not survive. police say everyone involved in the shooting knew each other and rodriguez' death is not believed to be that of retaliation. despite the string of shootings in baltimore, the cdc said the murder rate for young people is declining. the homicide rate for children, teen and young adults hit a 30- year low in 2010. murders still consistently ranked in the top three causes of death for those 18 to 24. most of the killings involved the use of firearms. [indiscernible] family members say it's a miracle how the two men progressed. they even spoke in short

sentences over the weekend. they were trying to tether their boat to the severn river last week when they were hit by lightning. let's talk about what's going on right now on the satellite and radar. we'll not be dealing with too many storms. we'll be dealing with lots of heat. as we head towards the southwest, definitely dealing with plenty of rain across texas thong. this -- this morning. this is going to continue through the day. we're nice and dry. we're even going to get sunshine in here but the sun is really going to beat us down along with the humid conditions as well. dew points in the 70s in a lot of spots. we're talking about baltimore city coming in at 72. elk ridge at 71. along the eastern shore seeing 73 in chestertown and 72 centreville. 74 annapolis right now and 72 for a dew point in elkton. we are going to be very uncomfortable as we go into the afternoon. we're talking about heat index

taking a look at news around the world, nelson mandela could be released from the hospital to recuperate from home. the news came from another former south african president when he was speaking at a memorial service. he's been in the hospital for more than five weeks. is he being treated right now for recurring lung infection. is he said to be in critical but stable condition. this morning there are claims edward snowden is carrying what is basically an instruction manual for how the nsa is built. thousands of documents telling secrets on how the nsa does business is now coming from a guardian journalist who interviewed snowden. snowden told the paper he's not going to make this public. he has been hold up for a

number of weeks. he's applying for asylum in a number of countries including russia. there are claims edward snowden is basically carrying out -- seen certain. we'll have more on this as -- [indiscernible] we'll have more on this as the show conditions. a judge will hear arguments in a non-jury trial that stems from the september 11 attacks n. trial will decide if airlines owe the owners of the world trade center up to $3.5 billion in damages. the airline and other aviation- related companies were sued with the reasoning that they were negligent by allowing terrorists to board airplanes and overtake their crews. testimony is expected to last three days. south korean based asiana airlines is now considering legal action against the san francisco tv station and ntsb. the company says the tv station damaged the airlines' reputation by using bogus and false names of the pilots.

the ntsb says a summer intern mistakenly confirmed the names. however, ktvu and ntsb have apologized for the embarrassment. a 6-year-old boy who was in a six hole is in critical condition this morning. rescuers found him trapped along lake michigan in michigan city, indiana. they spent about four hours trying to dig the young boy out of that hole which is about 4 feet of sand. investigators are still trying to figure out how the boy got trapped in the first place. this morning he is in critical condition but doesn't have any life threaten willing injuries -- threatening injuries. [indiscernible] tested positive for a gay substance. he's not alone, though. two other runners also tested positive. he currently holds the record for the 100 meter and won the 100 and 200 meters at the u.s. nationals last month. time for a check on our weather. it was very hot outside and i think a lot of people are

wondering is this where we're going. >> yes. the rain is gone. i know you weren't too happy about that last week but we are definitely replacing that with plenty of hot temperatures and it's going to be very humid. let's start with the temperatures this morning. we're coming in at 70 degrees in parkton. 37 in annapolis and union bridge. good morning to you. you're coming in at 70 degrees. 77 right now -- [indiscernible] cambridge coming in right around 74 degrees. this is what we'll be working with as we continue through your day. the satellite and radar not picking up on a whole lot across the area. we're definitely under a clear sky. that's going to translate into plenty of sunshine as we go into the morning and even the afternoon. this is that type of day you'll want to seek plenty of shade because we do have high pressure just once again pumping in lots of heat and lots of humidity. this humidity and this heat is going to continue for the next several days. we're definitely going to be dealing with a significant heat wave as we go through the next several days. we're talking about a six to

seven-day stretch. your planner looks like n. you're waking up this morning that temperature coming in around 74 degrees. yes, will you wake up to plenty of sunshine but you'll wake up to the temperatures and the feeling of sticky conditions once again. as we roll into about 9:00 this morning, that temperature coming in at 82 degrees. still plenty of sunshine in the forecast. that's going to be the glass half full if you like the sunshine out there. if you don't like the heat and the humidity, you'll want to eat that lunch indoors. 91 degrees. we'll have the hazy sunshine as we continue throughout the week. remember, this does not mean you cannot see a pop-up shower or thunderstorm as we go through the next few days because this is what we're looking at. you can see that today we'll come in right around 95 degrees. we'll see a few clouds mixing in but then we just get hotter as we go through the next several days. we're talking about on tuesday the temperature coming in at 96 degrees. by wednesday we'll be at 98. but mind you this is going to be what these temperatures are going to feel like we're in the

triple digits from the start here. so we are definitely going to be very uncomfortable, very miserable the next several days. the humidity continues right as we go through your saturday and sunday but that's when we have the chance for stormy weather to work its way into the picture. let's get a check of the traffic now with lauren. high temperatures and high speetds. if you are traveling on 95 in howard county we're looking at 63 miles per hour along the northbound lanes at 195. you're not going to have any trouble getting to downtown baltimore. right now 695 also moving right along. the west side in great shape in baltimore national pike. no delays on the inner loop all the way to 795. if you are traveling on the outer loop, we will be in the green. 12 minutes to travel from 795 all the way down to 95. if you are heading into baltimore city, no delays on the jfx. we're looking at a normal drive time to get from the beltway all the way downtown to fayette street of just 11 minutes. go have a traffic alert if you are traveling in downtown baltimore. here's a live look not far from the maryland institute college of art.
