someone with heat distresses, get them out of the heat, and every second counts when the heat strikes. we'll have more coming up at 6:00. abc 2 news. this is the third heat wave we've had to deal with so far this summer, and it's claimed four lives so far. this child was left in the back seat for four hours, the medical examer said she overheated, and passed away. they said that three others died because of the heat. now we don't know the circumstances that led to the deaths, but we do know the child died because she was left in the hot truck. it's the worst place to be when it's this hot. sitting out in the sun, the inside of the car can get up to 94 degrees in two minutes. the dashboard can get to 200 degrees in the same amount of

61 young victims. police found a child hit by an amtrak train late yesterday morning. luckily he's at the hospital recovering from his jersey tonight, and -- injuries tonight. >> they confirm a child was struck by the tra, he was tyler eugene smith, and the conductor said he believed he struck a child, they did find clues though, including a maryland license on the side of the track. they found the four of the boy at the hospital, where his son was recovering from some pretty serious injuries. >> his driver's license is a piece of evidence we found at the scene. so we were able to locate him and talk to him. >> even when they did, the father didn't tell the truth of

caught a foul ball before, until yesterday. he caught the four of them, and he credits the fact that he was sitting in a different section, four in one day. let's take a look at the current heat alert, in effect today, on tuesday. you can see the more urban areas, around philadelphia, and baltimore, and down to the dc area. heat advisories are already up, and a hot day in effect out there. this evening will be awful warm and steamy too. if you're going for the evening jog tonight, do a lot of hydrating. bring a small jug of water if possible. very hot spot on the map, the heat index over 100 in the city. 94, almost no wind to stir things up, but the dew point is 68, humidity is very, very high,

and that's the combination of heat and humidity that's on the dangerous side of the heat tonight and tomorrow. below 90, and into the 80s this evening, and the muggy start in the morning. you want to be prepared for another hot day. and make sure you load up the jugs for ice water, they'll probably need that. the hi temperatures -- high temperatures today, mid 90s, however, when you throw in the combefs levels of -- excessive levels of humidity, that's the highest you'll see the humanity in central maryland. this is what it feels like, 98 in jorjs town -- georgetown, and when is this going to let up? no time soon, this is the longest of the summer, and it doesn't look like a two or three

week eventual, but a multiday event. we need something to break this heat pattern that we're in, and the index values will happen up above 100, for the next few arches. the -- afternoons. a lot of action may be south of us, this is tomorrow at 6:00, maybe a pop up shower, wednesday it looks dryer, but again, heat and humidity could drive an afternoon shower or storm. we look at the big picture, and the bottom line is, more days of sering heat. you see the high pressure bubble sits on the east coast, and keeps us cloud free, except for the pop up storms, and the multiday of sering heat, that'll not happen until friday and

saturday, more than likely. tonight, muggy and uncomfortable, and then tomorrow, we're talking 96 for the actual temperature. the heat index will be in the mid 100's tomorrow afternoon. you have to be careful, do not leave an animal or anything living inside a car for tomorrow or the next several days. 75 tomorrow night, look at the next several days. upper 90s, on the hotter side we've seen of the summer, and beyond that, when might we see some relief around here? well, maybe in the weekend, a slow moving cool front, that snaps the heat, and that'll allow us to drop down in the upper 80s. remember, last summer we were in searing heat in june, the first legitimate heat wave of the season, so you have to be careful for 4, 5, 6 days.

arrested for a child predator. officials say he's accused of making contact with a person that he thought was a 13-year-old girl, and trying to arrange a meeting for sex. a boy that was struck by a train, he's in the hospital recovering tonight, the police responded to the scene after a call from amtrak, but they couldn't find the boy. they eventually found them at the hospital, but the father did not give an honest explanation of what had happened. a severely injured cat will survive, the cat was found in baltimore, the vets amputated of what was left of his back leg. it was discovered hanging from the blind of an abandoned home. all right, the weather

70s overnight, it'll feel like mid 80s. how hot we get this week, and when we break the heat wave, that's straight ahead. thanks. one scene of not guilty verdict, for george zimmerman, the people disappointment went ahead that took to the streets. a rally in support of trayvon martin, last night, there was a similar demonstration in the square. more than 100 folks there last night, and probably again tonight. now they're pushing for the federal government to open a civil rights case against him. people in baltimore are not the only xrsz taking to the -- citizens taking to the streets to protest the trial.
