a crash in hartland county. tonight we're learning about the man killed in the crash from bel air. state police identified him. he was pronounced dead at the scene. preliminary investigation shows that the pickup truck crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer. it then hit a tanker truck. and then the trailer and the tanker was only going ten miles per hour due to construction. speed was a factor for the crash. two other drivers were not injured. there are charges tonight against a police officer involved in a crash that critically injured two girls. symchay kon bendufaces second-degree assault, negligent driving and reckless driving charges. he made an illegal u-turn and he hit an oncoming car. the officer was on duty at the time. howard county police declined to comment on the investigation. they will say that symchay kon

i think saturday will be similar to our friday in some ways. clouds are going to increase later in the day as they are in southern maryland. it was sunny earlier at the beach but no clouds. really we're all clear from frederick. look at the temperatures stayedwide, we're in the low-to-mid to upper 70s. baltimore city is dropping below 80 in the last hour. 73 in chestertown. manchester and hayingerstown we have mid-to-upper 70s. this is a pleasant scenario. wet weather to the south. all eyes here on the weekend. the rain maker can make a run into maryland as early as late saturday night. i really think not most part the rain chances will hold off until we get into the second half of the weekend through the day on sunday. we'll talk more on that in a few more minutes. just realize, it's partly cloudy. it will be a bright start in the morning with some cloud cover but things will go downhill late in the day tomorrow. we'll have more on that coming up in just a few minutes.

the murder of a parksville women has advocacy groups looking at what laws need to be strengthened. victoria glover was murdered on tuesday by her estranged husband. she was headed to trial a that morning for an assault charge. he shot and killed her right in front of her 3-year-old son. the women's law center of maryland and the network against domestic violence met in annapolis to talk about laws they could tweak or create to better defend women against abusers. they may look at gps monitoring of domestic violence offenders or stricter bail laws to keep and prevent the kind of homicides that we saw on tuesday morning. >> it's a tough situation. it's tragic. we're going to think about it and reflect and wonder what else we could be doing. everyone will. >> they are successful in

strengthening and creating laws. they hope to have a legislative generaled in time for the session begin. a new report from leaker edward snowden. he showed an audit in the "washington post" and said that there have been thousands of privacy rules violations every year since 2008. and even violating court orders. lawmakers say they were unaware of the audit. they are calling for a hearing on the matter now. a deadly tornado struck moore, oklahoma at the end of the last school year. students got a new beginning starting the first day of the new year. teachers and faculty welcomed the kids with a big celebration. 24 people killed in the tornado including seven students at two elementary schools. two schools were destroyed by the twister. students are using temporary buildings while the schools are

homeless shelters or transitional housing. it's a grown up burden carried on the shoulders of innocence. >> they weren't asked to be in this environment. they have to take on the issues that the parents have. we have something here to ease their pain. they are letdown their guard and interact with peers. they don't talk about the fact that they are in a situation. how are they feeling and where do i turn when i need help? i think the structure here helps them to release the information out. >> this parent was trapped in a tough life. >> i lost my house. i had to move. >> reporter: she now turned her life around and this camp has been a god send for her and her kids. >> they are dealing with emotions and just being a kid. >> reporter: many of the volunteers here return every year. >> and the kids are so special. i can't wait to come back next

we had a gorgeous day and had an evening out there to enjoy. take a long walk and get the dogs out of the house. enjoy this and take in fresh air. 76 degrees. humidity low and 35%. dew point is nice. the day is getting shorter by the way so that the evening walks will be shifted up a little bit as we go later in the month and into september. show you the beach, and we roll forward and you can see that in ocean city we have some sunshine early on. the clouds are then fighting their way back at times. it didn't stop the crowd from taking the beach. how about the beach forecast tomorrow? we have a pretty good start. we have some bright conditions in the morning and clouds will thicken into the morning and could be a shower by 8:00 or 9:00 tomorrow night. the index we'll show as moderate. keep storm shield handy if you are heading to the beach.

it's in the palm of the hand, if a thunderstorm warning pops up late day sunday more than likely, you will have it with it. temperatures across the state, mid-70s and low 70s at the beach. no not bad and low humidity with a light easterly breeze. we'll keep the easterly flow through the weekend. as a result, humidity will ramp up on the east wind and could help fuel a shower by late saturday night. again, primary chances coming in on sunday. right now we do see clouds streaking into the state out of the south and east. these are not rain makers, the closest near the outer banks. in the meantime. high pressure controlling from the midwest. we have some humid more active weather trying to drift more and may make it in by the second half of the week. looking at the future trend, the progress will be slow but the rain is shifting further north on saturday.
