5:39. we want to take you back to new jersey on the site of breaking news we've been following this morning. you can see live pictures of a huge fire that is burning through a jersey recycling plant. thiss jersey city where heavy flames are visual for miles. this fire broke out inside simms metal management just after 11:00 last night. as you can see, still an active situation. now firefighters are battling the flame from the land and also from a marine vessel. no firefighters have been injured. there's no word on when this

fire could be brought under control or even what started it. it was burning through one of world's largest recycling plants. we will stay on top of this story. let's take a look outside in bel air this morning. we have been talking about fog this morning. bel air not so much. we do see plenty of sunshine that will happen as we go throughout the day. we have to wait for that sun to rise. that will happen around 6:25 this morning. as we check out the temperature, nice and seasonal for the most part. coming in at 64. that dew point at 63. we have some areas where we have the fog out there. definitely be aware of that. around union bridge we have the temperature at 63, the dew point at 63, humidity at 100%. this will continue until about 9:00 then the fog will begin to burn off. that's definitely some good news that we like to hear. today's temperature coming in at 86 degrees, more seasonal. lots of sunshine in the forecast.

if you're heading out to the game at 7:05, that temperature at 82. we will be under a partly cloudy sky, light southern breeze. great day, great evening for a game. by tomorrow it gets warmer. temperature coming in around 88 degrees. we will see and feel more humid as well. we will continue this sunshine. over the next few days we start to see some changes but temperatures go up talking about 90 degrees by thursday. let's get a check of the traffic with lauren. well, you will want to avoid 95 on the southwest side of baltimore city. a serious crash has shut down all northbound lanes as you approach 695. we were sent these photos. the crash involved three vehicles, one of which was a tractor trailer that did catch fire. it's still a very active scene. traffic being diverted off to 195 east. you can take that to 295 to get over to 695. it shut down one southbound lane but that's since reopened. we have trouble southbound. there's a crash right at the ramp to route

15 minutes away from 6:00. for the past few months we've gotten used to not sharing the roads with school buses. in a week that's going to change. today baltimore county students are joining the traffic safety partners to send out a reminder about the rules of the road during the school season. they'll go over all the pedestrian safety things you need to know and also how police plan to enforce the rules. that news conference is happening at randallstown elementary school. we will pass that information along to you after it happens. if you see a lot of activity around annapolis today don't be alarmed. the city is holding a

disaster preparedness exercise. this year they're focusing on short and long-term recovery efforts in the event of a major disaster. it will take place near the water treatment plants and navy memorial stadium. all that happening in annapolis. more on those western wild fires rolling through several states. mother nature is not helping with this problem at all. strong winds in the columbia river gorged the oregon wild fire forcing a number of evacuations monday. others wait to hear if they're going to be forced out too. the fires have been burning near deals at the columbia river city, the favorite hang out for wind surfs. it's not clear if all the buildings evacuated were homes. in idaho more than 1,100 firefighters are working to help

14 helicopters and other aircraft there. they're battling 160 square mile beaver creak fire, only 8% contained. this could be threatening resort towns like sun valley. then we go to northern california. the strong winds are fanning firefighters there. 300 buildings being threatened. hundreds evacuate from their homes during the weekend. many are being allowed to return as the containment lines have expanded. there's other wild fires. you got them effecting utah and montana. mother nature and the fire conditions are playing havoc. an agreement has been made between firefighters and the city. firefighters will get a 16.5% pay raise in exchange for working more hours. they would be required to work 47.5 hours a week. union members are expected to vote on this proposal today. longer workdays mean s

the city can save millions of dollars by cutting over time cost. movies will play again at the senator in baltimore. the owners plan to reopen on thursday, october 10th. published reports said it will open with a screening of the movie hair spray. it's been closed for extensive renovations. three more screens, a restaurant and new seating are among the improvements. locally maryland lost around 9,200 jobs in the month of july. that caused the unemployment rate to rise to 7.1%. over all the state has the third highest in the u.s. behind new jersey and nevada. maryland has 39,000 jobs since july of last year added. the u.s. unemployment rate is 7.4%. your input is needed to help

cowboys come in at number one. the redskins at 13th. raiders ranked last. the study looked at team box office revenues relative to the team's on field success, over all market population. they came up with some add ball math equations and we came in at number eight. a long over waited visit for the 1972 miami dolphins team. they are visiting the white house today for president obama to congratulate them on a super bowl win 40 years after the fact. they are ao the only team in the history of the nfl to have a perfect season. the dolphins didn't go to the white house due to the water gate scandal. a piece of history. we'll be right back. ♪

are going to be 295, 29 or stick with washington boulevard. expect heavy delays southbound as welch there's a crash at the ramp to route 195. as we take a look at the other main lines, no problems on the jfx heading into the city or the tunnels. the beltway, that's going to be the worst spot right now. the west side, we are dealing with a crash in the outer loop at frederick road in caytonsville. drive times up to 16 minutes on the outer loop from 795 down to 95. no problems on pairing parkway from 95 to 83. an early morning fire in caytonsville has severely damaged an apartment building that sent at least one person to the hospital. roosevelt is live at the scene with the latest this morning. >> reporter: since the sun started to come up you can see the damage better. take a look behind me here. you can see where the roof caved in. part

of the house here on scotts lane in caytonsville, near frederick road, across from saint mark's church. take a look at the video earlier to give you an idea of what the fire department was dealing with when they got here. when they did get here the flames were shooting through the roof, heavy smoke was pouring out of the building as well. four people were inside the house, two adults and two children. they managed to get out safely. we talked with the folks inside the house. we talked with a man inside the house with his wife and two kids. he said they had very little time to do anything. >> i just heard some guy screaming outside. they said get out of the house. i went to the outside there was flames. i got the kids and ran. >> that's all you had time for, right? >> yeah. i didn't have time to think about grabbing stuff. i was jth
