od morning, maryland. yes, we are definitely dealing with temperatures on the mild side this morning. we have the clouds out there. all in all we are going to have a seasonable day towards the afternoon. look at the mid to upper 50s in a lot of spots. we actually do have 60 coming in the dc area and also around stevensville this

morning. as we look at maryland's most powerful radar, we are nice and dry. we are going to stay dry for a while. there's no need for the umbrella. today some sunshine out there. those clouds really are going to hold tough towards the weekend. you will put the sunglasses to good use. the planner for today, 61 degrees by 8:00. 70 towards lunchtime. by this afternoon that high temperature coming in at 73. going partly sunny to partly cloudy skies. well, anybody traveling in howard county give yourself some extra time on interstate 70. a crash that has been moved to the shoulder at columbia pike but we are start together see delays. just 25 miles per hour right now. 695, the outer loop here at interstate 70 starts to pick up. drive times not significantly impacted. you're looking at a 13 minute ride from

for an injunction. they filed a lawsuit saying the restrictions on assault weapons and magazines violates their constitutional rights. they argue it won't reduce crime but keep people from being able to protect themselves. a spokeswoman for the governor said she expects the law to withstand the challenge. a family quickly discovered someone was sm through their front window. their 19 month old daughter had a bullet fragment lodged in her head. jeff is live. >> reporter: the moul ton family addressed a standing-room only crowd last night. their eldest of three young children, abbey, still has that bullet fragment lodged in her head above her right eye. her father, a disabled veteran dismissed rumor that is the man fired several shots through the front window because their racist or tied to

chiwengo. he said the incident was tragic and stemmed from the suspect's fleeing from police. the members of the family said an apology would be nice. the officers involved in the crash have the right to hire an attorney so the department's investigators haven't spoken to them yet. an a expert on disability awareness training said our sate could become the first to require police and other responders to get such training. they spoke about the death of robert ethan saylor during online seminars. saylor died of asphyxiation in police custody. no state requires that sort of broad training. family and friends will say their final good byes to a local man killed in the navy yard shooting. a viewing is happening today in glen burnie for richard mike ridgell. he was a former state police officer who worked security at the navy yard.

and george sitting down with former president bill clinton. you'll hear about that today and sunday on "this week." >> a bo-fer. >> you can always count on you, sam champion, especially on a friday. let's get right to the breaking story. scary moments in the skies. a united airlines flight forced to land mid flight after the pilot suffered a medical emergency while flying. david kerley is at reagan national airport with the latest on all this. good morning, david. >> reporter: this emergency landing declared because of one of the pilots who apparently suffered a heart attack in flight. overnight, drama in the skies. >> we got a man down. chest compressions going on right now. can an ambulance and maybe some air stairs, meet us on the runway. >> united 1603, we'll get that going. >> reporter: the united airlines flight bound for seattle, makes an emergency landing in boise. the pilot suffering an apparent heart attack. knowing time is essential, the co-pilot, with 161 passengers

onboard from houston, asked to immediately pull off the runway for help. >> he's going to stop on the runway. and then, they'll bring the stairs out to him. >> smoky 7, smoky 9, and engine 7 will proceed to taxiway alpha. >> reporter: flight crews are trained to handle this type of emergency. >> the pilots are treated with the same standard. the main problem is to take care of the pilot who is having the problem. >> reporter: a problem that other pilots in the air are hearing unfold. >> what was going on with united? >> a medical emergency. their captain. >> that's never good. >> nope. >> reporter: united airlines tells abc news, the flight landed safely. and paramedics met the plane upon arrival and transported the crew member to the hospital. passengers onboard said the airline did a good job. one man tweeting, kudos to united for managing the incident of flight 1603 to seattle in such a professional way. we are now boarding and will be in seattle soon.
